880/860 FTW. I’ve just retired my latest pair of 860s after 1100 miles of daily training. I run 4000+ miles a year and for daily road work these are my go. Another helpful summary for those looking for their next pair of shoes, thank you Ben.
I’m a medical student and I use the 1080 v12 as an every day shoe and trust me they are the most comfortable shoes I’ve ever used. I’ve used the ultraboost, vomero but they don’t come close to the comfort the 1080 gives
My favourite brand. They nearly never make bad shoes and for me the fit and comfort is just perfect. They also make some brilliant trail shoes and the Venom is a gem. What a shoe!
880v12 was my first New Balance shoe and i loved it, ran a few sub 20 5kms and a sub 40 10km in it. Loved the dual foams where it was soft on the bottom but the top layer was a firmer / more active foam that gave that bit of pop for when i wanted some speed.
I am sooooo with you on this. I own more shoes than I should publicly admit, and some of them are expensive, and my Propel V4’s are some of my very favorites.
Own a pair.great shoe.bought for 90usd early this year, last week price drop even more around 65usd during sale.was thinking to grab for 2nd pair but end up with puma DN2.
A good review thanks , I am looking forward to the next SC pacer which will be out soon .. slightly lower stack race day shoe. The 1080v13 and Rebel V4 have been a revelation for me.
I have been through a handful of shoes since I started running last year and he SC Trainer has become one of my favorites. It's so damn comfortable to run in, highly recommend!
Thanks, Ben! Great vid as always. New Balance always make a great & comfortable shoes. I’ve had a little bit of gripe with New Balance because they always had discrepancies with their stack height & drop stated. For example, NB SC Elite V3 stated as 40mm stack height with 4mm drop, its definitely not felt like what its stated. Later i found out that its actually 35mm with 12mm drop as per runrepeat found out.
Love your reviews. My opinion is that you missed one of their very best offerings because of the great price - the Propel V4. I reach for those more often than some of my shoes that were $50 more. They have a FuelCell midsole, like some of their much more expensive options, and a TPU plate. Best deal on the market. My two cents!
I'm also excited about trying the new SC Trainer v3. Same exact foam as the Rebel v4, plus the inclusion of a carbon plate. a more cushioned upper. Should be a fun training shoe, with a boost. I'm also excited by the Pacer v2, which has a more lightweight, lower stack racing shoe, up to half marathon distance.
I just returned the Fuelcell Rebel V4 today. Its super light, breathes well, looks great and felt fantastic upon initial step in. Took it out for my first run and noticed the foam really compressed and didnt bounce back. 1 mile in and i was done.... just felt no responsiveness, no bounce. I started to feel way too much impact and knew it wasn't for me. Boxed back up and got my money back. If the foam had a little more pop to it, it would have been perfect.
I always get so excited when you release a new shoe brand review like this! I would love to see On next, the Cloudsurfer is one of my favorite shoes and I’d be interested to see your perspective on some of their other shoes too like the Cloud Boom Echo.
I picked up some 1080's v10 cheap at an outlet and tried running in them once, such a bad experience I never ran in them again but they are a great walking shoe and very durable. I started off running in 880's v4 I think and had some other versions but didn't get on with one of the versions and tried pegasus 32's and I loved them, didn't like 33-35 but did like 36's gave up on Pegs after the 36's. In the last year I've decided to run in plated shoes all the time, Vaporfly 2's and 3's and Alphafly2's, the vaporfly 3's are my personal best shoe ever, I'm still running in a pair that have nearly 1000km on them. I did this because I believe plated shoes change the way you run and swapping between non plated and plated I feel caused me issues. I remember kicking my inside right ankle with my left foot and bemused why I was doing it, I decided it was when I was wearing non plated shoes. It is expensive training in plated shoes all the time but I try and buy discounted from Nike and send the one's back that wear too quickly.
