More videos like this PLEASE!! This hit home for me. It’s like you read my mind!! Thank you for sharing your funny and honest thought process on this journey!! Hugs from Las Vegas!! 🥰🏜🎰💖🌸
Stay out of stores period! People just want to shop for fun or something to do but this is a horrible idea. We buy things we don’t need but think we want. I don’t shop anymore ever unless I absolutely need something.
If you run across something while decluttering that you think a friend or family member might want, text them a photo of the item on the spot. Often you will get an answer in short order and can take action on that item immediately, either adding the item to your donation box or putting it in your car to drop off at that person's house.
I LOVE this idea so much!!!! I never think to take pictures of stuff. I think that is so brilliant! I wait around until I hear from them or see them and the stuff just sits for a long time, taking a pic and sending it right away is fast & easy! Thank you so much for sharing this with me! I luv it! And thanks for always being here with me friend, Hugs 🥰
Lol that looks like the exact size and brand of bra I currently wear. You’re reminding me I need to purge all my old style of bras I’ve kept “just in case.”
I’m only four minutes in, but I had to stop and comment on how much I love this video already! The what if I keep it? Place? Purpose? questions are brilliant. 🎉👏🏻
I'm still thinking and praying for Ian, your family. I'm finally back from Istanbul after 6 wks. Right now, I'm going to clean out old Bday cards for the last 30+ yrs. I LOVE YOU, YOUR MOM AND YOUR CHANNEL!!
When you were talking about giving friends and family items that are still 'good,' it reminded me of your mom who likes to give items to family. It's a way to show how you care about them.
This was so helpful, Danni. I'm starting my decluttering journey. Donated 13 bags and 23 boxes, which felt amazing. Even though it was mostly from closets, drawers and cupboards. I know I have much more to let go, but feel I made a good start.
I love this perspective ❤️ It reminds me a bit of Dana K White's decluttering questions: 1 - if I was looking for this item where would I look for it FIRST, and 2 - if I needed this item would it even occur to me that I had one? Dana's podcast and books have been super helpful for me in being realistic but not just trying to 'power through' with getting rid of hard stuff. Definitely recommend!
I liked this video. I am good at decluttering but my mother-in-law crocheted an afghan for us many years ago. She died in 1996. We used it for many years, and it is completely worn out and not repairable, but I have struggled to declutter it. This video helped me decide that it no longer has a purpose or place in our home.
I'm so sorry friend, It was devastating when Ian's mom passed, we miss her so much and her items are sooo hard to go through. Those are the hardest items to part with, I've been there so many times, I still struggle with loved ones items. You're doing an amazing job and should be so proud of yourself. Thanks for watching and always being here with me, I appreciate you so much. Lots of luv and hugs. 🥰😘
When my kids grew up and moved out I binned all my cake tins 8 years later back to making muffins but just 1 dozen tin as only mixture fits in one bowl at a time that’s enough 👍🏻👍🏻
If you really want to gift toys and such ask your local school or church. I have family members that are teachers and they appreciate some toys, games and books for their classrooms since they provide a lot of those things themselves. Our elementary school nurse looks for pants and things for younger kids in case of accidents. They also take coats as well. Just an idea for future Danielle. LOL
Great questions, thank you!😊 in regards to donating things and later replacing them, we must realize our lives and needs change over time. And it’s ok, no guilt. But it’s so difficult😂
100000% Agree!!! Its so true! Our lives are constantly evolving and changing, at one point in time something works and at other times it doesn't. This is such a GREAT point!!! And we really have to let go of that guilt, even though it is so difficult! Always, always so HAPPY to see you here with me friend! Lots of luv xo
I can see you writing a book one day. You have a lot to offer. I’ve been watching you a long time and have seen you grow so much ❤ Still praying for Ian and for an easy fix ❤
Luv & appreciate you so much friend! Thanks for all the love, support & prayers I cant tell you enough how much that means to Ian, my family & I! Hugs 🥰🥰😘
I love your two questions. A different perspective is helpful. I also love this length video as I often hesitate to commit to watching any video that is an hour long. Thank you for sharing your journey!
Keep a running list somewhere, maybe on your phone, of the DIY projects you would like to complete. As you add items to that list, it should become clear which of these you will actually complete and which are just fantasy projects. Schedule the first group of DIY projects on your calendar. Delete the others from your list and declutter the materials.
I cannot express to you enough how much your comments have helped me! Another BRILLIANT idea! This is the type of organization I need, NEED, in my life! Keeping a running list on my phone, esp. for DIY projects, is such a fantastic idea! And I love that you stated "fantasy" projects because a lot of what I want to do is fantasy projects and they dont get done, they most likely never will and then all the crap I accumulate or get for these fantasy projects just sit and collect dust! I wrote this comment down, I would like to talk more about this in a future video, this is amazing advice! Thank you again!
