thank you for the tip for the invisible zip - had a today years old moment Thank you for the tutorial in general! trying to get into ouji and finding sweeter stuff is a nightmare, but finding cute fabric to make my own is not.
I made some of these wonderful pants for a Jester cosplay (Marx from Kirby) and they were truly wonderful. I just wanted to let you know it was a very useful tutorial that Ill reference for a long time to come! Keep it up
These look darling, and very comfortable. I might try to use up some remnants and make a pair in time myself to wear with period dresses, or as stand-alone bottoms! Your tutorial was very clear, and I expect it'll be easy to follow. I can't wait to see what else you make :) - Alex
im trying to make some costumes for a kids play im working in. this is very helpful. im very beginner in sewing but i will try my best. you look great and are very talented by the way.
THANK YOU.... I keep looking for comfortable and cute shorts and I wanted to just try wearing these lolita-style bloomers as shorts instead (scandalous, lol) so I ordered some online. But I’m afraid they won’t fit and now HOLY SHIT I CAN MAKE MY OWN!!!!!! Life saver
thank you so much for this! I'm just beginning sewing garments, and I' ad a pattern for pumpkin shorts cut out an ready but I had no idea how to sew it together... great video :)
THIS IS SUCH A RAD TUTORIAL!! ^^ I havent tried this out yet but Ive been wanting to get into sewing and after I get the hang of it I wanna try this (I have a bunch of easier projects I wanna do first so I wont be doing this right out the gate). Is this somewhat beginner friendly though?? I know this is an old video so I dont mind if its takes a while to get a reply :] have a swag day!!
Thank you so much! I'd day it's decently beginner-friendly. The gathering can be a little finicky and zipper can be tricky if you've never done one before, so just go slow and you should be good :)
Hey! Sorry this is a super late comment, do you sew the straight part of the back and front seam shut too? I can't see it being closed anywhere on the video and am kinda confused haha
Sorry for the late response, i didnt have internet for a few weeks. Do you mean the straight section above the curves in the front and back? The front get sewn all the way up and the back gets sewn with a basting stitch so the zipper can be put in there
IIRC since the pattern piece is one half of the shorts, it should be about 46" across the pattern piece to make it 92" in total. Sorry to word it weirdly haha
i have a pair of pants that just want to cut and make the bottom parts of them puffy like bloomer. would i just sew some elastic into the bottoms? and make it a little tighter than my thigh measurement? i can only hand sew sjdjddnsn
Instead of doing a zipper and a hook closure, is it possible for me to replace that with elastic bands?? Including in the leg cuffs? My pants are going to be for a cosplay that I have to stuff and make poofy. I'm scared for everything snapping out of place or going wrong some how. 😅 Also, what kind of thread did you use for your needle and bobbin?
You could totally use elastic instead of having it fitted! Keep in mind to leave a little bit of wiggle room to be able to get it on and off. This will make it gather a little bit instead of laving flat. The thread i use is just all-purpose polyester thread. The brand i normally get is Gutermann. Good luck with your cosplay!
i cant figure out what it's supposed to look like after you sew both pieces together? it just turns into a big fabric tube and i'm not sure what went wrong
@@Zaolan123 yeah around 3:45... if i sew up those parts it doesn't really make legs unless i fold it in half first, but if i do that it's not exactly right either? sorry to bother you with this lol i'm so bad with instructions tbh
Oh no worries! I think I may have actually dropped a step while editing this. The curved edges that get sewn together become the front and back center seams. the straight edges left open need to be sewn together next. Fold the shorts so that the center seams are on top of each other, then go straight across those open straight edges. This will make the legs holes. Sorry that was unclear! Hope this helps!
@@Zaolan123 I’ve been cramming different tutorials to make sure I understand (I’m making a pair out of fleece, for the Winter); I’m a slow learner when it comes to some things, and sewing is one of them... 😂
Dude thank you so much. I need these for a cosplay and you are a literal life saver
I'm so glad you like it!!
Same! I want to cosplay haru okumura from persona 5 and now i have pants!
Cute! I can’t sew worth buttons, but I feel like I could follow this tutorial.
Thanks! Feel free to leave any questions if you have them. I try to check my comments pretty regularly.

U USED LINED PAPER FOR THE PATTERN
Wild
Maybe newspaper in the future? certainly requires less tape lol
It's what I had on hand haha. I generally just use whatever

Hi what's d correct name for this shorts, I know it as the bakers shorts ,could this be made shorter?
thank you sm!!!
Just looking for clarification on the waist circumference x2, if my waist was 46 does that mean it should be 92 across the top for the pattern piece?
IIRC since the pattern piece is one half of the shorts, it should be about 46" across the pattern piece to make it 92" in total. Sorry to word it weirdly haha

That would probably work, as long as the leg part is loose enough. You could put elastic at the bottom, or gather it and put a cuff on the end.
I will follow this
Instead of doing a zipper and a hook closure, is it possible for me to replace that with elastic bands?? Including in the leg cuffs? My pants are going to be for a cosplay that I have to stuff and make poofy. I'm scared for everything snapping out of place or going wrong some how. 😅

At which step? Do you mean when you put the two legs together?

@@Zaolan123 ....which open ends? if i sew the top and bottom shut then the entire thing is closed up. do i sew the curves together again?
The gathering part went over my head, unfortunately... T-T;;
