Mr. Clark, I do not have enough words to express my gratitude for sharing your work with us. You give what you know and the knowledge that you have accumulated with so many years of work, you do not have any selfishness and allow us to learn from you. I wish many of the so-called greats learned a bit from you. Thanks again for your time and for your talent.
Wow, thank you JG - that's one of the nicest compliments I've ever had and I'm very grateful. I get enormous pleasure from doing these videos and sharing what I've learned, mainly because I've enjoyed the learning the process from others over the years. Keep in touch as there is lots more to come!!!!
@ J G you expressed my feelings much better than I could.
Have more to add but a wonderful soul Mr. Clark is.
My favorite place to be- beach & the waves are most special.
Maybe you paint a happy beach someday less somber & grim?
I am so glad I have found you on youtupe, amazing to see you watercolouring, thanks a lot, greetings from Gent, Belgium, linda
Mr Clark l have come across your videos on RUclips n l spend hours watching them over n over again! It's absolutely mesmerizing for me as l am a retired old school teacher who finds a lot of joy n solace in painting n am new to the techniques of watercolor. When the Pandemic has created a shadow of death over our heads here l find your videos a great place to learn something new. You are a wonderful teacher who is ready to pass on the great techniques you have accumulated in your treasury through your hard work. In lndia we call it Guru(teacher) sishya(pupil) parampara (tradition of transmission). You hold nothing back....all the knowledge is for those who want to learn. So Guru l wanted to say agrateful thank you. I know l have a long long way to go but l will try very hard sir. My pranam(salutation). Indrani Niyogi.
To Indrani... your comment inspired me, at 68 to learn to Watercolor is going to be an adventure. I too admire Mr. Clark... so kind and willing to share. Take care ... Pam from California 🌺🌴❤
Fond memories of the Sussex coast, after leaving school at Patcham I used to cycle the coastal path from Saltdean to Brighton to work, waves used to crash over the top of me, or the seagulls would attack lol. Great video lesson, thank you 👍🏻
Thanks Robert, lovely comment. Know Patcham well - I live just along the coast at Bexhill!
Greetings from Canada, Mr. Clark. I'm a complete novice in water colours and your videos are an immense help to me. Who would have thought of using a knife to scrape in wave effects? So thank you so much for your generous gift of your talent and tips.
That's great to hear Lynn - and good luck in your watercolour journey!
This is by far the best art RUclips channel about watercolor, thank you very much 🌹

This is the best seascape watercolor tutorial I have ever seen. This painting is a very energetic, sparkling and and full of life.I am eager to paint this . Thank you very much sir!
Wow, thank you Meena!!!
Beautiful! Love the waves you can feel the spray. Do you start with fresh color from the tube with each painting ?
Not always only when I run out!
Love that, thank you. My son also lives on the south coast and I just love those sea views.
Q - how do you know when you’re done? I have a habit of fiddling and not knowing when enough is enough.
Hi Dilys - that's a great question and it's one I ask myself every time I paint! - Many a time I've ruined a painting by overworking it - but I've taught myself to stop when there is enough info to suggest what the subject is (if that makes sense!!) It's always good to be a little vague so the viewer has to interpret things for themselves. It's probably the hardest thing of all and I know many artists struggle with it. I guess a lot of it comes down to experience and not trying to be too literal when coping a reference photos.
So beautiful! I learned a lot about painting realistic waves. Can't wait to try this one. Thanks, Paul !
Brilliant as always, Paul! Thanks so much 😊🙏
Glad you enjoyed it!
Paul, I like the fact that you give us percentages of each color to make a mixture. But how do we measure out the percentage a out?
Thanks Josephine - the percentages are really only a guide - it's really about experimenting and just mixing your own version to be close - if that makes sense!.
Thank you for sharing with us! So much to learn! You make it look so easy! (Your background music is really irritating 🙃)
Thanks Virginia - I think I had the music set a little too loud on this one!
The music was too loud and the voiceover too low. But still a great demo.
😂😂😂 LOVED your intro!!! Kudos for going all in!! And thanks for all the great seascape tips!
Glad you liked it Lisa!! - still got water in my ear!!!
Fantastic. I want to try to paint this. I love your style. Thanks.
Pleasure Sara - give it a go and let me know how you get on!
I don't know whether to think of you more as an artist or more as a magician..... MAGNIFICENT AND BREATHTAKING. I wish I lived in England so I could take a course with you.