Please know you are not alone with "vomit of our your mouth"! This is why I LOVE your channel!!!! Note: I make comments along the way! Thank you for your channel, otherwise I would think I am the ONLY one who vomits from her mouth!!!
Danni I've just discovered your channel. I've been watching decluttering videos on RUclips for a few weeks in a bid to get on top of my house, and I just love your content and journey. The other channels feel a bit glossy, but yours is just so real! (I mean that entirely as a compliment 😂) It's lovely to relate to another mum with the struggles we go through keeping on top of the house and life and the kids and life and sanity etc etc... When you started discussing the internal struggle you had with that bloody box of Legos I was like yessss! I do the same with all my kids unwanted stuff. And no, none of my friends want any of it either! This is one of many many things you've said that resonates! (And dont get me started on the festive decorations fetish...) It's good to know I'm not doing this alone 😊 Keep it up my love, you've done brilliantly! Really love watching your journey and letting it spur me on to do the same. And just to say I live in London, England. Isn't it amazing no matter the continent, us mum's are all going through the same battles and efforts every day?!
Yes, this helps a ton! Guilt & the "what ifs?" in the decluttering process have definitely stopped me way more times than I want to admit 😂 oh! & also the spare cabinet to hide things I can't decide on..yes, so true! thank you for your genuineness! Love your videos!
ooo! I LOVE this little flip. It's really great! I consider myself pretty good at letting go of things, but I can see it already helping me to flip that script by just asking a different question! Thank you so much for this!
Its funny how your combo of sensibility and creativity (good things!) caused you to keep so many decor items and diy -able items to the point of being held back by them (bad thing 😢). Im so glad you are finding a balance with your stuff.
My decluttering journey started when our 3 sons left home as adults. They left behind all the stuff they didn't want. Great! Then I got a job in another city, but we kept the family home, rented it out. Got a container to put all the good stuff in. On returning, as I went through this good stuff, most of it went in the bin. Only about 1/4 of this huge container was usable. What a waste of $$. Since then I regularly go through things to see what is usable and not. I have great intentions but little excitement in crafting now. So that is my next big project. Releasing all the supplies and reading materials. I still have way too many incompletes , that need final touches. Most are historical costumes that need homes. I will get to see the projects for sure. Someone else can enjoy the finished items and have fun in it. Its wise to keep the ball rolling and not stagnate on it. Xx😊
This is genius. Like a positive affirmation the default position is its going unless theres a reason for it to stay. It makes objects earn their right to take up space in your home, mind and life.
Will try for sure the what if i keep it question. I needed this different point of view to finish the decluttering. It might answer the question left to answer.
Hi, my friend! Love your video! You do a great job on these videos! How is Ian doing? Hope things are going well. Love you and can’t wait for the next one. Hugs to all! 🍁🥰👍💜🍁
Awwww thank you friend, your the best and I appreciate you so much 🥰 and thank you so much for asking, Ian is doing really good, he'll be seeing the cardiologist soon. But he's been taking his meds every day and so far so good 🙏 how are you doing? Hope you're doing well and you have an amazing rest of your week. Sending lots of love 😘
If you have a local Buy Nothing group, that’s a great place to give things away to folks who need and will enjoy them. (Kids things always go really quickly on mine.) I don’t have family nearby, so I like to post my decluttered items there first. Then if no one takes them, I donate them.
Great job, Danni!! I put all decluttered items directly in my car. That way it's out of my house and I can either offer it to a family or friend when I see them or when I'm near a donation center, drop it off. Hope Ian is doing well. Much love to you and your family.
Hi Danielle, Also a good rule of thumb is if you can replace it for under 20.00 let it go especially if you are having second thoughts. I’ve been at the point in my life actually for years that I haven’t had piles or anything to get rid of. Now that I do have my grandson and I do take care of him M-F I have toys but they all have a place and get put away every single day out of sight because I don’t want my home looking like a toy store. 🥰 I’M SURE you could find a tray like the one that was broken at your mom’s house, I believe you could find almost anything at your mom’s house. 😂 She’s certainly a saver but we all love her. You are doing a fabulous job. In all my years I could maybe think of one thing that I regret getting rid of. Haha Those muffin tins, I remember when I repurchased mind. I started making muffins and cupcakes for my grandson BUT I bought mine from Goodwill they looked brand new because someone like us donated them. lol Have an amazing day and always looking forward to the next video! 💝
@@justkiddin84 Everyone has to use their own personal judgment on everything we do in life. If you are not using something regardless how much it costs it’s not going to put food on your table or pay a bill so getting rid of it or keeping it would not make a difference unless you can sell it. Best regards to you and yours.
