For me it's the price I'm thinking get the Sony ZV-1 since it's more affordable compared to the Sony Zv-1 mark ii, and stabilization is better in Sony Zv-1 as you said.
I think I will finally get the ZV-1 for my wife as a birthday gift. She's not a geek like me that plays with camera 24/7 (sounds wrong lol). On serious side, maybe it's time to get her into filming something. Else I will be the one that film all the time and I am always the camera man behind the scene. ZV-1 it is.
Great video man! Still going to stick with the Sony ZV-1 for a while longer. I do my best to work around the 24mm lens. I enjoy being able to directly plug in the Sony ECM-XYST1M mic with the zv1 using the camera’s built-in hotshot adapter and absolutely love the audio it produces. I often vlog with it in themeparks and the active stabilization works well as I walk around so it’s disappointing the z1mii is a downgrade. I combat the battery issue by just carrying a bunch of charged batteries (they are pretty cheap for the most part). I also use an HLG picture profile 10 (HLG2) and edit final videos in LumaFusion for final HDR. Would be nice if the camera can produce 10-bit video. I’m sure they will continue to make incremental upgrades but agree that they should at least improve the video quality without taking features away. Great videos as always, thanks for the comparison!

@@cia9419 no, it’s not. I have an iPhone 14 Pro and a ZV1 and the footage is much better on the Sony. Now, there’s no question that a smartphone is more convenient…
Thanks for calling out Sony on the 480 fps and 960 fps mode removal! As you said, instead of taking it out, the logical move would be to improve the video quality of the super slow mo mode in terms of compression, aliasing/moire, and bit rate.
Btw high frame rate features in sony zv-1 Mark II still exist, i dont know why in this channel claims sony removing HFR in zv-1mark II. How dare you lie to your viewers?
Was holding off on buying a ZV-1 to see what the M2 was about. I want a compact travel camera that is lighter and attracts less attention than my A7SIII. Sooo no OIS, a stop less light (f4) and $150 more?! Um yeah - hard pass. Gonna order the original ZV-1 instead. Thanks for the honest review.
if it's for travel - aren't the easier charging capabilities (usb-c/more accessible battery door) quite important? the OIS in the ZV-1 wasn't all that great anyways, there's an extra stop for the built in ND filter as well so can shoot with a more pleasing shutter speed in brighter conditions -- they def compromised on some features but for travel would say they've made it better?
@@fleurvdelft I’d say having the extra 20mm reach of 50-70mm is probably more useful for a travel camera. The fact that Sony just dropped the price and the original ZV-1 is now $200 cheaper makes this a no-brainer for me. Original ZV-1 for sure.
i don't know why no company is making a compact camera with apsc sensor, 4k 60fps and gimbal like stabilisation. i was at least expecting 4k 60fps on the zv1 ii but not even that 😒
I'm actually picking up the ZV-1 in a few days. I had it before, then I sold it to get a higher end Sony camera. But, I've decided that I want a b-cam for my FX30. And, to be honest, I don't do a lot of vlogging. But, I want another camera that is inconspicuous and that I can grab and run out the door to get some quick shots. I don't worry about the battery door or tripod mount, because I have always recharged my batteries after each use. Along with carrying extra batteries. And for what I would use the ZV-1 for, I don't see myself running out of memory or power while shooting. And right now, you can get a ZV-1 in excellent condition for under $500 easily.
Random question: Can you still install third party wide angle lens adapters from the OG ZV-1 giving you a wider fov than 18mm on the ZV-1 II? Removal of the HFR mode is basically a dealbreaker for me especially with the price jump. They didn’t really “add” anything, they just swapped out the lens and moved the tripod mount and added a USB-C (which should’ve been on the OG ZV-1 in the first place). If anything, they removed stuff (HFR, OIS in the lens, hotshoe/mic capability, etc).
I use to own a Canon ixus camera mainly because of its daily digest feature (basically it takes a 3-ish second video everytime I take a photo and stitches the video together at the end of the day). Thought that is the best feature a vlogging camera could have because it basically let me enjoy my travels, take photo, and still have a good enough travel video at the end of the day. I'm not the type to narrate or speak in front of the camera so i was really hoping that something similar would be the innovation sorely missing in the zv series. Guess I'll wait for the next ZV 😅
I want a flip UP screen. Not flip OUT! When I see that innovation, I will upgrade from my ZV1! How is the M2 on the noise issue when zooming? Did they fix that?
I love my ZV1 for documenting my family and shooting talking head stuff. But for vlogging I use a pocket 3 or even my GoPro 12 (as long as light is good). Footage from pocket 3 and ZV1 are similar (in half decent light), that 1” sensor on both is pretty amazing. The Sony colors and autofocus is excellent and it’s also a great little stills camera. I can’t believe they took away optical stabilization and external mic on the MkII. That is awful. PS: I got a longer selfie stick on my ZV1 and it’s doable for vlogging.
I’m wanting to buy the ZV1 tomorrow while it’s on sale. How is the battery life?? I love my canon g7x but it’s broke and out of stock everywhere along with the mark ii. And the battery lasts so long on that one! And I love that the screen flips UP! So just wondering how battery life is on this Sony ZV1 :)
Btw high frame rate features in sony zv-1 Mark II still exist, i dont know why in this channel claims sony removing HFR in zv-1mark II. Did he lie to us?

