      I agree, I’ve run 450 km in my V12 and it feels flat and dull, especially compared to the many other shoes I own. I still sometimes use it for short runs in bad weather mainly. Will likely buy V13 when it hits sales here in Finland, it seems to be more soft, bouncy and fun.

    What a great review of the 1080. I find the experiences I had with my shoe spot on with the details Kofuzi provides. In my opinion I believe if you go with the 1080 you'd be more likely to stick to zone 2 vs the Rebel v4. My only complaint about New Balance is the outsole. I really wish they would address the issue with excessive wear on the shoe bottoms.

    Just a newbie in running and I was looking for a max cushion shoes because the pegasus is too firm for me. Got this 1080v13 for $103 from the new balance store. Steal! Last pair of 1080v13 gray size 9 Wide. All other colors are on regular price.
    I tried both the more v4 and this. I was actually surprised that the more v4 is firmer but less bouncier. And this 1080v13 has more cushion that I can literally feel but it is also has more bounce.
    Just finished my first run earlier using this and I am loving it. The hard impact that I am feeling from my pegasus before greatly lessened. It is also stable enough for me contrary to other reviews saying that it’s not. Great shoes for me.

    Totally agree about the rubber wear. I have 160km/100miles on mine, as a lateral heel/midfoot striker the rubber doesn't go to the edge enough, so the foam is taking a little beating. By 300ish km I'll have lateral rocker on the shoe.

    I have an all white pair of version 13 that’s I’ve worn anytime I’m running around doing shit. Recycling cans going to the gym just beating them up - and I weigh 300 pounds 😮😮 the foam has definitely compressed a bit but they still feel great and while they are dirty - the shoe itself has held up very well. Indeed he found the shoe to be quite dull for the modern standards, which makes total sense. But the 880 has the intention of offering a more traditional package (a firmer ride, stability and a lot of rubber on the outsole) something that doesn't seem to please him very much.
      New Balance is now offering all-around daily trainers that suit different preferences, from the classic style 880 to the all new rockered and bouncy Balos. Hope Kofuzi takes the shoe a bit farther to see if the foam breaks down a bit.

    Score 7/10 .
    Can't wait for the More v5 ! It should be a better pair of shoes for my taste: high soft cushioning that absorve better the impact of the foot strikes and the guardrails it has to make them much less wobbly them the 1080 v13.

    Just got this shoe to try as I went through two pairs of Nimbus 25 and wanted to try something different. Love that it seems to force more fore- to mid-foot strike for me due to a lower drop (I think this is 6mm while Nimbus is 8mm?) so my knees are happier. The two runs I've taken this shoe on so far had felt effortless and I think it's a keeper. The cushion does have a slight sinking feeling but not bad to the point that it's sucking energy. I do question the durability and how fast the foam will flatten and wear out though, because right now fresh out of the box it feels so nice but I can see that over time it'll feel dead. Hopefully it'll last me at least 300 miles before that happens!

      @@Scott_800 Hey glad you followed up on my comment because I’ve been absolutely loving the 1080. I feel like I trend faster in the 1080 without exerting extra energy. Maybe it’s because I’m so used to the Nimbus so anything less cushiony feels like a rocket on my feet. I know a lot of people find the 1080 too soft but to me it’s definitely not as soft as the More v4. I think you should give it a try. My Strava shows that I’ve logged over 140 miles on the 1080 as I write this so I think it’s still going strong. Have to say I haven’t picked up Nimbus much in the last month or so but maybe it’s also because my Nimbus is nearing the end of its life. Might be worth keeping both in the rotation.

    I’m having an issue with certain New Balance shoes, particularly the More V4 and 1080v13. The tongue is uncomfortable because a piece of fabric behind the seam (toward the toes) constantly rubs against the top of my foot. It's strange, but the More V5 doesn’t have this problem! I can’t understand how anyone can wear these two models, as that piece of fabric keeps pressing and rubbing against the foot. No other shoe brand seems to have this issue - in every other shoe, the fabric behind the seam at the end of the tongue is always neatly trimmed, regardless of the model. Can someone explain what’s going on? Check your More V4 or 1080v13 shoes - doesn’t it bother you? Does anyone have any ideas on what I can do? These two are by far the most comfortable shoes for me, but I can’t wear them because of this issue. I don’t have any problems with the Rebel V4, which I’m currently wearing.

    Would you use 1080v13 for long runs, Revel V4 for tempo and Elite V4 for race day? Or Rebel is just like 1080 for long runs?

    I just bought the rebel v4s and even though the cushioning on them is great, I've been thinking of getting something with a bit more of a softer feel for those long slow runs or easy runs. Do you reckon it's still worth getting the 1080 v13 if I already have the rebel v4? As the rebel seems to be aimed slightly more at those tempo and speedier interval training sessions

    What is the thought process / criteria for the pairing recommendations? I have the 1080v13 and I love them… I get why a speedier shoe would be good for workouts but wondering why Kofuzi picked those specifically to go with the 1080v13?

    • @kofuzi
      @kofuzi  10 месяцев назад

      the process is:

      (2) assuming a person likes this shoe and also assuming that the person had no other shoes, what would I recommend they get next?

  • @doros9.2
    @doros9.2 10 месяцев назад +1

    Firstly, great channel, well done. Would you pick the 1080v13 over the Nimbus 25 as a daily trainer AND recovery day shoe? I just bought the Nimbus and I feel it “sucks” a bit of the energy out of my run, allowing for only slow paces (which, to be fair, is what I actually need, but it’s a bit boring). Btw, the reason I went for the Nimbus 25 is the huge price difference in Europe. I got the N25 for €120 while the 1080s retail for €190! Worth the price difference?

    • @meangirlbecca
      @meangirlbecca 8 месяцев назад

      I've had two pairs of the Nimbus 25 and loved the shoe. Agreed that it comes across as too much cushion and energy sucking but it seems to work for me fine for easy runs with slight pace pick-ups. I think it could be more durable than the 1080v13 as I don't see a lot of wear and tear at all. The big difference to me is that the Nimbus has an 8mm drop while the 1080v13 has 6mm. I've noticed a significant change to my foot strike and which muscles I use more with these two shoes. For me the 1080v13 is a bit easier on the knees. The Nimbus 25 is cheaper now because it's an older model - the Nimbus 26 has been out for quite some time already.

    • @doros9.2
      @doros9.2 8 месяцев назад

      @@meangirlbecca Hey! Thanks for replying. Meanwhile, I‘ve covered about 160 km with my Nimbus shoes and love them! I began as a heavier runner and with my old shoes, me knees would kill me in pain after every run, even if that was slow. With the Nimbus I am almost pain-free (though I‘ve also lost a significant amount of weight) and I feel like they protect my legs. Regarding the speed thing I mentioned in my initial comment, I feel like the shoes don‘t really hold me that much back. In fact, I like them so much that I ran my first ever 10K competitions in them, improving my 10K time to from 1:06:45 to 1:01:14 in my first effort ten days ago and down to 1:00:09 yesterday! That might sound slow -and it probably is- but it‘s the fastest I‘ve ever run such a distance. My only problem with the shoes is the grip in wet conditions, as they can be very slippery on some road surfaces.