That is a really good idea creating a budget for the items that you may have to replace. That's brilliant! And I totally understand where you're coming from with the toys, I personally need to figure out a better organizational system for the toys, I just feel like they get thrown in random tubs or they're scattered everywhere. And you are right, I think my mom has everything and anything, I'm sure I'll be able to find a similar tray over there that she doesn't want or she's been saving as a gift for the last 10 years 🤣🤣 I got to head back over there soon and make another decluttering video, those are my absolute favorite videos to make! We miss Robyn 😆 and same I think there's only been maybe a couple of items that I've regretted letting go of either that I'd say like 99% of the stuff I've decluttered I don't remember nor Miss. Thank you so much for watching and always being here with me friend I appreciate you so much 🥰🥰🥰
@@justkiddin84I completely understand. I now receive a small pension, but it's a fortune compared to when I was on welfare. I can get rid of some things now that I never would have before, because I knew that I could not afford to replace anything. A lot of people don't understand what it is like to be poor, not just having to be frugal, but having nothing extra at all beyong the absolute necessities or often not even that. Now I try to donate what I can part with to the charities who helped me in the past.
I’ve been watching you for a while but this is my first time commenting. I love your videos but this one was the best one yet! I needed a different way of thinking about the items that trip me up. Thank you!
Amanda I am so glad you commented! So good hearing from you & thank you for being here with me friend! I appreciate you so much! And I cant tell you enough how much that means to me, I was very nervous about todays video, but I think from now on when a thought pops in this hot mess head of mine, i think im just gonna turn that camera on and go for it LOL who knows what i'll think of next....i sure dont 😂Lots of luv🥰😘
Hi Danni, videos like this have helped me declutter tremendously. My cleaning is so much easier and faster now. I also worry about what ifs. But at the end of the day my house looks better and my stress levels are down. Thanks for the motivation and sharing the tips you acquired from the book. All the best to you and your family.
Jenny I cannot tell you how many times that has happened to me, and honestly a lot of it had to do with me questioning whether or not I should declutter it, the "what ifs of decluttering" Decluttering is such a tedious time-consuming emotional process, there were so many times when I wanted to throw my hands up in the air, and just yell "WHY??" 😆but over time decluttering became so much easier and I started to become motivated and more confident, I also, honestly dont really miss anything ive decluttered. And now im just getting right to "purpose & place" and its really helped me! You're do AMAZING!!!! And you should be so proud of yourself! Im here with ya friend! Thanks for watching & being here with me! Lots of love 🥰🥰
I have found that “what if I need it?” is a way to avoid the true question…”Why do I have this?”. It really is a way to self sabotage progress. You are doing great on your journey. I have been a subscriber for only a few months but can see how far you’ve come👏🏻🙂
I’ve been getting rid of a lot of things and have no regret. I used to buy everything from dollar tree because everyone else was. I found I wanted quality decor and things I loved and a curated style of my own. I couldn’t be happier with my home. It’s beautiful for me and I love my little sanctuary. Keeping your family in my prayers. Enjoy the day.
Totally, totally agree!!! 100% I used to get a lot, alot of stuff from doallr tree and grant I still go to Dollar Tree, but its usually essential stuff like toothpaste, soap, cleaning brushes things like that, I used to go over board with decor from Dollar Tree, but now im like you, I tend to go for mor quality stuff vs the less expensive decor, there are times when I'll periodically find a good piece of decor from DT but i dont get nearly as much stuff from there as I used to. The DT was a big problem for me at one point in time LOL. And curating your own personalized style is the BEST way to decorate! I again agree 100% My home is my sanctuary too...funny thats what my mom has always said, that reminded me of Robyn LOL speaking of which HA I gotta head back over there soon! LOL Your so so sweet Rae, thank you from Ian, myself and my whole family! We love & appreciate you so much friend! Sending a big virtual hug 🥰🥰
OMG I LOVE the name of your bin "purgatory bin" how brilliant and how super fitting LOL! I feel like everyone needs a purgatory bin, I personally need to create more of these bins because a lot of times the unsure items get scattered in my usual clutter zone areas LOL. Thanks for watching & being here with me friend! xo
I've been decluttering for many many years and the single item that I have regretted donating is a stove top kettle. Even though we primarily use an electric kettle, there has just been enough times that I wanted the gas one again.
Loved this video and shared it! I have also learned when i go to like a dollar tree or any other store i walk around the store with an item and try to picture it in my home. If i cant picture it being there, i put it back. I used to buy stuff and would "make it work" but then didnt like it when i brought it home.
