For me and my Mavic Pro, I think you're spot on. I have to admit that all the new tech on the new DJI's are very interesting and really are pulling at my buy now strings. But as much as I want to have the newest and the best I'm going to keep flying the second best Mavic Pro.
    Thanks for another great video.

At a glance I wonder why you did not mention the 100 Mbps video bitrate increase, which should at least improve the picture quality to bring it in line with the Air Also, the camera can actually now turn sideways and look up. I also think all the sensors, quieter flight, incredible stability in wind and better tracking is a BIG plus. Checkout some of these tests elsewhere. There is an easy accessible memory slot without having to open the arms, as well as notch for a phone's menu button, built in phone charging from the controller etc. Hardly as trivial as the rreview suggests. A side-by-side video comparison would have also offered more credibility in my view to this review. In my opinion there is A LOT more to consider ...

Delorentz Consult I literally just bought the Mavic Pro and have a few days left to swap to the Zoom. You may have just gave me a reason to spend a few more bucks. Those are all very valid points.

I was lucky enough to pick up the Mavic Pro for $799 and bought two additional batteries at a local DJI Store for $200 - I already had a pelican case and didn’t feel the large charger was a good option - quite happy with what I got for the price and could not justify another $500 just for the “smooth” zoom - I have the “step” zoom and happy with it - just need to stop video, set zoom level and continue. Huge step up for me from the Phantom 2 Vision - 185,000 meters and 11 hours of flying later - very happy with what I have - go view some of my videos on my RUclips channel.

The MAVIC PRO does have a zoom.. obviously not that great It's All Digital.. you can only do it on 1080p video.. and you can access it usually through that little joystick on the controller...

Oh yeah that's right I forgot you just don't get as much as Zoom...
People forget the mavic pro had a average Zoom but it had one..
They also forget the other little trick on the app when you're on the home screen ( you know where you can see the video fpv if you swipe to the left you get a whole bunch more quick settings..

Just want to thank you for this video. I was on the fence about buying the Mavic2 with all it’s new features, but when I think about all the money I already paid on extra batteries, travel case, upgraded charger, polar pro lenses etc, I’ll stick with my Mavic Pro. Am a hobbyist who can afford to buy the Mavic 2, but I’ll wait it out the next 6-12 months to see what the competition comes out with, or any enhancements DJI makes with the 2.

My problem is I've got " I just want a new drone-itus". Am I being irresponsible? I'm sure I am since I don't have any "real" extra money right now. I have the Pro, and I still think it's a great drone. I'm just thinking how cool it would be to have a zoom and in certain cases, all of the extra sensors the zoom has. But, I'm pushing myself to wait and be more responsible. You did a good comparison here, as usual, and I like how you put the idea of probably waiting for the next major upgrade if you already have the pro, but definitely going for the zoom if we don't already own the old Mavic Pro. Either way, I still think they're great, solid drones, and hard to beat for the features, quality and price. Marc.

Thanks for being the first one RUclips to say what many of us are thinking. The new Mavic 2's are great, and better than most of the drones that have come before them. But there not that much better than the current Mavic Pro, there is no need to upgrade if your happy with your current Mavic. Great video Kelly.

damn you ...your absolutely correct. I bought Mavic Pro two years ago (first month it was announced) and never looked back. Actually ended up with three ...looking at the ENTERPRISE so I can zoom around looking for and calling my dogs when they run off ! why not almost Christmas !

I agree with everything you said except you said "the Mavic Pro does not have any kind of zoom" but it does. It has a 2X step zoom. I use it often. It is not a smooth zoom but stips up an amount of zoom on each push of the little joystick. I am hoping that things like the new POI will find it's way to the Mavic Pro.

This drone is a 150.00 more than my Mavic pro platinum which is the drone that it should be compared to. The new Pro Zoom and the Platinum have the same speed controllers and low noise props. I absolutely love my Platinum, quiet and unbelievably reliable. I will keep it but will be buying the zoom for sure. I feel having a zoom would be very advantageous because you cannot always get as close as you would like to your subject. I will eventually get the 1 inch censor Pro and I will have everything covered as far as drones go for my needs. I think both of these drones are well worth the price if they are as good as my Platinum and I don't see why they wouldn't be from what I have seen so far.

The gimbal construction on the Mavic 2 alone is worth the upgrade over the Mavic Pro! I am loving my Mavic 2 zoom it’s a beast. Also take into consideration that in a few months DJI will start doing gimbal swap program for the Mavic 2, that means 1inch sensor or zoom camera for who ever want to have the best of both worlds. And the gimbal on the Mavic 2 can be removed in less than 5min! It very!!! Easy to do. In my opinion I see the Mavic 2 as an investment if buying one, because it’s going to be around for a long time. And the ActiveTrack 2.0 among other things, is I am a lost for words on how amazing it works.

