Paul, I'm 71 one years old and I've always wondered what I wanted to be when I grow up.... and I decided...... I want to be YOU!! Well, okay maybe not because you do such a wonderful job of being you and I would totally mess it up.... But, I do want to learn how to paint in this loose flowy way. I love it!! My problem is I try to control the paint too much and it ends up controlling me... I'm so glad to be on this journey though... it has been a lot of fun. I hope you have a wonderful week.. see you next time! Sending lots of love from Alabama!

So initially I thought that Cadbury Dairy Milk was also going to be used for a new technique! ;-) But let me tell you, your's is the only channel that gives us elaborate and clear instructions about various water colour techniques! I often mixed pastels, pencils and watercolours and felt weird for doing so. Now I see your video and I see there's even a book about it... I feel much happier!
I use sometimes oil pastels when I want to add a reflection or a spot of light I want to be sure it won't mix with the rest, but yeah, they're sticky.
Personally I love my collection of handmade pastels. I bought them in Northern Ireland, and they're the softest brightest thing I've seen in my life. They're big rounded chunks you can buy in boxes or separately. I totally recommend them. :-)

I was asked to do a demonstration on how to use those inscribe pastels as there was a promotion on them and they thought it might help sales. I used them like pans of watercolour by just adding water on the brush and picking up the colour. I demonstrated shading by adding colour to areas directly on to the paper then going over it with the brush dragging the wet colour over it blending the colours. The people didn't know you could do that and 3/4 of stock sold that day. Going outside the box I think they call it

Oh Paul (OMG I've just reminded myself of the deranged nurse in the film 'Misery' who always greeted her bedridden victim with a lovestruck 'Oh Paul'). Moving swiftly along. Hi Paul. This is an amazing tutorial and I can't wait to dig out my 20 year old box of pastels and there may be a lot of digging involved, but when used in moderation as you have done here, it really adds a wonderful little pop of 'light' to the painting and it is such a simple thing to do but so effective. I am so glad you showed us how to do this. So many thanks again as always for all your generosity and good humour, signed, Annie Wilkes 😱
