Fun on the Kingies! Cant wait for this rain to go away so I can get out on the Harbour and chase some Kings on Top water, the thick drags sounds get the blood pumping
Mate it always happens! Find the fish and then something crazy weatherwise happens and changes the entire landscape and we all end up back on square one lol. I'm gonna give it a red hot go this year on top as well, my backside still hurts from last time when I lost a handful of bream surface lures in that crazy king school video lol. I hope you smash em!

Shroom got one more question how can I catch love yakka in the harbour. I heard you can use a small piece of pilchard with no sinker and cast it out. Is this the right way

Awesome video mate. Fishing botany bay tomorrow trying to catch my first kingfish. When your that close to Molineaux Point do you use a sand anchor or rock anchor?
Usually not anchored but spot locked but most people use sand anchor there
@@ShroomFishing thanks mate, went out today. Conditions were absolutely terrible ended up just staying along the runway wall near boat ramp as it was slightly protected.. I guess my first king will have to wait until next season.

Thank you! Sometimes the rig is best in the most basic simplest form especially when you believe in the quality of your live bait. It does most of the heavy lifting and kings will ignore thick leaders and all kinds of things so having less components simplifies the equation. You will hook up soon!
stewie is a legend, i still remember driving over the airport bridge and seeing him land a decent jewie, he might remember hearing someone scream, i always used to see him in my orange tinnie.
He sure is... to put up to me, that's commendable! 😂 We've been trying, it just hasn't happened for some weird reason but surely one day it'll happen again!

You're right Benny. I might look into a catch and cook this Summer season. I don't know how to cook and what it would be but at least if would be comical. I've cooked some calamari before and it tastes out of this world! So different to the squid at the shops

Surprised you did not use a stinger hook? I am planning a trip out there in the Yak - just thinking how tired I'll be on the paddle home.
I usually forgo the 2 hook rig or stinger when just dropping it down especially since these squid were the perfect bait size and not large. Downrigging, a different story and especially if the squid is big one. Arms will be doubly tired Mal!

Hey shroom I use float for kings would a two hook snelled rig affect the swimming action of the yakka therefore the kings would not hit it?
Yes it does but the trade off may be worth it with a better hookup rate

Live squid is usually a step up over freshly dead. Sometimes the freshly dead will outperform a live squid but I've found more often than not it's the other way around but it does depend on the day
