  • I changed the oem battery for a much smaller and more powerful Antigravity battery. With this battery I saved over 20lbs of weight and I also have more room in the engine bay for future upgrades and modifications.
    ** quick note the Ctek battery monitor is only real time monitoring when you are connected to it via bluetooth. You have to be in range of the monitor to be able to connect with it.

    Definitely keep it on a CTEK charger!

      @@phothrottleHow are the coil overs doing, I’m on the fence trying to decide. I did watch your video on them

      Towards the end of the summer I was able to dial them in even more. They feel fantastic on the on the freeways. For the price point they are really good. They are the only coilovers on the market that allows you to keep the factory dampening. Any other brands on the market are big money and not that much better for the price you pay. It all depends on your budget and what you intend for your CTR.

    The ATX30 is not a good fit for the FL5, unfortunately. Mine overheated numerous times. Had to get it warrantied and I just put the stock one back in

      Thanks for the heads-up Joel! Do you think the over heating issue is caused by the batteries amp hours size? Did Antigravity pin point the cause?

      @accoRding2Joel 10 месяцев назад

      @phothrottle I believe that's what they said. They don't recommend the ATX-30RS for it. I upgraded to the HD model but I didn't install since a friend of mine had the same issue with that also.

      @@accoRding2Joel would you recommend going with the oem size antigravity or possibly a group 51 size? By the way I love your vlogs keep it up brother!

      @accoRding2Joel 10 месяцев назад +1

      @phothrottle I would say the 51 should be plenty. Thing to note is that the battery was never a problem in nice weather, only when it was 90° or hotter did it fail.

    Isn’t there something about lithium ion and alternators? Be careful with that.

    • @phothrottle
      @phothrottle  10 месяцев назад

      Kevin I believe what you are referring to is when lithium battery gets discharged to a very low point they are hard to bring back. You need a 12volt source to tricking the battery to wake up and take the charge.

      @@phothrottle Lithium is unlike lead acid, they're happy to take current as much as possible. when lithium state of charge is high enough, it will be safe for your alternator but thing got ugly when it's discharged. it could burn your alternator if you charge them on idle!. yes the BMS would cut the charge current when it's exceeded the preset limit but if the limit not met, it could burn your alternator quick. even if it does cut charge current, you're risking damaging your modules since alternator is not a smooth DC. ripples and spikes might be too much for your module voltage regulator to handle.
      a proper way to use lithium is either having DC-DC charge controller or when your car is compatible with it (cars with battery sensor module might be compatible with lithium if they have program for it). the scenario i explain is the worst case where it could happen in daily use but if you're sure you wont disharge the battery too much, i'd say it's safe-ish