I’ve had the rebel 2, 3 and 4. Have used them as interval / speed day shoes. The 4 is my favourite with more stack and stability I can do long runs and easy runs in it. 23km today with 10km at half Mara pace in the V4.
Please do a video on your socks! Not sure how much in depth you can get on socks, lol, however LOVE them and don't know what they are (here in the States)
Got the 880v12 GTX 2E and they’ve been sublime… it’s like walking on clouds… the only gripe I have is that the outsole seems to be peeling off at the heel (the cushion coming off the base of the outsole)… suspect this might be due to the shoe being an old stock but with this one and the new Cumulus 26 it’s been fantastic! Your reviews helped with the purchase decisions 🎉!!! Thanks !
in comparison measurements the 880 is actually wider in the toes the 1080 108 going from 99m at the widest to 78mm at the big toe while the 880 goes from 102mm to 82mm in men's US size 9.5
If anyone wants a low stack shoe try the NB tempo v2 - good price, can do anything in it. Durability holding up well for me so far. As someone with ankle problems most shoes nowadays scare me with their high stack that I’ll just ruin my ankles again going over from so high and having less ground feel - but I love this, plus can wear it casually
I'm a big Adidas fan so would like to see a video on them, but I've been wanting to try out some On shoes for a while so would probably prefer to see a breakdown of their models so I can figure out which models I want to look out for on sale to try!
I got calcaneocuboid ligament effusion and edema on right foot wearing New Balance More V4... I don't know what I'm doing wrong, I can feel it's harder to run in them, like running in sand. Maybe I was going to fast, maybe my feet are weak... I waited 5 days, took my prescribed meds, cooled the pain area and I cointinued running in harder shoes without problems. For walking I use Xero barefoot shoes.
Quality as always Ben! As an overpronator, what would be your nod for a faster / marathon shoe?? (Or anyone else in the comments?!)....(Brand agnostic)...
I had a 1 level spinal fusion in December and I’m cleared to run again next week. I was thinking of getting the NB 1080 for extra cushioning. Or would another New balance model be a better choice? Before I always had Nike Pegasus.
For a flat feet but not a severe overpronator, would using 860 better than using the 880 that is inserted with orthotic insole? I have few insoles that i use since i mostly use neutral shoes.
I was shocked to find that the 1080 was the best fitting road shoe for my narrow feet at my running shop recently. I had to be convinced to give them a try, as every NB I’d ever tried before had been almost comically wide and everyone I know who wears them has wide feet. I honestly thought that was the whole point of the brand.
Not a runner but im disappointed with this years NB version of the 860. The mm drop from 10 mm to 8 mm doesn't do it for me. I got a new pair of the previous version of the 860 on sale instead.
I dont know why but the 1080 v13's that I bought recently have been the opposite of what you said and are very uncomfortable to me, to the point where it hurts my foot and is drawing my attention to it mid-run. This is around 50 miles into them, dont plan on using them anymore. Anyone else have this experience?
I use it for daily for around a month and a half but 1080 is prone to ankle twist and pronations esp while running /standing. I personally will only use it like 1 hr max. And only to commute while riding a motorbike. It already make my ankle and knees hurt to the point i just bought 880v14 today instead. Haven't tried 880 but since ppl said its way more stable laterally it should be the choice of use.

