- ਮਹਾਰਾਜਾ ਰਣਜੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ 1799 ’ਚ ਲਾਹੌਰ ਦੀ ਗੱਦੀ 'ਤੇ ਬੈਠੇ, ਪਰ ਦੋ ਸਾਲ ਬਾਅਦ 12 ਅਪ੍ਰੈਲ 1801 ਨੂੰ ਅਧਿਕਾਰਤ ਤੌਰ 'ਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਤਾਜਪੋਸ਼ੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਜਲਦੀ ਹੀ ਆਪਣੀ ਤਾਕਤ ਨੂੰ ਮਜ਼ਬੂਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਂਝੇ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਉੱਤੇ ਰਾਜ ਕੀਤਾ।
ਲਾਹੌਰ ਕਿਲ੍ਹੇ ਦੇ ਵਿਹੜੇ, ਜਿਸ ਤਖ਼ਤ ’ਤੇ ਉਹ ਰਹੇ, ਉੱਥੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮਾਨ ਵਿੱਚ 2019 ’ਚ ਇੱਕ ਬੁੱਤ ਦਾ ਉਦਘਾਟਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ। ਉਦੋਂ ਤੋਂ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਹੁਣ ਤੱਕ ਕੱਟੜਪੰਥੀਆਂ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਬੁੱਤ ਨੂੰ ਦੋ ਵਾਰ ਤੋੜਿਆ ਜਾ ਚੁੱਕਾ ਹੈ, ਦਾਅਵਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਮਹਾਰਾਜਾ ਰਣਜੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਮੁਸਲਮਾਨਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਤੀ ਜ਼ਾਲਮ ਸੀ।

Maharaja Ranjit Singh was the chief ruler of Punjab society, he did a lot for Punjab, but in today's time, Sikh Panth gives his example. It is impossible for a Maharaja to be born in a Sikh community like those who attacked Afghanistan. The state has become a state, he has done many things for the betterment of the country.

Of all the people in the government, Sardar Bahadar Maharaja Ranijt Singh valued the opinion of Faqir Azizuddin the most. Even on his deathbed, affected by paralysis and unable to speak, it was only Faqir sahb who could understand Maharaja. May be we should install a statue of Faqir Azizuddin sahb in Eastern Punjab.