This is one of your best videos ever Danni! Woman… your poise?!! Wow-talk about growth and polish!!! I loved your advice about What If… great FRESH approach… (yup I capped FRESH bc it’s rare to hear new ideas about decluttering these days) Keep up the great job and glad Ian is back on his feet… your Honey Bunch :)
I can't tell you enough how much that means to me, I was so nervous about this video so this made my week! Thank you friend! And I too am so glad my honey bunch 😆🥰 is doing much better, he sees the cardiologist on the 9th, so I'm hoping we can get a better game plan going. Your the sweetest and I appreciate you so much. Lots of luv 😘
O Danni - such a brilliant vid, thnx. So many areas you touched on spoke to me & helped. We did manage to move to the bungalow & as I couldn't downsize bc of my health, it continues. My hardest area? - It's the gifts that I've bought for friends & family - many of whom don't want them now or the kids have grown over the stage etc. I know that I need to donate them, but I'm really finding it hard as I want to get some of the money back 😏 Praying for Ian's health to improve. As always 🙏 for you and the family mxxx ❤
Hi Danni one of my favourite vlogs was your garage tidy. 😊 As winter is fast approaching... is your garage still tidy and can you still fit your car in? Also what other winter prep do you do?
That garage series was scary and fun all at once 😆well there has been some new developments 😂Ian threw some bags of insulation in there because he wants to insulate the garage...or maybe the mudroom...or maybe both, lol not sure what his plans are, so we have that in there and than theres crap I left in there from the series and some random furniture I moved in there from previous makeovers, but either that it looks pretty good 😂🤣🤣the good news is, its not nearly as bad as when I made that series, so thats good. I honestly dont park in the garage, I dont really go in there, which we really should start parking our cars in there, esp. during winter, that was the whole reason why I cleared it out and I still didnt use it for the vehicles. uggggh. Minus the garage and mudroom I dont really do much winter prepping although Ian does yard prep work before winter. However we are going to completely redo the basement before winter, Im excited about that! I wrote you a book...I think I literally vented and mapped out my winter plans in this comment to you 😂 Appreciate you so much friend, thanks for watching & being here with me 🥰
Glad you are doing OK now, since Ian’s health news. Hope Ian is adjusting to his health diagnosis too now he’s had sometime to process. Anyway, I think this video will honestly really help people because (and I agree) the guilt questions that come up when decluttering can be really confusing and debilitating to the decision making process. Asking, 1. Is something useful in that moment? and 2. Where will the item be placed, contained or stored until it’s used? really can help clarify things in our mind. I also agree that being brutally honest about items and not second guessing ourselves is important too. Always worth trying new techniques and methods, especially if what we have tried already isn’t working.
You are so sweet Beth! Thank you so much! Ian is doing really well, he said his meds are helping a lot, which is fantastic and we have a cardiologist appt on the 9th so hopefully we can get a better game plan at that point! And I couldnt agree with you more! Guilt can really confuse and debilitate us, its such a strong and awful feeling, I try as hard as I can to push it away and ignore the guilt, even though it is very difficult at times, esp. with sentimental items! And if I wasnt brutally honest with myself, Id probably still have a house full of junk LOL. Always so HAPPY to see you here with me friend, thanks for watching, sending lots of luv 🥰🥰
@@danniraearranged Glad the meds are helping Ian. Wishing you well the the cardiologists appointment. Take care to you and the family. Love to your mum and dad and Ian’s dad and girlfriend too. ❤
LOL I swear its probably one the main questions I ask myself, it always stumps me. I'm excited to see how well this works. And YAY! thank you so much, I really hope you liked the video, next video we're doing all the things HA! Its sure to be a hot mess 😂 Always so HAPPY to see you here with me friend! Have a great rest of your week and weekend! Hugs xo
This was great! I loved the analysis with the bra. Lol it's funny that you went through that with muffin tins. Some time this past year, i bought muffin tins because i felt like i should have certain things on hand. You know how you'll realize it would be good to bake and then you have to buy ALL the stuff. 😄
About the toys... I have an old TV cabinet so popular in the 80's 90"s for my nephew. He is two I have toys. I bought on sale for when he 4, 6, 8 and 10 years old. If something does not fit it has to go!! I showed it my brother-in law, he took pictures to show his friends of the Legos for 4 and up, " see what my son has when he is old enough." It si a "hoarder" place but the stuff cannot be more than the space. Think about such a cabinet in the basement. I also have birthday cards by years in the that cabinet so when he is 8 I have his card. something to think about.
