    Nice video and beautiful water and countryside, some stunning looking fish! Interesting way of landing these fish by 'walking' them upriver, I assume to avoid them entering the fast water below. C&R not in play here I guess in some cases. Thank you for sharing

      Thanx. And you were absolutely right about the rapids below! Plus that there is a massive cliff blocking the way. I would much rather follow the fish 🎣 downstream. Some people C&R but it is not a must here. The rules are very strict and you are allowed to take just one fish per day. And since the salmon population is doing fine, I think thats great. Personally I almost never take more than one fish per season. I guess that’s because I do not catch so many anyway. 😅😂 And yeas I think C&R is important if the population is in danger. 👍🏻 Once again thanx for enjoying the video!!! It means a lot to me.😀

    You might try a weighted line or fly. Salmons eyes are made to look up so they will be very close to the bottom.

      I used float-int-sink3 +T16 +conehead tube-fly. Don’t need to get any deeper 😅. But thanks for the advice 😀🙏🏻

    Interesting to see my old home water, and Erling catching a salmon :)
    Me personally would like to have the video without the music, at least during the fish fights - always nice to hear the reel screaming and the water splashing (and maybe a few curse words now and then) ;)

    What rod and line setup is that? Awesome vid

    • @mariaandwolfi
      @mariaandwolfi  Год назад +1

      Guideline LPXe 17 ft 12-13 rod. Airflo
      Skagit F.I.S.T line.
      Erling Holmström, who according to Håkan Norling is Mr LPXe 17′ adds;
      The rod is easy to load and the action is felt right down the handle and it has a real kick through the whole blank. Airflo F.I.S.T 660 grain and the new 4D MultiTip with the 18 ft / 14gr tips are one of the best combinations for long casts with this cannon of a rod.

      I would probably buy this rod now if I would buy a new one. Erling Holmström was one off the designer’s.

      Erling is the one who caught the big salmon at the end of my video. I highly respect him as one of the best fly fishermen I have ever seen. 🙋🏻‍♂️
      Thanx for liking my video! It means a lot to me. 😀

      @@mariaandwolfi holy smokes 12-13wt?!?! You guys are nuts, I fish for King Salmon and Steelhead with a 7 and 8wt 13ft. I really want to try something in the 15/16ft range. Maybe a step down from yours 👍

    • @mariaandwolfi
      @mariaandwolfi  Год назад +1

      I completely forgot to mention that I only use this rod at Jockfall! It’s basically impossible to run after the salmon and therefore you have to hold it and almost drag it up to a safer place to land. It’s a bit hardcore I guess 😂. I would much rather prefer lighter gear. And I would love to fish 🎣 for steelhead one day. 😀

      @@mariaandwolfi when i used to fish the river Tay, which is a fairly big river, many years ago now, Throwing big flies and heavy Shooting head lines, i used an 18ft Hardy favourite, beast of a rod, could handle any line no problem. Was an awesome rod. Still have one in the loft. Not Salmon fished for a long while now. Thats a beast of a river you are fishing in this vid.
