Undertaking Motorway Idiot. Impatient Road Rage

  • Impatient Idiot on the M65 Motorway undertakes me dangerously twice in a bid to get to their destination faster, and all they do is catch slow moving traffic ahead of them.
    ( In a hurry to go nowhere )
    This is a form of road rage which can end tragic consequences.
    Normally I would have wanted to exit the motorway at the next junction. I might not have seen this idiot if I had changed lanes.

    They're both in the wrong here. The car filming should be using lane 1 unless overtaking, and the blue Seat shouldn't be passing on the left either. See this a lot now, unfortunately.

      @user-hz8kk7ij5m The "car filming" is a Coach and is legitimately using lane 2 to overtake. You're right though about the blue Seat. It shouldn't be passing on the left.

      What video are you watching? The cam vehicle overtakes 2 lorries, a car, and a truck with a trailer within the span of this 90 second video. Pulling back in only to pull straight back out again like the lorry with the forklift on it is pointless.

      @@EyeSpyIdiots You're only overtaking if you're passing a vehicle on your left. If you pull into lane 2 and a vehicle in lane 1 behind you can pass you on the left with the same or more braking distance than you have in front of them left, then you pulled out too early.
      You pulled out too early.
      Maybe the context of the traffic approaching from behind might show that chances to pull out were rare and you took your opportunity, and it wasn't great, but the best you can do given the rest of the bell ends on the road... But this video doesn't show that, and it's not the story told.

      @@Leo99929 pulling out early is actually preferable. It shows forward planning, and increases visibility and braking distance. I’m not talking half a mile in front, but a few hundred metres is better. My pet peeve is the white vans that wait until they’re right up on your bumper and then aggressively move out and overtake.

      @@johnatherton71 thank goodness for a sensible comment . Too many drivers can’t cope with a space in front of them and drive faster just to close the gap, then slow down again, perfectly demonstrated here. Plan ahead - nothing wrong with the coach driver here.

    I like the way the blue lorry moves over to the left after overtaking the truck, and then back to lane 2 when they need to overtake the next car. Good lane discipline means it's not possible for anyone to attempt to undertake it, because it uses lane 1 for driving and lane 2 only when overtaking. 👍

    • @WayneTulip-zm9gw

      Yes lane 1 is for normal driving and lane 2 is for overtaking traffic in lane 1 and lane 3 is for overtaking traffic in lane 2 but if you’re not overtaking anyone get back into lane 1, that’s normal driving but unfortunately not everyone understands. 🙃

    The Seat showed very poor forward planning and no acceleration sense, assuming it wanted to be off at the junction. It’s inconsiderate driving at the very least. If it wanted to be in lane 1, the Seat should have sat just behind the rear of the coach on his near side and not undertaken…….twice!!
    I’d submit the video to the local plod for that area and remove it from RUclips. Let them decide whether to prosecute, or not.
    The coach driver did nothing wrong given the mix of HGVs in front, who would be limited to 56mph. His planning (given its a coach at 60mph) was ‘by the book’.

    I followed a police car doing the speed limit and whilst in the inside lane he did not move into the right to overtake the slow 60mph drivers! I don't see why us normal 70mph drivers have to swap lanes to overtake a lane hogger in the middle lane. Obviously the police also agree.

      Yeah, I pass on the left If I'm going the speed limit in lane 1 and the traffic in lane 2 is going slower I think it's fine and isn't really too dangerous. It's the cars that wizz around weaving across all the lanes passing cars on the right, then the next car on left that's dangerous. I don't like to do it large vehicles though

    • @Leo99929
      @Leo99929 5 месяцев назад +1

      @@EyeSpyIdiots You pulled out behind a lorry that was overtaking. You weren't overtaking, yet. All you did was reduced your braking distance by pulling out early. You were in the wrong lane and made things more dangerous by minimising your braking distance.
      That blue car "undertaking" may have been trying to communicate how you had pulled out too early as it was apparently repeat behaviour you think is normal and acceptable.
      By pulling out early and expecting no one to "undertake" you are effectively reducing the capacity of that section of road by eliminating at least one spot a car could sit in.
      That said, I don't approve of their behaviour. No need to speed up to pass on the inside and then hit the brakes that hard. All unnecessary. You'll never learn and that's not a great communication method so they should have just given you as wide a birth as possible, maybe flashed their lights/honked a horn, and got away from you. Once enough people are flashing and honking you might start wondering why, and by talking to others someone will eventually tell you.

    I wonder how long after the video stops it took for the coach to pull back in to lane 1?... Can we see a longer cut? It might explain the frustration of the blue Seat driver...

    • @EyeSpyIdiots
      @EyeSpyIdiots  5 месяцев назад

      @Leo99929 As soon as it passed the HGV. And it doesn't explain the frustration of the Seat driver. That is plain to see from the start.

    • @Leo99929
      @Leo99929 5 месяцев назад

      @@EyeSpyIdiots Seems an extreme reaction from the Seat when it looks like the right hand lane is relatively free and we know they go into lane 2 to overtake the first HGV? Feels like there's more to their motivation.
      If that Seat was behind you for miles down a two lane high way as you sat in lane 2 doing 63mph whilst lane 1 was doing 56mph and you had opportunity to pull in and let them past, then I could see them being frustrated. We only have the front view from this 92 seconds of the journey to make an assessment.
      From this in isolation, you pulled out early unnecessarily reducing your braking distance and increasing the probability of an accident. You then didn't pull in when you could have, however briefly. (to be fair, I think you did right in this specific instance, though the HGV in front through it worth doing). And it's unclear how promptly you pulled in front of that HGV into the empty lane 1.
      A longer cut showing you pulling back in promptly would really clear things up and show you generally in the right.

    The cam vehicle is in the middle lane and stays behind the lorry in front... lorries are restricted to 60mph, which means the cam vehicle is also driving at around 60mph. The blue car in the left lane was driving slightly faster than the cam vehicle, and the speed limit is 70mph. There is nothing wrong with undertaking on the left, it only becomes a problem(in law) if careless or dangerous, neither of which happened here. This is more of a case of lorries and coach(cam vehicle) using the middle lane to overtake but not really overtaking through lack of planning and circumstance. The blue car did nothing wrong, the cam vehicle did nothing wrong.... this is just a poor situation made worse by slower drivers in the left lane and the outside lane not utilised properly.