I've asked myself "Where am I going to put this?" many times for items I might want for the kitchen. No space, so nowhere. It can't come home. Now, hold onto your coffee, there are some items I really have to make space to store. The difference with these items? When I thought "Where am I going to put the things?", my answer was "I have to get rid of the things that are in the space I want to use." My brain just let go of the things I'd kept for years. Poof. The space was more valuable to me than the things currently occupying the space. I think your brain is already there. Space has a value that is equal or greater than things. For me, space is a place to put things. Those lower glass door cabinets in the 4 season? Empty, for me in my brain, means the space is being wasted. I think you see the space being empty as a value, which it is. "Purpose and Place" is how we've been clearing out our parent's home. When going through an estate process, drilling down to "purpose and place" helps you greatly in making decisions. When you get bogged down, you step away, take a breath and go back to "purpose and place" in order to take away any "guilt" of getting rid of things you simply can't keep. We are not museums and are not required to keep something because it was acquired by someone we love. Well, now I"M the one rambling. Have a great weekend!
I LOVE YOUR COMMENTS!!! There always so extremely helpful, you give the best advice but also put things into perspective! " now hold onto your coffee" 😆 luv it! When you said "the space was more valuable to me than the things currently occupying the space", 🤯 this just makes perfect sense. And I think you're right, I think i am there or for sure ready to just clear a space. One thing that I keep forgetting to tell myself is that it's sometimes good even necessary to remove old items so new more valuable/used/important things can go. And I didn't even realize that this is what we've been doing at my parents... I honestly didn't even realize that's the process we've been doing. Speaking of my parents, I think it's time to head back over there and do another decluttering video with Robyn 😆 I kind of want to talk to her a little bit more about the death cleaning method, I'm very curious if one day she'll actually do that method? Thank you for all your amazing comments and for always being here with me friend, luv and appreciate ya so much 🥰😘
Hi thank you for your love and time you take in sharing what you have learned I a definitely going to give it a go and see what happens Big hug and my prayer for you and your family and as always i will be looking forward to see you the next time X 🫂
Brilliant new way of thinking, Danielle! Thank you so much. I have already thought of three things that I will be getting rid of,using this new thought process. 😃👏
Thanks so much for this video! I‘ve been following you for a while now and always enjoy your videos - especially when you explain your thought process behind decluttering/keeping items. I have been on my decluttering journey for several years now (with kids there is always something to declutter…), but your question really helped me get rid of some more items! Seems to be especially applicable to creative stuff - I decluttered stickers and washi tape, I always feel guilty about not using it, no purpose, not really a place for it either 😅
Don't know if someone commented about this yet, but for the pans... they're pretty versatile, you don't have to only use them for muffins or cupcakes. You can make easy breakfasts with them or little tarts/pies or other things for lunches or snacks. There are recipes you can search for and for a lot of things, you can make them in bulk and then freeze them and just reheat when you want to eat some. That could help give them a little more purpose so that they can be useful even if you don't want or need to make muffins or cupcakes.
Hi Danni decluttered my granddaughters clothes she’s so tall her dresses look small so they had to be decluttered there is always something to declutter even if a cookie pan needs to be decluttered then replaced sometimes things start to look shabby then time for a new replacement great video Danni ❤
Hope Ian is doing well. My cousins house burned down and all that sentimental stuff went up in smoke. She doesn’t keep anything now. I’m learning as I get older. No one will want all my crap! I don’t want most of it. My sister held onto her daughter’s baby stuff. They are 58 & 60. They have the stuff she framed up for them about 10 years ago . Neither one has hung it up, ever! Lessons learned.
OMG that is awful, I'm so sorry that happened. I hope everyone was okay. I would be devastated. But I totally understand where her and you are coming from. Trying to figure out a purpose and place for all of your items, questioning whether or not you should declutter it, it can be a really hard process but in the end it's just stuff, there just things, things most likely no one will want so why keep it, I agree with you 💯 always so happy to see you here with me friend. And thank you, Ian is doing really good, he has a cardiologist appointment on the 9th, so hopefully at that point we can set up a game plan but he said the meds are helping a lot which is fantastic. Lots of luv 😘
This was very helpful as you talked about the "what if" questions. It will help me as I continue to declutter my home! Thank you for your great videos. I think you are an awesome, amazing person! I love your positive attitude and your sense of humor. God bless you and your wonderful family!
Okay you have pulled at my heartstrings, you are the absolute sweetest and made my month! I cannot tell you enough how much that means to me! Thank you friend! I am so grateful you are here with me! God bless you and your family! Sending lots of love 🥰🥰😘
Luv & appreciate ya so much friend, thank you!!! PS I just got done writing you a book on your book collection question LOL That really was a tough one! xo
It was greatly beneficial for some of my decor items. Thank you very much. Can I share one of my decluttering tricks? I often tell myself that if I know I'll need to declutter in the future, why not do it now.:D
I do know there are a "few" items that I do regret letting go of in a "whim decluttering spree". I was just tired of looking at it and tired getting heat from the spouse over it, but, I haven't bothered to try and replace them either. That tells me that maybe I just wasn't ready to let go yet, felt pressured to do so. However, there are just a couple items that aren't readily available to replace, those I probably think about and beat myself up over worse. It is really funny that you are taking this new question approach because I have also started asking myself different questions about items. IF I make myself be brutally honest about whether I WILL use it or make it or can justify finding a space for it, I have to answer mostly "NO" and I "let it go" and actually sing "Let IT GO!" . My farewell. Living out of town I don't get to haul off things often, so I put into a box or bag up in old grocery sacks and I don't look at them or think about them again. Even when I drop off. I don't look at the items. Goodby clutter, hello peace of mind! :)
So when it comes to items to potentially give/gift someone else, you can ask yourself “what if I never mention it to them?” They would never miss the item because they would have never known it was even an option!
