    For the loading dock parking spots, make a means of the trucks connecting for charge. This would perfectly align the trucks for the loading and unloading of the cargo containers. Two problems solved with one solution.

      @@EngineeredCoffee Looks like you already have the load spots marked. You could swap to using armor panels and half-panels to mark it more precisely. After that, you have a space next to the door to place a rotor that can then interface with the elephant trunk on the front of the truck.

    You could use some event controllers to detect which connectors are already in use and block that position from the timers. Maybe this doesn't directly work as you turn "manually" the timers on and off, but a solution to this is to double the timers and use them as an "interface".
    Event controllers -> Turn on/off Root timers
    Buttons -> Turn on/off Interface timers -> Call Root timers
    And also, you do a really inspiring and insightful work. Thank you

    I reckon that if you want to use "connector connected" events for automating the container height, you will need a set of load and unload timers for each of the 15 positions. For sensors, you could have only one set of timers, and simply adjust the sensor range depending on whether you are putting the conatiner away or picking it up (using timer or button to change sensor range chages it by ~2.5m and works even when the sensor is turned off)
    Also, wouldn't it be nicer to have the truck bay selection buttons vertical, so it would align with the actual bays?

    • @EngineeredCoffee
      @EngineeredCoffee  Месяц назад

      I was just sitting here thinking the same thing. I want to try little hinges on the trolley to point the sensors to the right location. Great idea!

    • @Honza2268
      @Honza2268 Месяц назад +1

      @@EngineeredCoffee I was thinking having the sensors on the gantry, so they can check the current height while the trolley is out of position (having the trolley with a container in position would interfere with the sensors), turn them on momentarily so they can activate/deactivate their respective timer, which would effectively work the same as the buttons do now

  • @Galerak1
    @Galerak1 Месяц назад +2

    That crane system worked out brilliantly. Question, and maybe a suggestion (or two), what's to stop you from accidently sending a container to a position that's a) already taken or b) beneath an already occupied storage slot?
    Suggestion 1 - Add an emergency stop button in case you accidentally send a cargo pod on a collision course.
    Suggestion 2 - lock out middle/upper storage slots until all connectors below the chosen location are connected, probably using event controllers.... )which I think you may have hinted at near the end of the video.)
    I'm impressed with that whole setup so far though.

    The only criticism I have is that the Racks are in fact Stacks... If they were Racks you could Slide things in to position and load/unload any rack positon. As it is they are Stacks and you have to unload a stack to get to the middle or bottom container. Maybe add a horizontal Actuator and Rack Rails.

    Hey sir, I have thoroughly enjoyed your series. I am just a monkey pounding two rocks together compared to you. I am roughly 5 months old give or take a week. I have seen so many things and learned a LOT of what can be done in this game. I would like to ask if you would consider a tutorial series. Everything from your arsenal of knowledge. I have seen the airlock tutorials, however the valve was awesome! I had no idea that you can overfill an o2 tank. Do the o2 gens keep burning ice even though the hydro or oxygen tanks are full?
    I can use an event controller, timer blocks, rotors, hinges and pistons, barely. Enough to get me in trouble with lord Klang. You explain things very well and again, I hope you would consider some tutorials. On my computer, I am trying to make a concealed turret on the roof of a base. They would be concealed when not in use, but when an enemy is detected, they pop up handle business then recess back inside the roof.

    • @EngineeredCoffee
      @EngineeredCoffee  Месяц назад +1

      The h2 generators will stop if the tanks are full. But for an airlock you don't want a full tank. It needs empty space for the airlock to depressurize into. So the valve keeps the tank from getting to the 100%.
      I plan to do more tutorials. I will definitely add your suggestions to it. Still trying to figure out a format/flow.

    • @EngineeredCoffee
      @EngineeredCoffee  Месяц назад +1

      As for you turret idea. Start with the AI offense/defense block. It has a detect enemy with a setup actions. The 1st slot is enemy detected, 2nd is no longer detected. Create a deploy timer and a retract timer.
      I will use a simple example, I don't know your setup. Deploy timer = open door, extend piston, turn on turret. Retract timer = retract piston, turn off turret, close door.
      You may need additional timers and event controllers to not have the door close on the piston, but it's where I would start.
