The only way to get organic open world is to compete over recourses. Absolute W take. This is literally it. The need to balance the PvE to get good PvP AND THEN the need to find ways to implement the sandbox, life skill and PvE players that the can also at least enjoy the PvP a little bit with proper rewards and mechanics that will allow geard PvE players to slowly tap into PvP and allows them to find there way. I noticed that a lot of people who think PvP is the devil only think that way because the absolute can’t do PvP because the never had a chance with it.
@17:00 Back when BDO first came out if you bought the conqueror's pack you could play 1 week early. That first week to month the game came out was the most fun I have ever had playing ANY game in my life. There were CONSTANT fights breaking out EVERYWHERE. I remember pushing KURUTO cave HARD because at that point everyone was level 30 and that was the place to be. We could NOT fight so we would just try hard to out rotate the competing guild that was contesting with us, that grind from level 30-35 created so much tension between our guild that the SECOND we got level 50 and could pvp we perma decced them. They were KoS for MONTHS, and with no node war system or any end game pvp besides decs and flagging up, we would declare on guilds CONSTANTLY and had people ask to join our guild just because we were not afraid to fight anyone. In my opinion the game that existed then and with the early release of node wars was the most fun version of the game that will ever exist. Yes there were many toxic behaviors that came from this, however the base system was wonderful. PA could easily get back to this state if people wanted by reducing the number of channels that exist and making some sort of barrier to entry for marni's realms. Fuck this solo player MMO I want the old bdo back.
I always thought that the GvG was lacking because it only allow 10 people every half hour to participate and only in between an interval of few hours. This is not enough for a pvp-oriented guild that has 70+ players wanting to participate in gvg as much as possible. You're gonna what, allow each player 1 gvg match per day? But even then it might not be enough gvg matches. And what do they do now ? They remove it altogether for "reorganisation".
Tbf, i didn't enjoy when the open world pvp were at high because I had very limited time to play, I still have this limited time, but now i kinda miss it, the days when gahaz were absolutely crowded with ppl, every single rotation had a fight, every server had ppl fighting over a spot, gvgs everywere and sometimes full on open world gvgs over a spot, it was kinda magic, now it doesnt exist anymore, and whenever i miss this feeling, it is nowhere to find
I think the way how to do that arsha grind thing, would be to have it change at the start of every in game day randomly around, and instead of the trash loot value going up, it would be some extra item that has like 10mil value either to the vendor, or to avoid inflation, have it so people can exchange 10000 - 20000 of them for rare title. so either sell them for those who want to title if all you want is silver, or grind/buy them for yourself to get it.

At the end of the day, ALL pearl abyss has to do to make ANY content good, is make it worth doing even if its dog shit bad. If you make it where 1 hour of Guild League lands you 1b in resources, people would do it 100%. Even if they made it you get 1-2B silver in the new NW system, people would do it even tho they hate it. It all comes down to reward vs time spent.

As a player who grew up in a server wherein the top alliance not guild dominated siege and nw scene, this changes in NW provided us fresh start and equal footing when it comes to securing nodes. You will actually feel that guilds who got carried the entire time and acted as a meat shields play mediocre in pvp and it made you twice easier to win nodes. I just hope they change the last hit mechanics because it invalidates your guilds effort when some random striker, woosa or succ lahn last hits and gets the fort. While the guild declaration system prevented the strong builds from bullying the smaller guilds it just gave a better idea for players to grief other player when taking a spot from them since you can't just simply declare a war against them. all in all the pvp system became stale however, it opened new avenues for new players to experience the true end game content of bdo which is siege and node war. Hoping BDO would try to revamp the pvp content and improve the rewards since the benefits outweighs the amount of effort you need to prepare just to win nodes and siege. And also large scale pvp got only affected with the recent changes but you can't still change the fact that a newbie who has the same gear with a veteran player who played their class for thousand of hours would still make a large difference. disclaimer: I main shai with 1.4k eva with PEN Trina Battle axe, don't hate me, I'm just one of those psychopaths who enjoy other guilds losing their mind with a shai tanking an entire guild just to prevent me from destroying their annexes.
I honestly don't get PA. We are hungry for group content and they keep deleting mods they worked on for several months to leave us with nothing. I loved Savage Rift, it was a cool mod to take up with your mates to lose a couple hours on, even when there were non existant rewards.

My experience in BDO mimics WoW: It feels like a PvP game originally, but then you slowly realize the only PvP you've gotten over the years was just dickheads underestimating you. Anyone without a clear insane advantage steers clear. Likewise, the anti-PvP changes are for the vast majority of players that actually hate PvP - also just like WoW. They probably don't run multiple PvP content events because it would stretch the competent PvP community too thin. Queue times too long, etc. Like this game is... easily 80% PvP-haters. The changes aren't random or to spite PvPers. There's so much to say but this is already too long of a comment so Edit: Blue is right about fighting over the resources being key for world pvp to thrive, but again the problem is these people'd rather go back to Limsa Lominsa than have an internet confrontation in a competitive game. That's like a $800 session with their therapist to have to engage someone with their character in a game where all the characters are kind of bad people using sorta evil magic to get stronger and stuff.

As long as my Lahn still has her thighs and the DK keeps doing " DK Things " the game will never die for me Edit i also really like that resource idea temporary at each location when you started saying it my first thought was then it doesn't become 3B/hr anymore it becomes # of not deaths/hr x D but moving it is great, gives plenty of reason to actually build gear also makes room for improvement on the crystal system cause now you need a gem setup that can do both pve and pvp it really does make room for a lot of things to be improved upon.

You know what the 12 people “PVPing” spend 98% of their game time doing? PVE. Do you know why that is? Hint: the game is built around PVE content. There’s more than grinding. If the PVE content is not enjoyable for you, maybe find another game. The devs agree and and have been systematically(although too slowly) making changes to reduce griefing of PVE players by grieftards. They’re working on it. It’s just taking them awhile to arrive at a fully functioning proper fix for pvp which is its total removal. Can’t wait. Then they can focus on proper PVE content.

And also, i think everyone that says "omg but game is mostly PvE and PvE players", first, PvE only players are objective bad at the game and you should not listen to them, they wont PvE and get stronger to only do more PvE. Dont brign arguments like PoE or Diablo because those games, while being PvE only, have WAAAAY more and WAAAY deeper character customization and choices and items/skills combos you can try to keep the game interesting. BDO wasnt created with that in mind and now they are killing it. Game will die in the long term because they are killing the only reason to PvE = PvP. Stop being weak and delusional with this pve player bs.
Moreover, game doesnt have "huge potential" for PvE because its fundamentals, the mechanics of the combat and the class system. Game was MADE from the ground up to be PvP game, its engine, the combat, everything screa,ms PvP and u will never have PvE content not even close to the level of MMOs dungeons and raids because we cant have tank, healer, roles and the combat doesnt support that.
