Thanks for another great very informative video! I love watching a master machinist at work. Also love seeing your shop. It's like a mad scientist lab! Thanks again for sharing!!
This video saved my ass, I’d had these two fork Allen heads that seemed like they were welded on, no heat or impact wrench moved them and then they stripped, classic! Then I found your video, thank you so much
Great tip, just helped a friend swap out his fork seals on his 92 softail which is probably close to 20 years since last done he said....no copper washers so someone had been in there previously....worked perfectly at a slow pace..thanks
Thanks for the video Tatro, you gave me the confidence to drill mine out 👍🏻 I used a 8mm drill bit as the bolts are M8, popped off a treat and minimal chance of damage to the seal area
My buddy has a 2017 Twin Cam and the forks have no drain screw on the forks. To accomplish the 50k fork oil service it requires you to completely remove and disassemble the forks! I am half tempted to try removing this screw to drain the fluid then use the Jim's fork pump kit for sucking the oil back into the fork. If I'm successful I'll gladly share my video with you via RUclips (Fingers crossed) 🤞
Thanks for the video! This gives me hope. You said that you were using a 1/2” drill but I’ve watched twice, and I’m still looking for the drill bit size. Could you tell me what size bit you used?
the drill needs to be bigger than the bolt size and smaller than the bolt head. a 1/2" bit might get the job done. using your brain here helps to figuare this stuff out. tatro
that is more like 15% for me. most of the time the hardware doesn't move and you have to drill it out all the way. over half the time you have to helicoil the hole when you get it out. tatro

Looks like a pretty efficient setup to me. Like you said, cleaning up takes time. It's not a hospital, its a machine shop. :D
Love the videos Tatro! You Inspire me to be more meticulous at work, even after 30yrs!. ASE master tech L1.

Thank you for this video. This seems to be a common issue for me latley. I just had to do this today. Saved my bacon sir!!
so true, fasteners come out easy when you pop the head off because you release all the clamping tension. satisfying to do.
THATS WHAT SHE SAID... Great video Tatro Thanks for all the great learnin. I love watching your videos.

I have a broken oil pump stud on a XL. Any advice on the best way to remove it without causing further problems? Thanx
This is a perfect use of left handed drill bits.... 90% of the time the bit will catch and turn the bolt out.

Thanks!
Tatro your camera you use please inform us
why? sony hdr 580 something.
tatro
It is because the "customizers" dont realize that those bolts are actually METRIC.
What size drill bit are you using ?
it should be in the video.