Agree, I'll be keeping my Mavic Pro for a few more years - perhaps until 2020-21 then buy what ever is the best then....which btw will no doubt be insane in what it can do! Tech is snow balling right now, getting better and better faster and faster driven of course by money but also networking/social media.

@@JamesPond-cd3tp it’s now 2021 and honestly the mavic pro 2 and mavic 2 zoom are still the two best portable for day to day use. If your professional look at a a phantom 4 V2 pro or something along them lines I’m gonna buy a Mavic pro or mavic 2 zoom

After watching this I am glad I just bought the Mavic Pro. I paid $713 on Ebay for a brand new sealed in box Mavic Pro 3 weeks ago. Just looked this morning and they have them buy it now for $750. That’s a $500 difference from the original pro to the zoom.
If you do buy one on eBay, check out the sellers reviews to make sure they are good sellers and don’t buy from someone who hasn’t sold anything. Also, eBay has a money back guarantee so if someone sells you something you don’t like, you can return it for free. No I don’t work for eBay... I just like getting good deals :) I searched for weeks to get the best deal and no one could beat ebays prices. I couldn’t be happier with my original pro.

The new mavics aren't much of an upgrade to justify changing.
Don't need a better camera. (Not everyone is a super duper blogger photographer)
Don't need quieter rotors. (It's not loud at all 10m away)
Don't need a min or two extra flight time. (Have 5 batts)
Don't need removable sticks. (Have an ebay case for 4 quid)
Don't need the extra avoidance features. (Never use them)
The only thing that's good is the better gimbal. (But if you take care of your Mavic this doesn't matter)

For someone buying a Platinum now (which is the drone that directly compares to the Zoom) they will pay 1050.00 to 1100.00 new. The Zoom is 150.00 to 200.00 more. That is worth the cost to me. For those spending over a thousand dollars, another 150.00 isn't that much.

Very nice Kelly! I wanted to get a Mavic a couple months back. I’m still on the fence. I’ve seen your other videos you did with your Mavic. So you as well as DJI have my attention. With the releases of the Mavic 2 and the rise in prices, I’ve got to figure if I still want one. Granted I could be happy with a Mavic Pro. The Zoom and Pro versions are very nice. I’ll have to think on it. Thanks again for your informative videos.

Good review RSD. I’m sure the new Mavic 2s are great platforms with improved sensors and enhanced cameras. Since I already own a multitude of platforms [3 phantoms, a Mavic pro, and several semi-hobby grade drones syma, mjx Bugs2, XK380,XK350, and a couple of Hubsans] I personally see no reason to upgrade anytime soon. Flying strictly as a hobby the birds I have more than meets my needs and even in most cases exceeding them. I guess we will have to see what DJI will do with the next generation [phantom 5?] of units they push out. If they would bring to the table an affordable fixed wing platform I would seriously consider it.

Yes indeed ;I’m still on the fence . To upgrade or not too. Having the Mavic Pro with Stealth props is really all I need. Is it worth spending $1500 To have every thing I need to replace what I already have in my MP . Mmmmmm?.???? Not sure. And I’m not a high tech cinema photographer by any means. So the M2Pro is more then I need but I’d lose the zoom feature although digitally I still use it i in 1080 HD . I may just sit back for another round and see what comes up next.

I thought about getting the 2 Zoom, but when I figured out that I can do the dolly zoom in post with the 2 Pro, I'm going pro all the way. That 1 inch sensor is worth it. Can't say the same for the 2 Zoom or regular Mavic Pro.

Can you please answer 2 questions for me?
    1. Does the Mavic 2 Zoom need to utilize a cell phone with cellular service as the screen or can it be an old galaxy without cellular service for the screen??
    2. You stated that DJI was coming out with its own screen built into its remote, do you know when that will come out ?

How critical is it in pointing the controller exactly at the drone for with ocusync? I’ve seen some videos with people standing to the side and still getting pretty far. Hi! Hey, I don't know if it's because of the codec in which you exported your project at the end but for the exception of the last shots at the end of your video, the footage of both you Mavic is terribly loaded with artifacts and not usable in any type of project as far as I'm concern. I have the Mavic Pro and don't have artifacts anything close to that in my videos. But I'm assuming it's all about your export. Any precision on that? Thanks!

What if this is my first "real" drone and I could find a very good condition used Pro or Titanium? There are tons on the market. Assuming the quality was there and was in really good condition, would you still think it might be better off going with a used Pro and holding off for the Pro X?

