I think I am uniquely qualified to judge this question as because I am completely unbiased as the WOT is my favourite ever series but words of radiance and way of kings are both 2 of my favourite books ever and without a doubt, way of kings is significantly better than eye of the world
This was VERY entertaining to watch. I really hope you guys get together for another book battle! Some things I was surprised wasn’t mentioned, such as Myrddral (WoT) or Thunderclasts (WoK). I think he was only mentioned very briefly in your discussion but one of my top favorite characters in WoK is Taravangian.
Taln never broke. Enjoyed the discussion. Stormlight will always have the edge for me as i have done multiple rereads and even the lowest ranked books of the cosmere are still enjoyable. I slogged through WoT to reach the end and ultimately enjoyed the series, but the first attempt at a reread died at book 5. I pushed through once to finish the series, but i just couldnt push through on a reread.
Great video. I think I enjoy EOTW a bit more but I also read it 10+years before I read TWOK. I think the pacing of TWOK hurts it for me and EOTW up until the end feels much more memorable
The Eye of the World was a store of untainted power. Rand doesn't reject that he's a channeler afterward. Instead, he decides to go lone wolf at the start of the next book. I don't know why it's confusing.
Probably a very unpopular opinion but Eye of the World for me personally, just loved it from prologue to finish, Way of Kings on the other hand didn’t convince me until probably halfway and I didn’t love it till the end. WOK definitely has the better ending but EOTW overall for me was the better book

Haha, if Mike wouldn’t cry always about his age, I would think he is that young to read WoT… I read it when Robert Jordan was finishing the last books. Actually met him. Now that was a wait after… And I read Elantris when it came out. And yes, we had doubts that he can finish WoT… even after Mistborn. As simple as that. This is how the world worked. He wasn’t the big Brandon Sanderson, he was the small one and he was suspicious. 😂 That’s for context. Always the context…. Today? Prob I would think differently.
1 of the best running jokes to me of the entire wheel of time is the way all 3 of the guys Think that the other men are better with women than they are When they all suck
i don't know anything about The eye of the World but i can say after 875 pages of The Way of Kings i put it down and never returned as it was just ongoing story that never came to any actual conclusion. Just obstacle after obstacle and i got to the point with Kings, that i couldn't care less what happens to these charachters and got the impression this was an excerise in word count and selling books.
@Seanac87 see I think while Jordan is very descriptive, Sanderson drags his plot along like a worn out dog. Every single SLA book could be at least a hundred pages shorter
I jumped into stormlight after heating so much hype and in really didn't enjoy way of kings, it was long and nothing happened until the end. Words of radiance though, had me hooked and I couldn't put it down.
My take on both is equal. Both bloated. After these, I am never starting another series that has more than 3 books. As to the topic, I prefer Stormlight, but only because WoT characters are insufferable. I think Jordan is way better writer, but his characters,,,ugh.
I really appreciate the invite! Thanks a ton for including me. This was a fun chat.
Next I venture into Randworld, I'll let you know 🫡
😮 Without a doubt more heart ♥️ for Robert Jordan!
Thank you for having me on. This was a blast!
Thanks for joining in 🙏🙏
This is too good haha. Four of my favourite booktubers debating two of my favourite books!
As a single book it's Way of Kings but for the series it's Wheel of Time. My top 2 favorite series and both are great starts to those series.

Taravangian! Yes, I also really enjoyed that character.

This is a pretty good concept for a discussion video.
I personally prefer everything about Robert Jordan's work, his writing, his characters, the pacing of his books.. they are just my cup of tea.

Way of Kings felt like such a kiddie book, I dunno man I wish I was a part of the hype train :/
They couldn't even desceibe the plot. It was like, "Er, bridge crew," and just name characters. Didn't describe plot or theme at all lol
More of a kiddie book than Eye of the World?

this video is awesome
Robert Jordan > Brandon Sanderson
Not even a debate
It talking about series just books: the way of kings is so so so so so so so much better than eye of the world it's not even close

Not to convert you to being a Wheel of Time fan but check Eye of the World out. It doesn’t ramble as much as Sanderson.
@Seanac87 i don’t think its as pointless, things happen throughout eye of the world.

Easy TWoK for me. I’m wayyy higher on it than you guys but each their own
At this point their is no point about worrying about spoilers...kinda dumb since these series have been out of years.
Sanderson really missed the mark when finishing Twot so his books are an easy pass for me
The world of the wheel of time is actually earth itself.
My take on both is equal. Both bloated. After these, I am never starting another series that has more than 3 books. As to the topic, I prefer Stormlight, but only because WoT characters are insufferable. I think Jordan is way better writer, but his characters,,,ugh.
Discussions like this make me realize how ridiculous these books actually are haha

it is, i was always hoping to see them on a live