Sentimental items should have a bin that they can be put into so yes they do have a spot to go to. If the bin or box is full then you need to actually go through it and let something else go to fit the new item you would rather keep.
danni, i am so thankful for you and your effervescent point of view! you always know just what to say to make the world better (and decluttering loads easier) “what if i keep it?” is a brilliant question and you’re right: it eliminates the pressure - amazing! oh, and thanks for the giggles when you were talking to your bra 😂 lots of love from southern california 💜
Awww thank you so much for asking he is doing really good, he has an appt. with the cardiologist on the 9th, hopefully we'll be able to get a game plan set up, but he said the meds are really helping, thank goodness! You are so sweet to ask, im so grateful for you friend! Blessings to you and yours! Hugs 🥰😘
Thank you so much for all you do to help others. I love and look forward to your videos. Thank you for this video and yes I would love to see more like this one. Plan and purpose is a great and stress free way to declutter. My mom pasted and I have slowly been parting with some of her items, but I think it will go faster now with asking myself these questions and not focusing so much on the thought that it was hers. Love you, and praying for your family daily.
My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family 🙏🙏🙏 Im sending you so much love right now ❤️Letting go of items that are from the people we have loved and lost is not easy, not easy at all. Its a very emotional process and if there is a way anyway to make the decluttering process a little easier a little less emotional, i'll take it! I hope asking the questions "purpose" or "place" helps you in your decluttering journey, but know you are doing an amazing job! Its taken me years to declutter items that ive inherited and the best piece of advice I can give, is please be kind to yourself, give yourself grace, take your time and do it your way, whatever way feels right for you and works best for you! Luv & appreciate you so much friend, im so grateful you are here with me! Sending a big virtual hug 🥰🥰
Great video! I’ve been listening to Dana K White (a slob comes clean) on audio book (she has a couple) and her questions have been very helpful for me too… The two questions are: If I needed this item, where would I look for it? ( take it there) If I needed this item, would it ever occur to me that I already have one? (If not, get rid of it because I'd just buy a new one if I needed it.)
Hey Friend, So glad things are better for Ian and the family. Just know we are gere for you no matter what it is. I still beed to declutter our master closet but im waiting for the opportunity to do it with my husband ( its mostly his stuff). He works from home but us always on the go, so its hard to get him as he himself doesn't like decluttering. Great advice, i may use that when we do actually declutter our closet.
Awwww thank you Karen 🥰🥰🥰 means so much to us that you're here friend, seriously your comments, everyone's comments had me emotional 😭 my heart was filled with gratitude. So blessed and grateful for all of you. The master closet is always a super time-consuming and tedious job, so I totally understand waiting for your husband because you kind of have to block out a lot of time to go through it, uninterrupted time. Most of what's in our closet is also my husband's lol, I think our husbands are a lot alike lol. And for whatever reason when I ask myself if I should keep it instead of asking if I should declutter it it almost immediately took the pressure of decluttering it off. So far it's been working really well. If it doesn't have a purpose or place it's just not that important it's my new outlook. Luv ya lady 😘
You've been with me a long time friend, thank you! I can't tell you enough how much that means to me! So very grateful your here with me! Sending lots of luv 😘
Good idea! Clear and concise. Adding stress is not the point of decluttering, so that is a better way to look at it! Purse bra must go!😂 I wasn’t trying to guilt you about the muffin tins-I just thought, you have kids! They will want them.😂 I have a bowl for the odd seemingly apported bits of things-odd little parts, screws, etc. When it starts to fill up, I go through again. If they are still mysterious, they go to a section of the tool box. When that gets straightened, and they are still unknowns, I either use them for art or they go to Habitat. Someone knows what they are!😂
Totally agree, I feel like if there's any way possible to make the decluttering process easier, less stressful the better. For whatever reason when I ask myself "what if I keep it?" It almost immediately took the pressure of decluttering off, I was just kind of taken back by it. And LMBO 🤣🤣🤣 the purse bra 😆 when I found that I was like hmm this is a little big but I could make it work....no, no I can't 😆 I don't know why I do this to myself, and great idea with the bowl, I think everyone should have a bowl like that, especially for the little random stuff. But what a fantastic idea, that if there's items in the bowl that don't have a home you use it for art. I absolutely love that how cool 😎 always always so happy to see you here with me, big virtual hug 😘
More videos like this PLEASE!! This hit home for me. It’s like you read my mind!! Thank you for sharing your funny and honest thought process on this journey!! Hugs from Las Vegas!! 🥰🏜🎰💖🌸
Suggestion: Stay out of the dollar stores. I had to do this with thrift stores. I could always find great stuff there that I didn’t need.
