@@steve-marsh Steve, if you ever run out of ideas, please consider a trip to Malham Tarn. One of only 8 soda lakes in Europe! The others are in Hungary (5), 1 in Serbia, 1 in Italy.
Absolutely Love watching your videos and adventures. At times even more entertaining than watching the telly...I'm Rod a Freelamce Broadcsster who lives in Dundee...I did the Kiltwalk in 2022 & 2023 raising money for Marie Curie in memory of my late Wife....Ii enjoy watching your adventures and reminds me of my travels with my late wife...Very best wishes and kind regards to you both...from Rod Johnston in Dundee
And here i am, a Norwegian whom belived such villages (Ferrydan) where rare and most used as filmscenes... That was way over my expectations of a small (wee) fishervillage. So impressed with the scenery, and how tidy and nice it seemed. Thank You for taking us along, that was a nice surprice 😊
I'll be playing a gig at Forbes Of Kingennie on 20th August with all proceeds going to Scottish Mountain Rescue. As a hill walker I appreciate their efforts and yours. Great cause.
I always donate to air rescue charities. Never know when you or someone you care about might need them so well done for playing your part Brian and hope all goes well with the gig.
Much respect to you two and those that help this organisation. Every time I am in Scotland, I ensure that my pocket 'shrapnel' (ie. countless coins and pounds from the pubs, etc.) goes into mountain rescue fundraising jars. I deliberately give to mountain rescue and rescue dog training jars. The charity organisations are fantastic in Scotland. Incredible that the air helicopter ambulance is charity driven as well (SCAA). For a traditionally frugal culture, the Scots are wonderful at donating to good causes.
@@steve-marsh Steve although I live in the West mids I am a big Brechin city fan however Brechin has an abbey which is really old to make it a city might be worth a visit if your that way on
There are so many beautiful nooks and secrets on Scotland's east east. Rusty Nails would be checking those pottery fragments for makers mark and clues to their age. Another great video and good luck with the Kiltwalk.
"We need to explore our local area". For me that happened when I became a parent, on parental leave and later when I walked around with my daughter. I is extraordinary how blind one can be of ones surroundings.
Oh boy, you sent me down quite a rabbit hole, didn't you!! I was intrigued by the woman who founded the school. Her father worked in Kingston, Jamaica, and was influential in stopping the slave trade. He was friends with Lord Nelson and William Wilberforce and gave evidence to help stop the slave trade. He had children by a 'quarter black' slave who he freed and set up with a boarding house business when he returned to England and eventually married Maria Ross's mother. I watched a programme a while ago with Clive Myrie, I think, where they showed the plantations and said some of the owners who had slaves loved their mistresses and looked after them well. It seems unorthodox to us, but it was a different time. Anyway, I've learnt something new today. Thanks for the lovely walk!
I love that place I'd be in heaven if I lived there so lovely beautiful houses love the little gardens and plants everywhere people have pride in the town love the boat garden thanks for another great video😊😊😊😊
Another great video with you both. Very interesting walk and glad to hear you’re doing the kilt walk for Scotland Mountain Rescue. Well done to you both.
Pretty confident the owner of that closed pub will be ex Royal Navy, Diamond Lil's on Union st in Plymouth was a legendary place for matelots to go for some let's say, entertainment....
well done for your support we totally need people like you to keep us doing our passion spent 20 yrs in mountain rescue before moving to Canada still very much keep in touch with the team and its members, good luck with the walk
When I was growing up in Yorkshire, my best mate's house was called Ferryden, but I never knew it was a place until I started watching your channel Steve! Thanks for teaching me something, and good luck with they walk!
This practice walk, yes, I recall the scenery when you folks first moved in. Seriously, I would not have a problem wearing a fine kilt. I'd have cargo shorts under it though. Fitting in with culture is one of the best things ever. Catch you guys later.
Enjoyed the video as usual Steve and Alicia. I look forward to seeing your video of the walk. I will try and find the link and support you. I am doing a charity climb in Glencoe and Scotland Mountain Rescue is one of the charities. I will give you a shout when it is. Cheers, Tim.
