"A delayed game is eventually good, while a rushed game is forever bad" I believe this applies to shows and anime as well, but I wouldn't worry about Overlord when it comes to this as they've frequently taken their time and given us the best possible product. Though, I can hardly contain my excitement for when it eventually does come out!
@@kek651 Also, it's a wonderful self-contained story. At this point the light novels are still not quite finished yet. As good as the anime though, the novels these are based on are peak fantasy novels. The anime doesn't really have time to dig into the worldbuilding or the nuances of the story. The anime is pretty much a just the highlights version of the story.
The holy kindgom arc was so well done and self contained it would feel like an out of place speed bump in any season the LN was great but getting the amount of world building into a season that holy kingdom into a season especially after where SE2 ended would have been a pain.@@aopet7615

@@martinbergen2963favorite arc for me too. I figured they were going to skip it and actually did hope that they would in favor of a movie. Overlord seems to adapt 3 volumes for each anime season. This arc was 2 volumes, so anime would have ended up in a weird spot if they were to follow their 3 volumes to a season ratio. I was worried they would end up doing something silly with the plot in an attempt to work around this. So, a movie for this arc was the best option in my opinion. It also allows them to follow focus on one arc.
Warning/clarification: this movie takes place in the middle of season 4 and there’s a time skip to accommodate for it, but it’s a great season all the same
those dont look like what a Pope would wear though.. its heavily inspired by the Imperial Dragon clothes that the king wears in both Chinese and Korean history

I love how the narrative went from first person protagonist figuring out the world he's now stuck in, to that of a comprehensive documentary or novel turned series.
I see it as a sort of anthology of the new world inhabitants with Ainz as a reoccurring character. Lots of characters get introduced, get killed off, or fade into the background after a volume.