Stay out of stores period! People just want to shop for fun or something to do but this is a horrible idea. We buy things we don’t need but think we want. I don’t shop anymore ever unless I absolutely need something.
So true 👍
I can count on one hand how many times I’ve regretted decluttering certain items in the last 20 years. All in all, it was worth it for the long game.
Yes texting and asking makes quick decisions on things.
Yes!!! I do this with family and save it if they want it. If they don't it goes in a donation box!
most of the time, people don't want your junk
Oh, once something breaks, it's gone!
Wow, you're off to such a great start!
I love this perspective ❤️
It reminds me a bit of Dana K White's decluttering questions:
1 - if I was looking for this item where would I look for it FIRST, and
2 - if I needed this item would it even occur to me that I had one?
Dana's podcast and books have been super helpful for me in being realistic but not just trying to 'power through' with getting rid of hard stuff. Definitely recommend!
I know that guilt feeling so well. But i am getting over it finally it only took 70 years
I liked this video.
Fantastic video Danielle! One of your best.
I can see you writing a book one day. You have a lot to offer. I’ve been watching you a long time and have seen you grow so much ❤
Still praying for Ian and for an easy fix ❤
Its worth trying a new question to make progress and create a New perspective💛!! Continuing praying for Ian🙏
Yes that's a wonderful idea I may be implementing as well! Thank you very much 😊
😮 wonderful advice for me. Thank you!
Please know you are not alone with "vomit of our your mouth"! This is why I LOVE your channel!!!! Note: I make comments along the way! Thank you for your channel, otherwise I would think I am the ONLY one who vomits from her mouth!!!
That outfit looks great on you. You are so energetic in this video. Love the energy! Praying for Ian.
your house looks so pretty. I have been following you since your mudroom project but you can tell this house has a proud homemaker 😍
Danni I've just discovered your channel. I've been watching decluttering videos on RUclips for a few weeks in a bid to get on top of my house, and I just love your content and journey. The other channels feel a bit glossy, but yours is just so real! (I mean that entirely as a compliment 😂)
It's lovely to relate to another mum with the struggles we go through keeping on top of the house and life and the kids and life and sanity etc etc...
When you started discussing the internal struggle you had with that bloody box of Legos I was like yessss! I do the same with all my kids unwanted stuff. And no, none of my friends want any of it either!
This is one of many many things you've said that resonates! (And dont get me started on the festive decorations fetish...)
It's good to know I'm not doing this alone 😊
Keep it up my love, you've done brilliantly!
Girl I’m so proud of you your home looks great and you are asking the right questions. As you get stuff together move it out
Loved it.
Xx😊
Good idea Danni
This is genius. Like a positive affirmation the default position is its going unless theres a reason for it to stay. It makes objects earn their right to take up space in your home, mind and life.
Love this type of video,.hope you do more. 💕💕💕
Yes talk more about Decluttering prayers 🙏🏻🙌🏻
Dang. Went back and watched the intro to the previous video, so grateful to hear everyone is okay. ❤
Hm. Well that depends-if your budget is so tight that $20 could mean no dinner or a bill not paid….
Thank you so much for watching and always being here with me friend I appreciate you so much 🥰🥰🥰
Mine is under $20 in under 20 minutes.
Very good job!💕
Yes super good video idea 🎉It’s great to think all this through with you ❤❤
I’ve been watching you for a while but this is my first time commenting.
Well said ❤
Great concept! I decluttered a drawer and ended up with 3 empty boxes, so now thinking purpose or place hmmm🤔
I have been a subscriber for only a few months but can see how far you’ve come👏🏻🙂
Great mindset shift to put a positive spin on decluttering!
We have a purgatory bin for things we aren't sure we want to get rid of first.
Purgatory bin is a great name😂
OMG I LOVE the name of your bin "purgatory bin" how brilliant and how super fitting LOL! I feel like everyone needs a purgatory bin, I personally need to create more of these bins because a lot of times the unsure items get scattered in my usual clutter zone areas LOL. Thanks for watching & being here with me friend! xo
🤣🤣 right! I thought the same thing! Love it!