The original Sony ZV-1 is the better purchase for me. Longer focal range and wider aperture. If you must have a wide angle view, you can just use a wide angle adapter on the ZV-1.

@@MindfulGrinds If you have the money, I would go with the fx30, because it has a fan, way better IBIS and better rolling shutter. I own the Zv-1 and ZV-E10 and tested the FX30 when it got released. The Z-V1 is an okay webcam, but in my opinion the best vlogging cam, because it‘s so small and light and for its size it has a superb quality. But the FX30 is a beast, ownly downside it can be quite noisy in low light. But with the 11mm 1.8 in combination it is great :)
@@MindfulGrinds the ZV-1 has its downsides too, the focal length is not really wide, but with the selfie stick from sony, it‘s really okay. And I use it often in Standard stabilization. It‘s not great, but better as the ZV-E10. Fuji just released the X-S20 with 4K60, 6K open gate 10bit for just 1300 Dollar, could be worth a look too. But the rolling shutter looked a lot like from the ZV-E10… So if I would have the money, I would get the FX30
One addition, you can get the ZV-1 in retail for under 350 bucks at the moment. That‘s why if I would be on a budget and want to shoot video, not vlogs, I would choose the ZV-1 over the ZV-E10 unless you got a small gimbal, but the rolling shutter will stay bad even with a gimbal
Great review... I really wish Sony would upgrade things that, MATTER. Why don't these manufacturers ever support 10bit HEVC. They still have old / slow bitrates, bitdepth, and old codec h.264. Makes it harder to use the log profiles. You cannot push the footage as hard... I have to shoot spot on which is hard in run and gun photoshoots... just makes my workflow much more difficult.. I don't see any reason to upgrade only to have same image quality my old one has... with only an upgraded microphone and wider shot... actually I carry a gopro for the wide shots, and use the ZV1 for broll so bit unnecessary to have the wider lens in my workflow. Hard to tell from review if there's much noise in the microphone. All my a6400 and ZV1 have terrible audio capture... too much noise / hiss in the recording. Additionally, I totally agree, the stabilization leaves a lot to be desired. I like that it's in body / hardware... but I think they should do a little more crop and implement a hybrid system w/ software and hardware stabilization. Would be AWESOME. I absolutely LOVE the stabilization GoPro did... why can they not do something as good? Additionally, voice controls would be great too... There's so much they could do to update these but they just keep selling same old stuff with different packaging and buttons. Silly in my opinion. One last grip... let us set shutter angle. Don't drop to 1/30 second on video when setting to auto ISO and shutter... and built in ND that does more than just 1 stop.
I have had the M2 for about a week now. I am really disappointed. The stabilization is so poor, I can not get acceptable walk and talk. I have to stand still with the camera on a mono-pod. For walk and talk I have to go back to my hero 10 with media mod and external mic. So I am going to carry 2 cameras until Sony can make a camera like the SV1-M2 with better stabilization
Fantastic breakdown! Ya that last line is the cut and dry easy way to explain it for sure! I was hoping for a little more so I could buy one and make content on it like crazy….oh well. Back to the drawling board lol 😅
I guess Sony forgot that they made the ZV1F for vloggers... I was really disappointed when I saw the specs of the MK II. Honestly it's a total downgrade from the original ZV 1 in my opinion.
I just dont get it. My 200$ 2018 Sony HX80 24mm has video stabilization but newest Sony cameras coming out to the market without video stabilization… and the price is 750-850$😂 Sony, come on, I need 15mm and optical VS for 300$ obo. Or it’s better to buy used iPhone. More portable, optical stabilization present, audio is perfect.
I use the zv1 to shoot my onlyfans scenes and it overheats within 10 minutes at 4K and shuts off. At 1080p it overheats at around 20-30 minutes then shuts off. I shoot my scenes straight through no breaks and in a normal room temp. Also can’t use it handheld since it’s so cropped in. Can’t wait to get my ZV1 mkII

