Yeah ive always wanted to learn how to make a katar!! Hell yeah its a weapon used by ancient rajput warriors so being a rajput its always been my favourite melee weapon!! Young warriors were given one of these and they had to go kill themselves a lion or a crocodile in the forest to prove themselves!! Your project was creative as hell!!
Awesome! I'm honestly surprised no one makes these.... besides one episode on Forged in Fire there are not other videos. A pity because they are AWESOME weapons
I am trying to make a proper template to make the usable decoration where the katar opens up. But it's near impossible. Perhaps that might be a good challenge. Considering the fact that you created Captain America shield as a Shield Knuckle
@@jakemakes I guess... But still badass. I'm also surprised no one's ever created actual Talon War Gauntlets. ( remodified gauntlets that have Long Sharp fingers that's meant for slashing and impaling ) ( like the actual finger Taps are actual blades that imitates the same way big cats fight with their claws
Yeah thats cause talons like that have no strength.... you'd break your fingers off trying to slash at something. I'd try to make some if not for that. Thats why most bladed gauntlets have the blades fixed to something more solid like the bracer (on mine) or back of hand, or to a bar that you can grip like wolverine claws.
Cool! That forge looks great. I threw my own together recently... in like 30 mins with random parts and fire bricks laying around. It burns hot but pretty rich so I'll prob have to make a new one. any way, loved the vid. Keep up the good work!
Thanks! Wha'd you use for a burner? I need to fine tune mine a bit....... I can't seem to get up to forge welding temps. Something wrong with the fuel ratio logically, but I haven't had the time to mess with it yet.
Used a crap-ton of adapters to take it from the propane tank to a needle (the kind used to fill footballs etc.). The propane gets shot through some 1 inch black __?__ pipe which I have welded to a 1/4" steel plate roughly the size of a brick. The chamber is just some regular fire brick that holds up pretty good and doesn't easily crack. It gets a railroad spike orange hot in ~3 mins. Prob see it in future vid. I think a lean burn is generally hotter (due to more oxygen) (at least in engines) than when it burns rich so I will prob end up building a new one that is somehow adjustable. I also had an idea for making a regular wood foundry burner...
I talked to Jakes Custom Knives about building katar awhile back. I thought he finnally built one; but then i saw it was you. I aint even mad bro this is DOPE and im super glad to see you make another video!
Haha, well we'll see what this Jake can do. Its funny how few people have made katars, when I decided to make one I searched all over the place for anyone who had done it before. Nothing on youtube at all, and only a couple other places i could find anywhere else. No one with a tutorial. Kinda funny. I really want to see Alec steele give it a try, what with the damascus he does. It would turn out epic!
Katar sure. Proper katar? Not even close. Proper katar has three blades. It opens by press of the handle into a fork type shape. Blade has to be diamond shaped for prying open armour. Good basic try however.
Nice try buddy, but Katar is one whole piece and not forged in pieces & definitely not put together. I came here hoping to learn how to forge Katar from one whole iron piece.
Lol there’s more than one way to make a knife... the only other videos of katar forging I can think of is that forged in fire episode. Try looking that up I can’t remember if they forged it out of one piece or not tho. Nobody makes katars. Good luck
@@jakemakes - In India there are some swords and knife makers & who still make Katars. But, they are no where near the original types which were used in ancient India. I have one such antique piece and was thinking to give a try to make / forge one. Take care buddy!
@@jakemakes - hey Jake, I just did some research on the internet and found a Indian seller who sells different types of swords, knifes and there is a Katar as well. Here is the time stamp (1:34) to check about Katar. Pls check this video: ruclips.net/video/3WDcamuOXMA/видео.html
Hi you already know I love your video style ! Great to see you getting better and better at this job(well it is isn't it a job!) I can see all the effort you put in to RUclips. My advice is do what you love doing and your life will be satisfing . Enjoy this time and leave only good stuff to look back on. Be proud of what you do.

Underrated channel, hope you get noticed
I have been dying to look for a video of someone creating their own Katar. It's actually one of my favorite fist weapons

Bro. We look a lot alike.
Poor fellow XD
Where do you get your railroad spikes?
The rr tracks. When there ain't nobody looking 😉
What wheel did you use on the angle grinder, a wire one?
Grinding wheel. A wire wheel isn't quite hard enough to take off scale, though it works great for rust.
Wrong blade dimensions. Fail.
This is sikhism weapon
Wrong. It is Hindu weapon, Check your facts. It's made for use with Kalaripayattu, which again is a Hindu warfare martial arts
