Her full voice is soooo amazing! I have been following her since 2017 and even though her whispery voice is extremely beautiful, I always knew she has a lot of range and I love to see she is showing it more. Happier than ever was a great album but she didn´t show off her vocals much, so when I saw this and the grammy performance, I was so happy. She is very talented and the team with Finneas is wonderful. I hope in her next projects she shows more of this side of her voice! Nice video btw :)
If you really want to know how she pulls these vocals in a concert, there are two videos on her channel performing this very song in Chicago and at Reading. Both are large, very large concerts.
Thank you for reacting to this performance - I think Billie was just perfect and I've not seen her perform this song any better than the SNL performance. Billie sang it at the Grammys but she was off and it wasn't as good. The only other artist that I think can "whisper sing" as good as Billie is Olivia Rodrigo. She whisper sings on the final verse of Lacy and I think it would be phenomenal if Olivia covered this song.

They discuss the recording and Billie talks about how she really wanted to sound like someone who just had a good cry. She's very proud of both her vocal and the song and rightly so. It's message is timeless and deserves all the praise and awards it's got.
I like the girl from AI better actually and I love Billie. I just personally don't like an entire song of all the same thing. Mariah Carey is a perfect example of going through the gambit of all ups and down, in and outs. I didn't hear Billie's version before hearing the girl from AI though. Could be why? Who knows.
