good video. @2:00 one thing to note is that card has a misprint, it should have the number '1' next to the sand dollar like the card @2:40 but it's easy to figure out. I haven't played it in a while but made solo rules I'll have to share sometime. so did the designer.

Ohhhh yeah, I remember noticing this while playing it one day after I filmed the video. Good point.

Thank you for a perfect video! Clear, concise and easy to follow. It was nice to watch something without all the usual “fillers”.

Thank you, Wayne! I really appreciate the kind words. Make sure you catch my correction for the one error I made about moving those locals around at the end of the game before final scoring. Sorry for the oversight there.

Thanks for watching! Be sure to note my correction I made re: movement at the end of the game. I messed that up a bit when filming.

This was literally perfect. I watched a couple others but still didn't get it. This did the trick! Now I know what I'm doing! Love the focus on just explaining with out adding anything else. That makes it so easy to use to introduce others to the game. Thanks so much!

I like the artwork a lot but I am not convinced by the rules. Is that funny?!

That's fair - I haven't played a tableau builder quite like it, with moving the people around your tableau and also the drafting system with the foodie and food truck. Win or lose, it's a relaxing but really satisfying game to play as you develop your own unique version of Santa Monica. But I can see why it won't be for everyone.

This is a ridiculously complicated game. After reading the many page instruction book and watching the video, I still have no idea how to play, who the VIPs are, etc. complete waste of $40.

Hey there, I'm sorry to hear you feel this way, but I'm happy to help clarify any questions you have.
I'll start by saying - there are 3 different types of people in this game that you can move around on your little tableau of cards - TOURISTS (orange, with sunglasses), LOCALS (blue), and VIPs (green). The tourists and locals are the most common, because you can acquire additional ones throughout the game from triggering the placement bonuses (left side of the card). However, the green VIPs cannot be added throughout the game.
Depending which starting Feature Tile you take (those vertical thick cardboard pieces), it'll let you start the game with either 1 or 2 VIPs. The idea behind the VIPs is that you're trying to move those people around your little beachfront tableau as much as possible to meet the scoring condition on that Feature Tile. Thematically - think of it as this VIP wants to go certain places in Santa Monica, and your cards will let them travel around to visit those places.
So let's say you start with 2 VIPs and you have a scoring condition that wants you to visit locations with certain tags... whenever you add a card that triggers moving people around, you might want to move one of your VIPs over, and if they land on a card that matches the scoring condition, you place one of those green FOOTPRINT tokens on the card, to signify that your VIP visited that location. Then, at the end of the game, one of the categories you score points for is that every FOOTPRINT token gets you 1 point, since it shows that your VIP made it there during the game. Even if the VIP moves away from that space, the FOOTPRINT token stays there as a reminder. Just to clarify - sometimes you'll have an icon that shows you can only move a person of a certain type (for example, if it's a blue person with an arrow, it means you can only move a TOURIST, but if it has the three colours - blue/orange/green - it means you can move anyone that number of spaces).
I hope this clarifies the VIPs at least. If you have any other specific questions, I'm happy to try to answer those. I think it's a really good game, but it definitely has some aspects that aren't seen much in other games, so don't be too discouraged if it doesn't click at first. But also, if you're just not feeling it, no need to force it - not every game is for everyone. No hard feelings either way, but if you're willing to take another shot at it, let me know!
      - Carlo
