  • Didn't notice the police until after the junction.
    Lately, many police are standing across the junctions to spot RLJs. So far, I have seen one cyclist being pulled over.

    What do you mean are there similar actions for drivers? There's red light cameras fitted around the entire country catching out fining them hundreds, giving out points and banning drivers from driving. The only difference is cyclists don't have license plates so I'm glad they are doing something about it, becoming too common

      Did you see the police catching the bus driver for running red light?

    I get the impression the OP thinks it's wrong for the police to do this. As for their comment regarding similar actions for drivers. Pr**k !

    They should make a trapdoor after every traffic light and a camera with recognition software. You run a red light?! Floep open trapdoor! Gotcha bitch! ☝🏻

    I'm not sure if these are PCSOs, but if so, they are limited in only being able to issue FPNs and *not* penalty points. This means that if an offence carries penalty points and an FPN, a PCSO can't do anything about it. However, the same offence committed by a cyclist would only come with the FPN and so a PCSO can stop them.

    A perfect example of precisely why cyclists should be registered and have to display a registration number. As for the last comment, a perfect entitled cyclists POV, "Everyone else does it so why can't I?" But of course everyone else gets caught by the cameras and their registration numbers. Get license plates on bikes then the cameras can start to make some real money.

  • @58Malt

    All road users (whether powered or not) should be licensed and taxed and required to display ID plates so that all red light jumpers can be penalised without the necessity for physical patrols.

      Yes, this should be the only country in the world where bicycles have to display a licence plate and have to pay a road tax (which car drivers do not pay by the way). We can lead the world in idiocy ! Forward all idiots !

    Government could set up a private company to stop red light jumpers with power to stop and charge would be self funded from fines .have them mobile so they can move around and in plain clothes

    • @driewiel
      @driewiel 5 лет назад +4

      Greedy private companies having to make money by punishing a person on a bicycle going 5 mph. Sure that will work. Maybe have them hide in bushes with camouflage costumes along country roads in case a cyclists doesn't keep both hands on the handlebar?

    • @davidbrooks7113

    Cyclists MUST have insurance to ride the roads and the insurance company then issue a plate to fasten to the bike to prove they have insurance.

    There’s people out there using weapons and physical violence to steal a mans hard earned bicycle , Motorbike ., and god knows what ever else these thrives can lay their hands on , but rather than go after them , they’d rather just catch red light jumpers .

    • @tonetoobtwo
      @tonetoobtwo 5 лет назад +7

      Very narrowminded view Mark. Anyone jumping a red light has the potential to cause a very serious accident. If a driver swerves to avoid a cyclist and then runs over a pedestrian, or if the cyclist who jumped the red light in the first place gets seriously injured and costs the tax payer a fortune in rehab through the NHS, it would make the cost of policing the junction for a few hours quite insignificant.
      Besides which, there is a sign that inidcated a serious accident at that junction, which may be something to do with an increased Police presence. Do try and employ a little common sense before criticising.
