  • There are many dark elements of our society that we rarely get to see light being shone upon. Some that if most people knew were taking place, they would be up in arms and legitimately take action. This episode was one of those beaming lights illuminating a nasty scourge taking place. This episode I sit down with Lt. John Nores of the California California Dept. of Fish and Wildlife, highlighting the dangerous and amazing work he and his teammates have done combatting the environmentally devastating marijuana grow sites in CA. A ton of riveting operational stories in this one, and a lot of info that we all need to understand that is taking place. @johnnores
Lt. John Nores Jr. has served as a game warden with the California Dept. of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW). There he co-developed the Marijuana Enforcement Team (MET) and Delta Team, the CDFW’s first comprehensive wilderness spec ops tactical and sniper unit, aimed at combatting the marijuana cartel’s decimation of California’s wildlife resources.

Before anyone comments about marijuana not being illegal. Listen to the episode. That is not what this episode is about. We are having a discussion about how they worked with legal grow-sites to combat the cartels illegal grow sites and dangerous chemicals they were using and crime they were bringing.

Mike Ritland when you say "choke yourself" I would laugh cause it's a mindset. BUT listening to the many pieces that are environmentally impacted, the illegalities, the training and finally the positive shut down of the marijuana gardens, your right WE DON'T GET IT. We are living in our own little bubbles and YOU GUYS did the hard work. I'm embarrassed but I'm appreciative of the pod casts that you do to enlighten us clueless ones. Yes my husband was law enforcement, but so not to get tunnel vision, this expands our reality greatly. Thank you Mr. Nores and your team(s) of individuals for your focus, your intellect, your energy and selflessness. I continue to be extremely humbled by you all. Gods blessings.

As an avid hunter in the state of Pennsylvania this was really enjoyable content and I'm just sorry the guy was of age to retire. The sad thing is the idea of having reservists hunt these criminals in our country is too good of an idea for our politicians and bureaucrats to ever implement and that's why these vigilante groups are forming.

Much respect for this man and our other game wardens that protect our wilderness. I've had the privilege of meeting several of these guys over the years while suturing up wounds on cartel members after dogs get to them. It's a shame that there is a need to concentrate on illegal grows rather than going after poachers. Being an avid hunter I always asked them questions as I repaired wounds. These people are brazen, growing in are national parks not far off walking trails. They describes these grows to me as death zones. Nothing was alive. The illegal pesticides used killed at the nematode(worm) level and up. Also, they were always armed. Mountain lions and bears are not the most dangerous creatures in our mountains.

I dont think much thought has been given to environmental impact as these guerilla grows require land that is off the beaten path, which means our national parks. Hidden away. I am down for growing weed and making a profit but when zero fucks are given about the land, which could mean death if you are hiking with your family if you run across one of these sites. That is a problem. This brings a different perspective. BTW Mike, you have had some amazing interviews and i dig your approach. Hopefully, there will be more. Some other teams guys too and dog stories. CIA types.

Hands-To -Work before changing my life around I was on a lot of huge grows in northern Cali and around plants a big as a car or bigger and those plants did not take 12 gallons of water a day. You’d kill a plant doing that + marijuana plants are not watered EVERYDAY! There’s things like this he says that are clearly false or he’s grossly misinformed but he uses it to push his narrative. I’m not vouching for the Mexicans who trash sites and divert that much water causing problems so don’t get it twisted. He groups all growers making it seem like they all cause devastating effects to the environment when that’s false and I know from first hand experience. He clearly is trying to get more money from people to back his agenda and honestly I think the war on marijuana is fucking dumb and a waste of tax payer money.

Stay Strapped, I appreciate your "expertise" I found this sohumsoils.com/how-much-water-does-it-take-to-grow-cannabis/ which says 1.8 gl per 1/8 ounce of usable cannabis or roughly 1 gl per day per 1 oz of flower (and I am quoting since I am clueless). I found nd it hard to believe that a law enforcement officer who names other LEOs would be lying about what he saw but I get the point about wanting funding. I do think we need to stop scrupelous people from poisoning us and our land especially if they import fertilizer etc. that is prohibited for good reason.
