Love to hear about the background of some of those units and how you kitbashed them. It breathes so much life into something as simple as a plastic kit.
What an awesome video. I don’t even play, I just recently got back into painting, since childhood. All these models are new to me and I loved experiencing your joy and enthusiam in the hobby.
That's so nice to read. I wanted to bring a bit of Hobby positivity between all these negative videos I get recommended daily. There is so much to enjoy in our hobby, have fun painting.
You are correct about the Empire Captain as your Greatsword Champion! Got the same model and its a great model to have! Also, you mention you don't like the gold armour of the Inner Circle Knights, but I really really like that part myself! They standout and they look great that way (and look like Blazing Suns knights too so that's good!). Love the black and yellow colour of the army overall, really striking!
A really enjoyable video, with a great looking Empire army. The big take away for me though was your thoughts about your army. And that it was crafted with such care n a joy at making a stunning looking army.... especially your hand painted banners! Keep up the good work.
Very cozy explanation of your army and was a delight to listen too while I cook. It's been great seeing your Averland come together. Have you considered any other Old World armies to try and dabble in?
I feel you. I recently moved to a quite rural area where I knew no one. It took me about 4 months to finally get in touch with the first person and have a game. It was a blast though. So I can only recommend you to either visit some Warhammer Groups on Facebook or on Reddit and post that you are looking for players in your area from time to time. I had to post over the course of a few weeks until finally the right person was online at the right time and read it. Also getting in touch with local stores might help aswell. Good look and don't give up the search.
What a beautiful army and nicely done showcase! I'm fighting for Averland too 🖤💛 I'm wondering what your recipe for the yellow on the state troops is? :) Oh and I quite prefer crossbowmen over handgunners. I feel like their 30" range and armour bane 2 is good but I'm only six games in and mainly focus on Demigryphs rn but maybe give those shooty guys a try one day :)
Another brother in arms for Averland, great! Unfortunately all those paints that I used are lost to time. Even if I could remember those names, their newer citadel parts are not even close to it. In my refurbishment video I bought the Averland Sunset(? I think), and that is much more vibrant than what I had before. So I had to mix some more yellow-green in to get closer to mustard. So I am afraid I cannot give you a recipe anymore. I do indeed prefer crossbows over handguns aswell. You never want to walk with them at all costs (ponderous) so 30 inch is the only way. But in any match I used them I just felt like I didn't need them. If someone plays harpies and threatens my cannons, I use the cannister shot. Or a hero on Pegasus to shoo them away. And I never shoot at infantry as my cav just wipes them away thanks to 1st charge. But I noticed that alot of units feel like "they have no value" but that is all down to survivors bias. They may have no value in my army composition but could be quite useful in a whole other setup. So I'm trying to keep away from saying "they are useless".
Literally my dream army, I’m painting up averland at the moment. Your paint jobs are gorgeous dude, keep the brass/gold colour on the knights they look amazing!!! Fantastic video quality too dude 😊 what colours did you use to high light the yellow and black?
Great and thanks. Have fun painting those black/yellow dudes. I might keep the Inner Circle knights like this afterall. I fear the yellow is no longer in production (I think). It was a very light yellow and it was one of the first "drybrush" paints they released back then in the citadel range. Maybe you can find something similiar to it. And unfortunately I cannot remember what the grey was, too long ago. ;)
Glad to hear that. This is the video style that I will focus on in the future. There will be some tutorials when it's fitting but overall I enjoy the narrated, story time videos.
Try to use tiny units of 5-6 crossbow men or hand gunners as detachment of your infantry. Hold and fire reaction wounds now count to the combat result and in addition, you can deny some rank if you have luck.
Thanks for your input! Unfortunately I tried those. I still struggle to get them having a good line of sight when using them. Always seems to scramble up my formation. Also I am mostly charging my enemy, even with infantery. Due to the fact that my cannons make them move towards me sorta headless. And as far as I know, you cannot give support fire anymore when you charge. Which is sad. I sometimes pick 5 as a detachment when I really have nothing else to fill those 35 core points.
@@arthyficial The one on the left should be on the right and vice versa. The griffons should be striking 'forwards' and the comets tails should be behind them as the wheel rotates to move the tank forward. But this way round they are facing 'backwards'.

That's what it's all about and the magic of war games.
That's one nice army to have.
Thank you. All of them look gorgeous when fully painted. Nothing beats having a match with 2 fully painted armies.
Beautiful army!!
Green and white is stir river patrol (A unit of striland) hochland is green and red
Now that you said it I remembered. I think I saw them in the 7th edition Army book.
Great looking army mate! Really enjoyed the showcase. Salute from Australia!
Thank you. Glad you liked it. Greetings back, half around the globe, from Germany. 😁
I love seeing these armies come back to the table, and the personal background stuff!
Thank you. Glad you liked it. I thought it makes it much more personal and relateable.

Beautiful army! Cool video, I thought it may be a little long, but it was very entertaining.

Cool army and I really enjoyed your explanations!
Thank you and happy you liked it. Was hoping it might help another casual empire player out.
@@arthyficial hopefully! But not me- Lizardmen, goblins and Tomb Kings here. :)

I love your army! Great explanation on everything too! Subbed!
Thank you, glad you liked it.
When you said Hochland, i immediately knew you were german. :D
Great Army btw.
I like Averland for the lore. It's like the Texas of the Empire and they are fast friends with the Dwarves
And black and yellow fit so well for the statetroops. 😍

Thanks. And yes I have. I will follow a whole upcoming army project with a video series.

The Bodyguard for my Mydas the Mean are a unit of Averland Halderdiers
That sounds cool. A mixed empire army sure will also look great. With units from different provinces.
