Aliex, I love this series of visiting Dave, and his Epic shop. You go every year, and review new boats. That's the best shop I've ever seen. That Hobie, is awesome for large reservoirs and lakes. You can add hatches, add a Bixpy or a Torqeedo. And the kick up fins. 💯 🌊 🎣
Alex, know what comparison I need to see? A kayak demolition derby. 7 kayakers, one shallow body of water, last kayak floating.
I kid, glad you are still uploading. I almost went with the 10.5 Passport when I bought the Pelican Catch 110HD II. I still wonder if I had gotten it. The rudder was the deal breaker for me. I was almost 280 at the time so no way could I turn around and manually flip the rudder if I forgot. I wanted a deployment system built-in.
Great review brother, just bought the Passport 12R in Ivory Dune. It is sick man. Texture and color is amazing.

Hobie missed the mark with this upgrade to the passport line. They didn’t mention it in the video but the rudder that the R comes with is only hand retractable, the upgraded rudder comes with a string so you can retract it from the seat. There’s also a square hatch upgrade for the passport line that they didn’t add to the R, and they didn’t upgrade the accessory tracks (super flimsy). They had a chance to make this a better fishing kayak and they missed the mark.
I have a 2 piece passport i fish out of now but I don’t think the R justifies an upgrade.
You are absolutely right, the current rudder has a pretty serious design flaw. When partially retracted in shallow water, because of the design of a sideways retract, it will steer the kayak to the side and you can't do anything about it, unless you knock it with paddle. If they had to hand deploy at least make it vertical so the steering is neutral in shallow water. I want the upgrade but it is hopelessly backordered. I made a modification to extend the rudder works great, but the shallow water issue is made worse. Hobie please make more of the XL rudders.

Passport is pretty dam nice, be great pedal drive. If I didn't have & experienced a pro angler /already been spoiled. And I was in market for a peddle drive I probably get one

audio is crazy like if you don't have a person monitoring it will never be perfect, there is always something.. I was thinking of giving david a zoom recorder as well but for in this video, he just showed up, like i was doing the video myself lol

Hello! I saw your earlier videos on Hobies and they discouraged me to invest in one. However do these new 2024 passports have thicker hulls? I really dont want a kayak made with cheap flimsy plastic.
If you buy it new, from a reputable dealer, like one you walk to and service warranty you should be fine

@@user-np5di5vq9h that's a big box store, if you have a problem with the hobie, they will send you to a dealer which won't be happy to help you because they didn't sell you the hobie, do you have a local dealer? Like specialty kayak store?
You are gonna find out how much more effective and efficient that fin drives are.
I personally hate the fins! They are not efficient or effective for me, I like the prop drive better but that's me and I am special lol

you could ask him why hobbie isn't sending this passport model to Brazil we don't deserve hobbie can't do that actually can why do i say what's the justification for hobbie she sees brazilians as inferior so she doesn't order more to brazil if we don't deserve it then leave our country.
