    From amateur to amateur advice. I've tested many shoes but for me if I'd need to buy only one pair I'd go with puma deviate nitro 2. Great shoe, very versatile and I've run it on concrete and also on trails in the woods(no crazy ones, just flat forest).

      @@ezekieltong12 I've got both models (the velocity for easy/recovery run; the deviate for longer, marathon-type of efforts) and as the deviate comes with a carbon plate it is more stable (and fast). The velocity has a more natural feel, so it is a bit more demanding on your foot and ankle, even though it's still a very comfortable shoe.

    My daughter has started running, and having moved past 'is it a fad' we've discussed shoes. She went to local stores but there isn't a decent running shop nearby. So I bought her 3 pairs of new sale shoes (on-line) from last season to try. Saucony Guide 16 (£50) Saucony ES3 (£65) and Asics Trabuco Max 2 for off-road (£65). I took the view that getting 3 pairs for the price of one was a great way for her to find out what works for her, and she can sell the ones she doesn't like.

    Don't forget about the TR version of the Novablasts. Not a real trail shoe but the added grip makes them a much better option if you live somewhere where it rains regularly or you are running on paths/light trails

  • @millankelderman5876
    @millankelderman5876 4 месяца назад +18

    As someone whos worked in an Asics shoes shop for 7+ years, the majority of people do Overpronate and need arch support, even having a high arch sometime require arch support, as starting to run longer distances caused your body to fatigue and your arches may collapse.
    Overpronating can cause lots of pain and injury in "the long run" as you can put lots of strain on the wrong areas of foot and leg, which travels all the way up.

      I’m glad I read this comment, so does that mean you need a stability shoe or just low arch support inserts. I was running in Clifton 9s for three weeks decided to go get my feet scanned and they put me in the glycerin 21st and got injured within four runs. Post tib tendinitis. So now I’m scared to go back to a stability shoe I just got the NB 4

    The hardest part is working out if you prefer firm or soft. It isn't something you can work out in a shop or with a quick run. I have been using the novablast 3's and speed 3's. Got a pair of more v4's and don't really like them. They are good for walking. I don't like to run in them. Definitely going to stick to a firmer shoe from now on. The blast being as soft as i would go.

    Great video as always! 1080 v11s is my do it all shoe, though i only do easy runs and one long run on the weekend. I ran 30km in the 1080 v11s once. I have 3 pairs of 1080 v11s that i got for less than half price. I have velocity nitro v1 and clifton 8 too but rarely use them to change things up if ive used 1080 v11s few days in a row. I have slightly wide flat feet and love NB shoes for running and other sports i play, their casual shoes are great too, just fits me well. Asics novablast, nimbus and glideride interest me too. Deviate nitro is a shoe i would like to try one day too when im bit more advanced.

  • @JTD33
    @JTD33 7 месяцев назад +4

    I haven't ran in the Velocity Nitro 3 (now higher stack) but I think the Puma Magnify Nitro 2 is a really good shoe especially for someone who wants cushion, and it has a wider & more stable platform. It can go short or long, easy or somewhat quicker, and on the road or gravel paths. And can be had for good deals online. Sizing is a bit long and the EU sizes aren't the same as for other brands so better to go by centimeters. Honestly in my mind much better than the Nimbus due to being significantly lighter and has way better outsole grip.

    I just got the Saucony Triumph 22's after having been fitted but I also have a pair of Noosa Tri 15's. The Tri 15's are amazing for what I use them for but apparently, having torn my ACL before both my feet are different sizes AND different pronations so I need a stability shoe. Newbie runner here with advice to newbies. (A) Go to a runner shoe store, I was stunned to figure out I was wearing 1 size too small for like 25 years of my life! (B) Start slow and slowly add on the miles per week. (3) You don't need to worry about speed, just slowly stack on mileage around Zone 2 style (learn to hold yourself back!) (C) Novafoam 4 vs Gel Nimbus 26s I tried on and bought the Novafoam 4s for the occasional speed runs, but I am heavier person, I would 1,000% recommend the Gel Nimbus 26s for a lot of slow running and/or work shoe. Absolutely like walking on clouds. The con of the 4's is the rubber, which I will pray will last a long time (1 shoe to do it all)

    I think its worth mentioning that recent research has discussed the injuries from max stack height shoes due to the lack of natural resistance. I know its the current trend but theres some research suggesting the lack of resistance is causing weaknesses through the leg joints and into the hips.
    Plated shoes arent for beginners, and if a shoe recommends them they are seeing pound signs rather than helping.

I know that Downshifter 13 has a bit more stability and not as much response as the Duramo Speed, so what should I do? I am considering running a bunch of 5km and 10km races and I am aiming for PR's hopefully, or give me some other recommendations, thanks.

    Didn’t like the Nimbus. It felt so wiggly. Love the Mach 6 though.

    I’ve had gait analysis twice in the last 14 months and both suggested stability shoes as I over pronate (I went with Hoka Arahi’s and some New Balance last year) but I get really bad arch pain when running in them. Should I try some neutral shoes?

      @@slamdunk118 but i thought all the space causes moving of feet too and wasted energy and blisters?

      @@Robzabest25 no, your toes move forward inside your shoes when you run. it would be best if you had a little bit of space

      Not a thumbs worth. More like a thumbs width if anything. Your feet will bump up against the inside of the shoe when you run and you want a bit of space inside so that you don't give yourself blisters from the rubbing.

    I never really understand when people tell others with high arches - like myself - to get a neutral running shoe. Isn’t a neutral running shoe going to have less arch support than a stable shoe? And I would like someone with high arches would need that extra support and stability? I mean I have high arches and my first pair were the arahi 4s and they were amazing. I then got Clifton 5s a year and half later and I got them bc the girl at the store said they had arch support. And let me tell you, those Clifton 5s were the WORST shoes I ever had. I was always in pain and when I wore them to work (retail job) my feet would hurt so much they I would slip my heel out and stand on the heel cuff. I did this multiple times. It wasn’t until I learned that those shoes had ZERO arches support and that I would need inserts to help that they felt okay. But at that point I had already ruined the plastic part in the heel and it was digging into my ankle. But they still never felt as good as my arahi 4s or the new arahi 6s I got. 🤷‍♀️ if someone can explain this that would help. Cuz I’m buying new shoes soon and I’m still getting the arahi 7s even though I technically should have a neutral shoe as someone with high arches 😂😂

    You can tell you have been a runner too long when you think £80 is a low price point.
