The hate on the RTX 4060 Ti is real. And I get it - every tech RUclipsr clobbered it. But Brandon wanted an efficient card with DLSS for some of the games he plays. The 4060 wasn't released as of time of filming. And those screaming "6700 XT!!!" need to understand that not everyone has a preference for AMD - even when perf./$ is clearly on its side. You'll see even more of it when season 2 of Gear Up airs. Personally, in an $800 budget, I'd have gone with a used RTX 3080 or thereabouts for around $400, but it obviously wasn't possible during this in-store challenge. I hope this clears things up a bit. Thanks for watching!
The 4060ti is as good or better than the 6700XT, around the same price and if you are upgrading from an old PC, there is nothing wrong with it. Same deal with the 7600 from AMD. People need to get over it honestly. If you have a 3060, yeah sure the 4060ti is dogwater for an upgrade.

Luckily I've been able to sell all my old major components, for example i bought the RTX 3080 used on ebay a few months ago for $560 and sold my RTX 2070 Super one day after listing it for $225. However, I assume the strong presence of Amazon, High property taxes in King County, poor logistics, and political uncertainty is the reason they passed on Seattle/King County/Washington state.
Heck...the nearest Fry's in Las Vegas was a 20-30 minute drive...based on how bad the traffic on the Strip was... I wished MicroCenter would have put one there...
Most of the microcenters are cool like that, they know you had to travel out there in order to buy parts. So they rather know everything is working before you leave, less hassle. The one time I shopped there I asked if I could test the open box motherboard before i left and they gave me some desk room and a power supply.
That setup seems really power efficient! I have never been to a Microcenter yet, but the Houston location is about 4 hours away from me. I could take a trip there and spend a whole day in Microcenter lol
5:30 lots of Asus boards on that old shelf there. If I had a MC nearby, I would see if I could get a deal on an Asus Z790 board or maybe an X670e board and update the BIOS.
Amd cards are usually cheaper than Nvidia cards. If you were maximizing the budget you should've maybe went that route. But it's a choice. And with the extra money you saved you could've gotten more nvme storage
While I'd generally agree, this generation Nvidia cards are more power efficient and they are hobbled by that 600W PSU. Personally I would have kept the existing GPU for now as it's a really bad time to buy but a computer parts store can't exactly say that 😛
4060 Ti is definitely fine but in 8 years when u rebuild the PC for him again you will ask the question, why did I get him this 4060 Ti, what was I thinking. 😂
It's perfectly fine for folks starting from scratch who want an efficient, DLSS-capable card. Much different if you're upgrading from something that's already pretty solid in 2023...
Gonna be the first to admit my rig is on the floor. I hate having it on the floor, but I have a full size case and used to have it on my desk until I bought my bigger monitor and there is just no room anymore. The room I am in has very limited space, especially considering I have a 58" TV right next to my set up as well. If I can ever restructure my room, hopefully I can get it back up off the floor but sadly sometimes we have no choice. All my PCs have always been on my desk including my current one, but this is the biggest tower I have had and my monitor upgrade was pretty important to me.
That's one cool gaming machine you guys got there; That's the kind of technology store we Puertoricans need quite desperately; And those are some of the upgrades -Cooling, GPU, RAM, SSD, MOBO, etc.- that I'm planning for my current rig. (If my severely crippled budget allows it, that is.)
How many more of your family members have old PC's like this one!? Don't wait as long as you did for your brother to build them a new one 😂😂😂. Your brother will be very happy, great video!

They really need to expand I would trade all the best buys in my state for two micro centers
Heck...the nearest Fry's in Las Vegas was a 20-30 minute drive...based on how bad the traffic on the Strip was... I wished MicroCenter would have put one there...
@m8x425 I would open in Snohomish County north of Seattle for sure. Taxes and crime rates in Seattle south not good. There would be lines.
Well done! Love a good field build at Micro Center
You pick parts for your brother like he is adopted.
I'm surprised Microcenter allow people to build at their store. Cool of them!
Most of the microcenters are cool like that, they know you had to travel out there in order to buy parts. So they rather know everything is working before you leave, less hassle. The one time I shopped there I asked if I could test the open box motherboard before i left and they gave me some desk room and a power supply.
Mine is 10;minutes away from home 🙂
he is a pretty famous yt'er so it makes sense why Microcenter would let him lmao
That setup seems really power efficient! I have never been to a Microcenter yet, but the Houston location is about 4 hours away from me. I could take a trip there and spend a whole day in Microcenter lol
Is the the man, The Myth, THE LEGEND!!! Josh :D, formally known as Fractal Josh!
Personally I would have kept the existing GPU for now as it's a really bad time to buy but a computer parts store can't exactly say that 😛
FRACTAL JOSH IT'S BEEN A MINUTE< GOOD TO SEE YOU SINCE JAY, AUSTIN, BITWIT THOSE LAST 2 BUILDING A A PC IN BACK OF A SPEEDBOAT!
I met him there! i was super happy to see him
Power supply prices have gone up greatly in the last two years!😲😲
Got to take care of your brother!! ❤
I love that I live 10 minutes away from that Micro Center.
I really need to go to the one and only micro center in my state, that looks so cool and fun, PC doods dream
@@GregSalazarshould have gone for a 6800xt or a 6700xt instead of a 4060ti tbh
He didn't want those. So no.
love my Air 100 case for my work pc, 10400 & 3060 combo. Mostly for CAD drafting and day trading
Great video. Awesome upgrades. Be sure to let us know how the new system works.
How many more of your family members have old PC's like this one!? Don't wait as long as you did for your brother to build them a new one 😂😂😂. Your brother will be very happy, great video!
My Microcenter has those RFID boxes so you can hold on to them in your cart until you check out. I like it.
He could have used some of that remaining budget for a matching rear exhaust fan, seems incomplete without one, and help hide the chrome from I/O.
I disagree. Prefer the cleaner look of no rear exhaust. Airflow will be fine 👍
205 and 205m are great, i bought the white model 205 c mesh,im gonna build it tomorrow the cpu arrives, after 5 years of suffering
