Surprised I held the camera this steady. Tears were pouring down my face. It was very touching being as David died only hours earlier. Well done Todd, Prairie, Jesse, Kasim and John.

+Michael Duffy I've been listening to rock for over 50 years (Beatles, on Ed Sullivan) and have loved so much of it. Only two artists that have passed brought me to tears, John Lennon in 80 and now David. God I loved that man and his music. Everything about him was just so so cool. I don't blame you for being so saddened.

      Thanks Bill Taylor.
I feel fortunate to have seen him at the Warfield Theater in 1997 thanks to a friend who knew Bowie. He was brilliant and his band was stellar.
Thanks again for the kind words.
      Best-Michael.

Todd Rundgren is a beautiful person. Not selfish. He is a true star in his own right, but he see's the beautiful talent around him and pays tribute to it. How much more could you ask of someone.

Todd didn't have to say a word, that opening guitar riff said it all. Everyone in the house knew, as so many Todd fans are Bowie fans as well. Class.

Todd produced an album of classic covers and new material for none other Shaun Cassidy (WASP was the title) back in the New Wave era. This song was one of the cuts that Todd contributed to musically and BG vocals. Worth checking out.

Thank you for recording this. I saw the band the next night in Portland - but alas with no Bowie tribute. I was sad that there wasn't an additional tribute, but this lets me know that it was a heartfelt spur of the moment tribute.

Nice to know that someone acknowledged David Bowie's passing. I was actually shocked when the Grammy's were on... big deal about George Michael, etc. Not a single word about Bowie. Guess mainstream will forever be clueless.

This doesn’t surprise me in the least. Quietly, as is his custom, Todd has been doing this for a while now. When George Harrison died, he added, “While My Guitar Gently Weeps,” to his set list. Off & on, it’s been there ever since. It’s always in his acoustic shows.
I’ve seen Todd live more tines than I can count. The only time I’ve ever seen him “off”...not into playing...not finishing a show strong...was the night after Jerry Garcia died. About 1/2 way through his expected set he played a GD tune, apologized, & called it a night.

It was obvious at the outset that they were just jamming this tune with no rehearsal as word of Bowie's passing had just come through, and Kasim wasn't sure where to go with the first change. It's an easy tune to play, still, it is always good to see a band that (i) is willing to 'go for it' onstage, (ii) is capable of doing so without failing, (iii) and sounds great doing it.
