033. My $1 Million Portfolio - June 2024

Welcome to the $1 Million Portfolio update for June 2024! We're sitting at $1.141M since May, which is up 5.9% from last month. YTD the portfolio is up 3.14% (14.06% since inception). All of this is due to my allocation to LT bonds, especially with the leverage. I was premature moving to this and made some mistakes with options that were called away from me earlier in the year, so I'm paying the price now. Had I been in the allocation I set out for this portfolio at the beginning of the year, we would be seeing gains north of 30% right now. But that's water under the bridge and I'll play the hand I dealt myself.
The 2024 $1 Million Portfolio Allocation remains:
35% - QQQ
15% - TQQQ
15% - TLT
10% - TMF
15% - SCHD or O
10% - GLD
It will take me a bit of time to re-balance to this allocation. Life is messy. The overall allocation hasn't changed all that much since last year except that I'm adding a bit of leverage to the Large Cap Growth and Long Term Treasury allocation. It's risky and I'm OK with it. You better think about it if you're going to follow me.

Hi Tony! Glad to hear from another person of Vietnamese descent! My main advice for you would be to save as aggressively as you can as soon as you can. The dollars you can put to work while you're young will pay big dividends in the long haul. Give it a decade or two and you'll see great results. Watch your fees and go with low cost index funds to build your portfolio.
None of this should be new or earth shattering but it's always worth hearing. It's how I managed to build my wealth... unless you're one of those 0.1% of folks, either through raw talent, luck, or a combination of the two, the way to wealth is time, discipline, and consistency. There are no shortcuts and anyone telling you otherwise has another agenda. Good luck to you!