PS i seen your comment ill be responding soon! Always so HAPPY to see you here with me friend! 🥰
Thank you so much for these questions. ❤
We APPRECIATE you to Danni, thanks for all the helpful tips! 🤩
Thank you for sharing update about IAN even if we had to wait to the end. I NEED Iam updates. Love!!!!
I know that I need to donate them, but I'm really finding it hard as I want to get some of the money back 😏
Praying for Ian's health to improve.
I wrote you a book...I think I literally vented and mapped out my winter plans in this comment to you 😂 Appreciate you so much friend, thanks for watching & being here with me 🥰
That was a very helpful way to rethink the items that are hard to let go of but aren’t adding value to our current lives. Thanks!
Just love your videos. So glad I found you. And yes I say that all the time. Terrible. 😄 🤣 Awesome tips. Have a great weekend.
Hugs xo
Hi Danni , your home looks really nice I enjoy your taste in colours and styles. You look really good too...xxx
I've a cupboard I'm avoiding. Let me give this a try!
Thank you for all your amazing comments and for always being here with me friend, luv and appreciate ya so much 🥰😘
Great video! More like this!!
Super video Danni! You really are kicking this decluttering thing!! 😊
Hi thank you for your love and time you take in sharing what you have learned
I a definitely going to give it a go and see what happens Big hug and my prayer for you and your family and as always i will be looking forward to see you the next time X
🫂
Great advice. If we have no purpose for it, ask friends/ family member or donate it.
You’re looking good girl!😉
I hope Ian is doing better and better!😘
This was fun. I’ve decluttering a few things that I needed later but it’s still been so worth it. Love ya! 😊😊😊
Love you friend, thanks for always being here with me, I appreciate you so much. Hugs 🥰🥰🥰
Your family is still in my thoughts and prayers. Love you!
Luv & appreciate ya so much friend, thank you!!! PS I just got done writing you a book on your book collection question LOL That really was a tough one! xo
Danni it's five o'clock in the morning I just bagged them up AGAIN! This is nuts! Would love to read that book of yours lol!
Great idea!
Great video
It was greatly beneficial for some of my decor items. Thank you very much. Can I share one of my decluttering tricks? I often tell myself that if I know I'll need to declutter in the future, why not do it now.:D
Relatable. Thanks.
If my kids start a new phase, I borrow the items needed. I bet your lovely mom, Robyn, would have let you borrow muffin tins!- from the other Robyn,
danni, i am so thankful for you and your effervescent point of view! you always know just what to say to make the world better (and decluttering loads easier) “what if i keep it?” is a brilliant question and you’re right: it eliminates the pressure - amazing! oh, and thanks for the giggles when you were talking to your bra 😂 lots of love from southern california 💜
I used to be a baker. Not nomore. I got rid of them. Only kept a brownie and cake pan. I don't feel guilty
LOVE THIS!!!!
I think I asked this on the original video - but if you ever have merch, please make a t-shirt that says, “the muffin pans are tripping me up!”
Hey Danni. I forgot to ask you in my other comment, how is your hubby doing? Blessings.❤❤
Hugs 🥰😘
@@danniraearranged Thank the Lord!!! If he’s OK with you sharing, could you keep us posted?
Hi Danni! Your outfit is very cute!
How’s Ian doing? I hope he’s feeling better. Take care!❤
Great video!
I’ve been listening to Dana K White (a slob comes clean) on audio book (she has a couple) and her questions have been very helpful for me too…
The two questions are:
If I needed this item, where would I look for it? ( take it there)
If I needed this item, would it ever occur to me that I already have one?
The clip with the muffin pans was either the first or second video of yours i watched
You've been with me a long time friend, thank you! I can't tell you enough how much that means to me! So very grateful your here with me! Sending lots of luv 😘
@@danniraearranged you have giving me alot of laughs over the years 😂
Hope Ian is doing okay xx
Danni, wonderful questions to ask. This my go-to phrase from now on.
You are genius.
How is Ian doing? Hopefully much better. Hugs to you both.
Good idea! Clear and concise. Adding stress is not the point of decluttering, so that is a better way to look at it!
Purse bra must go!😂
I wasn’t trying to guilt you about the muffin tins-I just thought, you have kids! They will want them.😂
I have a bowl for the odd seemingly apported bits of things-odd little parts, screws, etc. When it starts to fill up, I go through again. If they are still mysterious, they go to a section of the tool box. When that gets straightened, and they are still unknowns, I either use them for art or they go to Habitat. Someone knows what they are!😂
lol, I picked up the little bowl and moved things out right after I said this😂
Totally agree, I feel like if there's any way possible to make the decluttering process easier, less stressful the better.
Woohoo!!
🥳🥰😘