That is quick. Did you ever do races in the faster shoes like a Vaporfly?
I know it’s been out for a while but I really liked the Fuelcell Propel V4. Very versatile shoe, not too expensive and good durability
I am sooooo with you on this. I own more shoes than I should publicly admit, and some of them are expensive, and my Propel V4’s are some of my very favorites.
I’ve 3 pair of these. Bargain for €100

V5 is looking even better than the 4s and I like the 4s very much also
Oooooh. Hadn’t heard that.
@@jasondohm4977 if in the US, New Balance has them on their site, not much else where yet for the most part
Thanks Jason! Hopefully people will see your comment for the recommendation.

I can only afford 2 shoes so I took the More V4s for easy/daily runs and the Boston 12s for speed sessions and race days.
If You have plantar fascitis, must use more v4. Very wide and cushion perfect for mantein fitness

I thought NB didn't offer money back if you've worn them out and about.
@mikeharvey7383 I took them back to the store I bought them from. They were clean like new. I ran 1 mile in them and took them off
@@gkott78 I bought mine from an outlet, cheap but no return policy.

I found the Rebel v3 to have a better, tighter fit than the v4. Great value if you can find it on sale.
Love this series, huge fan of the channel! Value your opinion so much more because they are not brand partnerships
wake up babe new ben parks just dropped

1080 V12 waaayy better than the v13 sometimes newer model isn't always better cheers Ben👍
Great Video Ben, I find that very useful and will be using this video to buy my next shoes
Adidas next plssss 🙌🏼
Working on it!
I just got the new rebels last week. Not bad shoes. Not overly cushioned but were so light that they almost don’t exist lol.
Great video. The Rebels are an awesome value. Would not recommend 1080s for hiking though lmao
Another great review. I can’t help thinking that the carbon race shoes are a tad on the heavy side compared to its competition or even the Rebel v4.
How about ranking the best shoes for threadmill runs?
Love your work, man.. Keep it up!
Thank you for the suggestion!
I am not a New Balance user, just came here to upvote, comment, watch and go for your efforts.
Great video's Ben. Please could you do a review of the mizuno range!!!
Have added it to the list!

The 880 is my favorite shoe
I wanted to like the 1080 but it gave me pain on my left foot especially in the area below the thumb
Quality as always Ben! As an overpronator, what would be your nod for a faster / marathon shoe?? (Or anyone else in the comments?!)....(Brand agnostic)...
Will you be reviewing the super trainer v3, balos and more v5?
Did my first ever marathon (and all the training) in the 880’s and they ended up lasting me >1000k’s. Back before a ‘rotation’ was a thing
This guy freaking rules man. Love this channel
Have you done the saucony range yet?
Love these videos! 👍
Next lineup review should be Puma, please!
Love these lists ❤

+1 for the 880’s, I’ve got two pairs in my rotation.
Whats the best shoe for 5k 10k race and tempo runs?
I was looking forward to this one!!!!! 🥳🥳🥳
SC Elite v4 have 2E width option here in Australia
I was shocked to find that the 1080 was the best fitting road shoe for my narrow feet at my running shop recently. I love the Supercomputer V2. Nice daily trainer. Mine cost £140 at my local NB Outlet at Bicester Village
It's super comp for ( competition) not computer. 😅
All of these shoes have a wide option! I have both Supercomp's in wide.
I would love to see an ON round up, although I think most will vote for Adidas.
I picked up some more v4 in a new balance outlet for €87 each. Bargain
I have the 680 fresh foam. Got them recently and I’ve enjoyed them so far
Thanks for the video.. We need to talk about newton's shoes
didn't like the REBEL V4. my heels sank... and was forced to Midfoot.
Now some kid in Africa has a brand new set Rebel V4s!!
The 1080 works for me in every way!
Hi Ben!! More V4 or 1080V13. Which one would you choose for a 2-3 workouts a week (2 slow 8-10 kms and 1 slow long run).
Same question, what did you decide to go for?
Not a runner but im disappointed with this years NB version of the 860. The mm drop from 10 mm to 8 mm doesn't do it for me. I got a new pair of the previous version of the 860 on sale instead.
Great work Ben, my vote for the next one is adidas
Coming up shoes will be puma, china brands, adidas, mizuno
NB is probably the only brand that offer wide options in all their shoes
I got the 1080 and the outsole seems pretty fragile 😔
Great video Ben. Please do an Adidas shoe video👍
I dont know why but the 1080 v13's that I bought recently have been the opposite of what you said and are very uncomfortable to me, to the point where it hurts my foot and is drawing my attention to it mid-run. Have you seen the New Balance Minimus Trail? They just came out lol.
ADIDAS OR ON BOTH SOUND GREAT!
adidas next!
Tried the rebel was at least 1 size too small 😢
£140 seems to be the most competitive price point for running shoes these days!
Would love to see ON lineup!
Please review all on shoes
