For me it’s Hoffman, Dave Voelker, DMC, Mirra and Kevin Jones, in no particular order. Of course, stuff like this is super subjective and will always skew toward who you grew up on. Great lists!
Dennis McCoy should be 1 or 2 on this list, his career basically spans the entire history of freestyle BMX, and he has been a top performing pro for 4 decades. Bob Haro could be on the list solely for his influence as the originator of freestyle, but judging solely based on riding, Dennis McCoy is easily 1 or 2.
For me it's Mirra, Ramsdell, Nyquist, Hoffman, and Cranmer. I put Cranmer on there because he's actually done a lot to keep BMX alive. Before his accident he had a very aspirational style and reminded me a lot of Mirra.
I'm 49, rode between 83-88 and started in 2005. This list is very personal and in no real order. Stephen Hamilton Ian Schwartz Bob Haro Eddie Fiola Josh Bedford
Absolutely! I was a huge fan of Ian back then, myself. His riding really made freecoasters on street popular. Now everyone does it, but Ian was certainly one of the first. - Mike
@@chancecsmith Yup, I like those guys to along with Sean Burns( well he's into goth, deathrock and punk like me :) ),Nico Badet, Rory McLean and Dave Krone. Krone has pegs but does'nt use them 😀
Todd Lyons, Matt Hoffmann, Dennis McCoy, Mike Hoder, and of course Dave Mirra. Any order. Been on a BMX since '82 in phases. Everytime I ride again I have to build a new bike! They're simpler and stronger now.
Eddie Fiola, Dennis McCoy, Kevin Jones, Chris Day, Josh White, Martin Aparijo, Mike Dominguez, RL Osborn, Woody Itson, Rick Moliterno, Ron Wilkerson, Brian Blyther, Bob Haro,
Was about to say Dave Mirra better be on the list the last guy saved it. But should me: 1: Dave Mirra 2: Ryan Nyquist 3: Matt Hoffman 4: Scotty Cranmer 5: Dennis Enarson/ Garrett Reynolds
Very good list, a couple I didn’t expect. But with that said, when it came down to the last one I was thinking “alright Mike if you don’t say Mira 😠” 😂🙏
For me 1. Scotty Cranmer (got me into bmx his bike control used to be unreal with super technical lines) 2. Dave mirra (goat) , 3.matt Hoffman, 4 mike aiken (best style on a bmx in my opinion), 5 denis McCoy longest career in freestyle bmx highly inspiring to an old fart like me lol
I nailed michael's picks before the video started, derek's was harder to guess, but I was close... once we got to #2 and I hadn't heard Ross's name yet, I knew what #1 was.
Not a top 5, but Gonz and Troy McMurray influenced the brakeless movement. I was brakeless before that, but that was due to being a poor kid so when my brakes broke I ripped them off. They just made it cool.
I disagree kinda 100% with this i mean most influencial riders they at least should ride all disciplines to be honest. Allthough i completely like all riders mentioned. But please guys dont talk about Cranmer and Aitken that they rode... They might be The most influencial guys to show that there is a way back after all they had to go thru. 53 here. Maybe you should put Paul and Bart the Jong on a list too for their inspiration and creativity. One love, bmx for Life ❤
Dave mirra Ryan nyquest matt Hoffman Jamie Best wick how u can't have mirra and Hoffman in the top five shows u lot know nothing about growing up in bmx probably don't know what a super goose is or ever heard of one unreal if it wasn't for dave mirra pushing bmx into the tvs of peoples front rooms in early x games bmx wouldn't be no where near as big as it is now fact. Every kid had a haro 540 when we was young.
It was between Mirra and Hoffman for #1 for me. Mirra just hit home on a more personal level, but Hoffman for sure deserves to be on there. A true godfather of BMX. - Mike
For me it’s Hoffman, Dave Voelker, DMC, Mirra and Kevin Jones, in no particular order. Of course, stuff like this is super subjective and will always skew toward who you grew up on. Great lists!
I came here to say the same thing. Forgot Miron though, he did a lot of tricks years before other people.
Growing up DMC was probably the first rider I looked up to. Definitely deserves to be up there. - Mike
For me it's Mirra, Ramsdell, Nyquist, Hoffman, and Cranmer.
I put Cranmer on there because he's actually done a lot to keep BMX alive. Before his accident he had a very aspirational style and reminded me a lot of Mirra.
Edwin and van homan are who I looked up too back in 2005 when I was in highschool. Loves those guys.

Between Hamilton and Schwartz I was convinced long ago that pegs were just a gimmick. Now I look up to guys like trey jones and hoder.

No particular order: Mat Hoffman, Van Homan, Josh Stricker, Sean Burns, Taj Mihelich. Yeah, I'm late 30's...
Solid list for sure.
Matt Hoffman is always my number one.
It was between Matt and Mirra for #1. I picked Mirra on a more personal level, but Matt for sure is one of the godfathers.
This was an AWESOME video, by the way, and it's cool Dan's Comp creates these videos. 👍
Much appreciated!
I remember being a child reading my danscomp magazines! Danscomp and bmx just went down hill they had the best riders back in the day
Hoffman, taj, aitken, crandall, brian foster for me!