Just returned from a trip to Dundee and Stonehaven, thanks to your recommendations. Thank you so much, Steve! 😊 Beautiful scenery and fantastic people Deep-fried Mars bar from The Carron was shockingly tasty 😂
Just finished watching your kilt walk and this turned up. Congrats on raising so much on the walk and I envy you so much being able to walk so far, 10 to 15 minutes walking and I am done, but that's the price of old age. keep up the good work and keep those videos coming.
Thanks for showing us a video of your area and looks very nice. All be best with your 21 mile walk and of course all those emergency organisations who help people and are fantastic volunteers. 👍🏻🚶🏻♀️🚶
Great walk around your neck of the woods! Looks like a few amazing local exploring videos could be possible! How wonderful to live so close to the water! Thanks for this very enjoyable video!
Just got home to find your video waiting,a delightful walk along the waterside, lovely cottages and scenery, beautiful. I wish you both all the best for the upcoming trek and I do hope that Mountain Rescue does well from it. Thank you and stay safe and well, cheers from Oz.
That was cool Steve. Ferryden looks a canny wee place. Good look on your walk in a couple of weeks time - it promises to be a great day, and a very worthwhile cause too 😊
Hi Steve , you’re more than welcome to have my spare kilt …it’s the dress Gordon kilt ,I’ve used it a few times at sprorting events ,doesn’t get used now . Fits 36 inch waist
Well done for supporting the mountain rescue service! Just looked online and you could get yourself a new (though polyester) kilt for under £40. Maybe that's too much though.. Loved the idea of a "Wee Azuma" at the beginning of the video.
Definitely will be donating. As a hill walker, I always try to make sure I won't need to call on mountain rescue, but it's always in the back of my mind that I might need their help one day. They do incredible and dangerous work across the UK. Good on you for helping them out.
This is interesting walking around your village and seeing interesting sites. Alicja is enjoying the walk and you chattering away. There is the Lighthouse can you imagine living in that building. The Scottish Seagulls are quite rowdy. Here in Cape Town South Africa they are more genteel lol
Just made a contribution. Never rescued from a mountain walk, but was rescued once by the National (US) Ski Patrol, so I was on a mountain😉. These organizations deserve all the kudos they receive! Best wishes on the walk. Great video today as well.
Thanks for your efforts on behalf of this excellent charity, and for providing the links so we can support your fundraising. I'll be cheering you both on come the day 💪😊
I did the Ferryden/Scurdie Ness walk last November and I also met that big ginger fur factory. He looks a bit like a cat I had as a teenager. Good luck for the 11th.
I've watched loads of ur videos and can't believe I got in ur video at my work wen u done the kit walk u past me beside Tayport harbour. Great effort from both of you
Good one Steve, great to see you preparing for the big walk. You will need to visit the lighthouse on doors open day, usually September. Luckily Alicja will not need to carry you! Great sunset on the water with still sea to boot.
Talking of Gable Ends, when I lived in Montrose as a kid, played for many football teams. One was called the Gable Enders. We were rubbish but had a cool silver kit 👍
Great video Steve. Always nice to see Alicja appear, she has such a fun personality that enhances any video and what an entertaining journey it was to the lighthouse.
What a fantastic place...& just a stroll away from you both. How lucky you are! Amazing skies, seagulls' cries, beautiful sunset, pussycats😼😼 along the way & a lighthouse at the end. What more could you ask for?! Hope you get that kilt Steve (lots of suggestions in the comments!) & good luck for the walk in August x J x
I'm in Arran mountain rescue team so thank you so for your support
Hey thanks for the comment and all the work you do!!!
What beautiful countryside, thank you for sharing this with us. Regards Michael from Tasmania
Love the ambient sounds of the walk. Gravel road, river shores and bird song.
You can see the pride people take in their village. I loved all the different things people had done with plants, seating etc.
Totally agree!
