He was created as a metaphor for the atomic bombing in Japan and nuclear weaponry. It wasn't really till down the line of a bunch of Godzilla sequels, vs films, variations and role switching that Godzilla went from a force of nature to big monster that is sometimes good guy sometimes bad guy. even then in Japan, Godzilla still doesn't have a defined personality, just big monster that goes fight big monsters or wreaks stuff subconsciously. He is depicted a lot of the time to be a sympathetic creature, but that's is really it.

I like how they gave Kong human like behaviors, like how he's more of a down and dirty brawler when fighting. That axe grab mid-fight is fucking awesome

So I just saw this movie again at my local amc theater well me and my cousin did no joke we had a fun time even though we had seen it a lot before it was so awesome to experience this film on a movie theater screen again definitely a fun time in my life

This was the film that we all needed with COVID still going on at the time. Saw this opening weekend and man it felt good to be back in the theater seeing the 2 most iconic movie monsters going toe to toe on the big screen and it did not disappoint! This was like watching a prized title fight with both fighters using every tool, skill in their arsenal to win. Absolutely epic!
To this day i love how when kong tries to intimidate godzilla by slamming his fists onto the ground. When he did that its like i felt the pressure of his fists.

I grew up with Both of these Awesome Titans, watching all of their Movies from the original 1933 Fay Ray 's King Kong with the stop motion animation, to the original 1954 Godzilla. A lot of people don't realize it, but these two franchises influenced so much of the modern cinema we have today. Thoroughly enjoyed Legendary 's take on these Titans of Cinema
Back in March 2021 when the film came out, opening night, I paid the $150 that Cinemark wanted for a private screening just so I wouldn't have to deal with people when it came out.

I never understood why that ax to the face didn't cause any damage. We saw it could penetrate his flesh when I got it in his leg. Why would it not go through his eye or any over part of his head?
As grateful as I am for a "big budget hollywood effects" Godzilla film being made.... I wish this one had the tone and "weight" that Goji '14 had... it has the action figures in action feel to it, the level of destruction is massive in this scene but completely disconnected from everything... what I would give to see suit animation and miniature work done to current hollywood standards....
The human focused action scenes in g14 was a issue for fans though, when fans think of kaiju fights we think of the fights focusing on the kaiju like this. Not constant cutaways every 1 minute for the sake of a human perspective

If Garath Edwards was directing this film he would of cut to some boring human after the monsters roared at each other.
