I probably bored everyone out already, but I have to say that thought of being suprised or disssapointed never crossed my mind for the last couple years' votings, cuz there are always people who seem constantly upset as there's never any objectivity in selecting the tracks and artist's popularity being a huge factor in voters' choice. You can also add the fact that unfeatured EP/LP tracks never make it into the compilations, for instance, Luxor Aeterna, which I personally enjoyed and voted. Obviously it's devastating, but that doesn't stop you from enjoying this year's tracks on your own. However, I have many questions regarding other aspects of this compilation - more precisely, the visual representation, even more precisely - the artwork. Hear me out, and what I'm going to say is only my subjective & honest opinion - WHAT THE HELL WENT WRONG? The Monstercat's glass head seems alright, but the text is just...outrageous. The chromatic aberration makes everything seem confusing, firstly completely dismantling the color palette, secondly being trippy from the distance & for people with sight problems. The mcat visuals team have really let me down with their quality plank this year, or someone else responsible for the artwork, I don't have the exact information. I realise that for many of you this is insignificant and not a big deal as I don't see many even returning to this compilation so often, but for me it seems inevitable to establish & craft a good experience using imagery, visuals & graphic style. Being a hobbyist unprofessional graphic & visual designer, who was inspired by Monstercat's great examples of artworks, that being their overall branding with older compilations, and also being insanely well-made single / LP artworks made by audr_im, finaldotpsd, kem.inc, Amanda Cha, kezrek & many other specialists, Best of 2024 artwork seems to be an ultimate insult. And believe me, I don't wanna sound too critical & judgemental here as I'm not allowed to know all the causes & trivias that led to this, but it just hurts to see, considering this year was HUGE for amazing artworks which are currently on my S-tier. Through this year during my past time in Monstercat's discord community, I constantly supported current changes that EDM scene & Monstercat faced in terms of music, debuting artists, ongoing trends & even release quality, but this last thing is something I still can't get under my skin. I apologize on my behalf, but I felt like this was the right time to speak up. In no means I want to demoralize monstercat management & staff, I just hope that these things won't happen again as I actively support high quality visual representation of what the label has to offer.
The Magic on #1 in Silk is like my dream come true lol. Such an amazing song. (For the record, I know it's only #31, but it's #1 in Silk for those who don't know)
unpopular opinion: this is prob the wost comp since they started the BO comps there were so many misses this year and it had almost no real identity it was just kind of a random year with inconsistent dubstep and house the fact that no manas or ellis even grant a little (even if he only made two songs) was a big miss ngl..
Actually pretty good and safe comp. Would've loved of there would have been a few more ?????? picks this year. Was hoping to see Bishu, INFEKT, and maybe some more Mr. Bill??
I really wish Wake Up by Jason Ross & Fairlane made it into the comp because it's just GODLY. I guess Alan Walker's fine but come on man But I digress, the entire comp is just a really great one. So many bangers like Digital Friends, Out of Frame (I regret not listening to this early), and BWYY made it in which makes it really enjoyable. W comp Best: Digital Friends, Out of Frame, SEE YOU DROP, 4D, Nothin On You Least: Take It Back, Wake Up, Rain Dance
BIG TEXT INCOMING - Be aware this is just my opinion, feel free to disagree, just don't be hateful or toxic: What a year, huh? And what a comp!!! But...I felt a little underwhelmed with the votes. Like, we had 3 SKYBREAK SONGS in the Top 10 alone, that's crazy, #SkybreakSweep. The thing is, where is the representation for "less famous" artists? Like in the higher votes I only saw big names, such as Skybreak, Virtual Riot, RAY VOLPE, Bossfight, TOKYO MACHINE, Bad Computer, Grant, CHYL, etc. Where are the other Sullivan King songs? The Beginning is in there but...where's the Shaq collab and Lean Onto Me? Where's Vikkstar? Where is Ghost In The Shadows (ROY KNOX)? Where's ARMNHMR? Where's Psytrance Mafia? Where are the other hayve tunes besides Hideaway? Where's Ace Aura? Where's Caster? Where's Teddy Killerz? Where's WHIPPED CREAM?! Damn, a lot of them are missing. Anyways, this was a great year, so let's raise our glass to 2025!!! Oh, and I forgot...WHERE THE @%#€ ARE THIRST?! Best tunes in the comp: Believe What You Want, SEE YOU DROP DROP DROP DROP DROP DROP DROP-, Chromatically, Give in to you Worst tune in the comp: Take It Back (it's a 4/10 sorry 😣) Underserved: Generation Gap, PLAY VIP, Take It Back, Digital Friends (don't kill me but it's MID)
I feel like a lot of the popular artists are popular because they produce good music, but at the same time there were some tunes (like Johera by Teddy Killerz and So High by Codeko) that missed the vote. With THIRST and some others, I feel like they released so much music that it was hard to get a single song with enough votes. How I would fix these issues: The community first votes for artists, and then votes for one song from each of the artists.
Literally the worst compilation so far, there are some songs that didn't deserve to be here , for example, believe what you want by Virtual Riot, I mean its good but still your typical virtual Riot. I would replace it with Stealing Fire as I see it better and creative more than Believe what you want to be honest :)
W comp or nah?
W
No sadly - pretty in between actually
@@theoriginalspikecatbruh what
W
W yes. Skybreak on top
Seeing Nigel Good really made me happy, but I missed WRLD in this compilation.

Bishu - Do or Die has grown on me a ton, and INFEKT deserved some representation. Kinda sucks but it iz what it iz

DROP DROP DROP DROP... I WANNA SE YOU DR- *dubstep noices*.
the low ranking uncaged tracks had me scratching my head a little. other than that, pretty damn solid.
What version of lifeforce are you listening to that it’s a “chill” track?