One addition, you can get the ZV-1 in retail for under 350 bucks at the moment. That‘s why if I would be on a budget and want to shoot video, not vlogs, I would choose the ZV-1 over the ZV-E10 unless you got a small gimbal, but the rolling shutter will stay bad even with a gimbal
a camera without a flash?
You okay Jenna? 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Is just water Jenna, sheesh hahahahaha! Savage!
Also good for a simple travel photo camera?
Which one gets overheat fast when recording videos?
Does the sony ZV II has a flash?
No
Hi, thank you for the overview. can I connect Hollyland Wireless Lavalier Microphone to Sony ZV-1?
thanks
Yeah
Great info, now im looking for something good for car spotting😍
Thank you so much! I’m trying to learn as much as possible about cameras
ZV II can’t use digital mics? 😭 The internal mic isn’t nearly as good as the ECM-B1M.
This was the shocking part WTH
Thanks for your honesty and a very nice review❤
Im looking for a new camera for food videos, i think ill go for Zv-1. Great video btw
Fantastic breakdown! Ya that last line is the cut and dry easy way to explain it for sure! I was hoping for a little more so I could buy one and make content on it like crazy….oh well. Back to the drawling board lol 😅
Appreciate the honesty in this one. The way they removed some OG ZV features… com on!
Btw high frame rate features in sony zv-1 Mark II still exist, i dont know why in this channel claims sony removing HFR in zv-1mark II.
I guess Sony forgot that they made the ZV1F for vloggers... I was really disappointed when I saw the specs of the MK II. Honestly it's a total downgrade from the original ZV 1 in my opinion.
So you tested stabilisation, standing, still in a corner. Super. 🤦 🤦
Some people don’t have surgeon hands like yours Doctor
I’m sold 😊thanks Sid 💫
So its not having active connection for mic? Thats a bummer for all most 2x prise
Thanks for the review ! I was going to buy it... u made me rethink my decision :/
And then is there this terrible aputure Change vom f1.8 - f2.8 to f 1.8 to f.4.0
Very informative. Thanks.
Zv-1 best Detail
Спасибо.
For me, the ZV1F is the better ZV1-II haha
LOL WAIT THAT WAS JENNA EZARIK !~ hi ol' friend!
Sony always does this removal of experiment features thing, it's a trademark of theirs 😂
Btw high frame rate features in sony zv-1 Mark II still exist, i dont know why in this channel claims sony removing HFR in zv-1mark II.
@@Mr.Akbar22 so he;s talking abut the 960 freamse per second option on the original. this is the breakdown:

Sony ZV-1 mark 2: It can record up to 120fps in 1080p no HFR mode
Sony ZV-E10: Supports up to 120fps in 1080p. No High frame rate options
Sony ZV-1F: Records up to 120fps in 1080p but lacks 4K slow motion. no HFR mode
Sony ZV-E1: The most advanced in the series, capable of recording up to 4K at 120fps and Full HD at 240fps after a firmware update no HFR mode
I don't like the battery.
Worst update version ever. Streaming still 720p, lens more darker and removed lens stabilization. Never buy it!

Thank You!
M2 is a half upgrade ;)
Nice bro
There has come to you enlightenment from your Lord. So whoever will see does so for [the benefit of] his soul, and whoever is blind [does harm] against it. And [say], "I am not a guardian over you."
