      Well, there's "self-driving, we have it now, and will roll it out next year" for the past decade or so. Or how about "For $3bn of your tax money, I'll put American boots on the moon again", and $3bn later he managed to launch an empty cylinder into orbit, and one with a payload of _one whole banana_ halfway across the globe (sadly, without hitting orbit)? Those StarLink receivers he gracefully donated to Ukraine when that war broke out? Where it turned out he donated half, and had the American government donate the other half after charging them double price for them, meaning he didn't lose a cent in revenue on that whole "donation"? Or how about "I'll make space flight so cheap you can literally use rockets instead of airplanes"? And when you look at what he charges, well, it was the opposite of "cheaper" and he raised the price when the Russian competition became persona non grata. This after inventing the reusable rocket, which Nasa had already invented decades ago and written off as "not worth the effort" as it costs more to refurbish it than to just build a new one from scratch. Then again, the man does have a tendency to invent things that already exist... And who could forget those solar rooftiles he demonstrated, which turned out to be regular roof tiles? The Semi that would revolutionise road transportation, which has an abysmal range and can carry a fraction of what regular trucks can handle on account of the weight of the batteries? The Roadster 2 that if it actually had the range he promised would be twice as tall due to the _fucking laws of physics_ and the energy/volume ratio of Li-Ion cells? The Hyperloop? I could go on, but this comment is long enough already.

    One of my direct coworkers left Treyarch so he can get a job at SpaceX because he was a huge Elon fanboy. He got a job as a coordinator. He quickly stopped being an Elon fanboy once he started working there. He explained to me that most the people there are young men, straight out of college, who are willing to work 80 hour weeks because they want to impress Elon. • @EvenTheDogAgrees
      @EvenTheDogAgrees 20 часов назад +4

      Similar. I'm OK at some, I stink at others. I don't require, nor wish for assistance in the form of mods or turning down the difficulty, but there are some genres I simply can not get past the intro levels. Assuming I even get that far. Precision platformers, "bullet hell" type shooters, that kind of stuff. Instead I just gravitate towards more forgiving genres. Point n' click adventures, puzzle games, RPGs, story-driven platformers with a more forgiving gameplay (think Limbo, Mark of the Ninja, Dust: An Elysian Tail, ...)
      Braid? Yeah, tried it, too hard. Celeste? Same. I would love to be good at those games, but I'm not, and I'm OK with that.

    I have no reason to doubt my close associate of more than four decades.

    I think it's a little more than what you said. I think before he bought twitter, he probably was genuine about his thoughts on free speech. However, something I've noticed, at least with myself, is that the more you interact with short-form content(short videos, tweets, etc), the more temperamental and unhinged you become.
    For example, earlier today I downloaded Instagram to enjoy some reels. And the more I watched, the more I engaged, the more I started noticing myself becoming rapidily more unstable and angry. This is something I've noticed that happens to me with any short form content that isn't just random clips from a TV show, dumb jokes or half naked women doing viral memes/dances/challenges.
    Now, admittedly, my my particular brand of autism came with some interesting temper problems. Which leads us to two possible conclusions. Either I'm only experiencing that because of my temper problems, or my temper problems make me a canary in the coal mine.
    I do not think the former is the case. My primary evidence for this is the TikTok NPC trend. No healthy human mind concocted that idea. And it started surfacing long after TikTok became entrenched.
    I guess what I'm trying to say is, few people will ever be able to maintain their sanity while taking short form content in anything other than small doses. And Musk has been taking way more than a small dose.

    elon is basically doing what he have always done, he doesn't know anything about the companies he own, because he's an investor, he knows how to work with his money, he buys a company, invests into it, and basically takes the credit, for example when he bought that space company and changed the name to "space x" he started talking as if he knew about the area and writing simple math stuff that you learn at the beginning of uni (no exaggeration btw) and saying how he was "revolutionizing space travel" even tho he does nothing, he just puts his money in, he did the same for twitter, bought it, changed the name, had no idea how to run the website and still fumbles around not knowing what to do, and if he tries to get into the video game industry, the same will happen, and with AI of all things, we can already see the low quality in the horizon, btw sorry about my bad english, when my texts become too long i get lost

    What benefits was he expecting trying to fake being a pro gamer? He's already so rich and successful, what was even the point of trying to pull this charade?
    This feels like more a case of childish beefing than some financial scheme.

    Had Elon just be honest about not having enough time to play video games, nobody would have judged him for it. I would a thousand times respect a level 3 player that actually plays the game over a level 99 player that pays someone to do it for him.

    Elon did not lie about it though. its just you guys fail to do your research and understand him. He is literally a genius, and like most people with exceptionally high IQ's he does not do things like most everybody else does. they are quirky, they do things differently than the rest of us. The way he plays the game may not be align with how everybody else plays the game, but that is just the way he does it. it works for him, it works for his brain. The thing is that Elon has streamed HUNDREDS OF HOURS of him playing the game. the proof is right under all of your noses, its openly available on the internet for anybody to see, but for some reason you guys are just too lazy to spend the time to go out and get the truth about something before making your videos... instead, you just piggyback off of each other and just keep spreading false information and it gets compounded with each person and still nobody takes the time to find the truth about it.

    Wow I didn't dig deep into that. Because as a gamer we take pride in what we play, be it getting 100% achievements, getting that best strategy or getting to that particular level.
    So if this is true, he isn't a gamer and will have no respect and trust.

    He not only proved them right by going to Ad Hominem instead of accepting the simple task of showing his skill on camera and making Asmon work for him, but he also displayed not knowing what a "video Editor" is, confusing it with an Editorial Board Editor. And apparently the screenshots were old, so he had time to realize or research what his Editors were, but he jumped to his head canon that the "mysterious editors" were Asmon's shadow masters and a trade secret of him! 🤣
    Must be frustrating he can't win the title of Top Gamer through a lawsuit, even Billy Mitchell would have a better case than him!

    I actually think this is more than setting up a gaming company. He could sneeze the money out for that and money isn't his drive anymore. It's power he wants, convince gamers that he is amazing at games and they may vote for whoever he votes for or stands with in 4 years.

    a game studio ran entirely by ai is such a shun on all the artists (dei excluded of course) and engineers who spent DECADES studying to get to where they are. Be it indie, AAA or just a person who loves doing art for games after a long day of work while doing a 9 to 5 elsewhere. While I know gaming had to grow, I seriously miss the days where it was just a group of pals funding their own future on a hope they could make a badass game. Investors is one thing but the power injection this lovely artform has gotten has served more harm than good.

    Wierd times. I am indian and if a billionare say he plays video game and make video of him playing a game, people would laugh at him and doubt his maturity. Elon musk enjoys the freedom of people loving him as both businessman and a gamer and now his childish behaviour is going to ruin his reputation.

  • @lizaraVR
    @lizaraVR 14 часов назад +1

    it's simple: elon musk is a grifter and very insecure. he wants to be adored probably because - judging by his comments about his father - has not gotten much appreciation and love as a child and young adult. he tried to weasel himself into the gaming sphere, because of his plans for a game studio.
    I mean he changed how twitter blocking works because his ex wife blocked him and he still wanted to see her posts.

    The thing is, if he'd just said he likes games but doesn't have time to play them as much as he'd like and then streamed himself playing, that would have generated far more goodwill towards his AI game studio than his attempts to parade as the world's greatest gamer.
