If Remote Control was the warning siren, I'd say the debut of The Real World was the point of no return. We still had Post Modern, Unplugged, and the international expansions happening for the next few years. And you did have that MTV channel embedded within the game, and the bonus round did involve videos.

I don't know what Lorne Michaels was thinking when he put Quinn on Weekend Update, especially replacing the GOAT Norm Macdonald.