As for me i ordered the Mavic pro 2 just because of the 1" sensor.I wanted to ask if you have a recommendation as far as a memory SD card goes. Everyone talks about new features and the cool things in the new drones from DJI, However nothing on SDcards.

mavic pro 1 has one problem- fragile gimbal- zoom has more robust and not that sensitive for any damage , its worth upgrade to zoom from m1

I am debating on either the pro platnum or the zoom today. I want it for seeing deer and other animals .my mavic air cant get close enough with out scaring them .only fox dont run. But I was hoping the zoom.would be better since can zoom in from.distance

The MP does have zoom(maybe early video) as long as you're not in 4k☝🏾

Curious if there will be some kind of a software upgrade to add the better tracking to the Mavic air.

Just curious, when you've done video's in the past, did you think you were addressing professional photographers??? Something tells me this wouldn't be the channel for them. I could say most drone owners that watch this are are hobbyist . These videos are getting redundant . Thanks anyway.

But its just leaked some information that mavic pro, osmo, and a lot of phamtom lines, will stop production by DGI, so geting new pieces and bateris and fly more kit, will no longer be possible, when the stock run out

The question churning in me is this...... is it worth the upgrade to go from Mavic Air to Mavic 2 Zoom. Actually just add, not replace. I would keep my MA..... Mavic Air is my first and only drone btw.....

    • @readysetdrone
      @readysetdrone  6 лет назад +1

The Mavic 2 Zoom is a much better drone than the Mavic Air. Air is great, but Ocusync makes a huge difference. They are different - different flight experiences. If you can swing having both, you should go for it!

if you want my opinion when they did side-by-side comparisons with the mavic 2 zoom in the mavic 2 Pro I ACTUALLY THOUGHT THE MAVIC ZOOM LOOKED BETTER!! The contrasting colors looked more like the phantom 4 Pro!!!
A lot of people before the mavic 2 zoom and the mavic 2 Pro were using the mavic pro exclusively for professional situations.. and one professional the film poet ( A TRUE PROFESSIONAL MAKING MONEY WITH HIS DRONES PICTURES AND VIDEOS I'm pretty sure that's the guy ) carry the mavic pro with him because of how compact it was. he carried his ridiculous expensive cameras and the mavic pro with him when he did big Time weddings and other situations.. he chose this over the phantom 4 Pro... He got ridiculously amazing results PROFESSIONAL RESULTS with the mavic pro because he knew what to do pre and post production..
But I'm not going to go over this again and again. Bottom line it's been proven when you're using social media, and even people you do weddings for. Nobody has noticed any difference between the phantom 4 Pro and The Old mavic Pro and everything in between.. the biggest difference you're going to see is when you're at your own home using a 4K television and pointing the difference out side by side!! Which never happens in the real world when you're doing a professional shoot for weddings or people..
So absolutely 100% especially with social media and how people don't have 4K phones, televisionand everything else, not to mention billion dollar companies like the NFL, even Comcast, Xfinity don't broadcast 4k on their boxes ( or almost nothing ), the data 4K uses, the streaming issues, etc..... 1080P, and 720p on social media and what people watching their homes are by far what people mostly use..
all the video compression destroys most of the differences that anyone would notice..
I just thought I would give my two cents..
FYI plenty of videos out there in data proving that most people can't tell the difference between these drones on social media more often than not got it wrong when comparing the videos without knowing.. that includes even the so-called professional videographers...
    The facts are the facts..
Yes the picture and video quality is better on the mavic 2 Pro and the mavic zoom.. but really not that much difference in the real world.
Any of the ( mavic Pro series ) drones can be used in professional applications if you know what you're doing and they will all give you excellent results with no complaints!!!!
    ;)

Hell yes its worth the upgrade that is not even. A. Compairson. I mean 1inch sensors compact quit more senors the phantom 4 pro is no longer number 1. The 2 new mavic blow all drones away that is the truth everyone trying to save the old mavic and the phantom 4 pro not by by all phantom drones lol now what are they gonna say the phantom 4 pro has a 1inch senord so does the new mavic and smaller and compact drone sorry but for the price of a phantom 4 pro you can get the new mavic. Either one any smart person would not get thr phantom 4 pro at all these 2 new mavic drones beat all drones and that is the truth everyone is trying to sell the phantom 4 pro lol no one is buying all these people trying to save all drones i have both newavic drones and they are way better then amy drone on the market even the zoom witch the pro cannot do at and the phantom 4 pro doesnt have a senors on the top thanks dji no longer need the phantom 4 pro loud ass drone hard to carry or travel with

Yes - much smaller case to haul around and easier/quicker to get up in the air.
