Thank you so very much for your videos. I prepared for my interview using your tips particularly on follow-up questions and behavioral questions and they were so impressed with my answers they hired me on the spot. I admittedly struggle in interviews and I believe your advice really helped me polish my presentation. I was able to land the dream job I have been waiting for for over 4 years. So thank you thank you thank you!!!! I cannot say enough good things about your resources!
I'd been trying to land a job for several months. I literally found your channel days before my interview and figured I'd give your techniques a try. BOOM! They offered me the position senior to the one I applied. I never write comments, but I had to say thank you. God Bless!
I've noticed that more employers are asking Behavioral questions and I've had difficulty putting my thoughts in order. Thanks for sharing the Experience + Learn=Grow methodology.
How To Answer Any Behavioral Interview Question = "Experience; Learn and Grow" = Great Stuff!! Work it Daily and coffee = the best breakfast or break time boost I have experienced!! Thanks so much !!
So I had a five person panel interview via phone and stumbled across this video a few hours before I had my call. This was really helpful with learning the tip to talk about situations and how growth occurred etc. My whole panel interview basically consisted of behavioral questions (for a leadership position) and the biggest help I found too was to jot down circumstances I have had in the past which allowed me to jog my memory and use the examples during the call. As the question was being asked, I would scan my 4 pages on notes I had spread out in front of me and hone in on the most appropriate one relevant to the question. It really put me at ease more and allowed me to expand on the example and talk about growth from it. I also made sure to thank everyone by name at the end and then send my follow-up thank you email. Overall it went really well so hopefully I will get an offer! If anything, just be sure to prepare for the interview ahead of time and make notes bc it is SO much easier to draw on relevant situations to answer the questions!
Thank you for the useful tips in your videos! I have recently been through three frustrating interviews with negative results due to these types of questions, now knowing clearly how I failed them. I haven't interviewed for a job in many years and I can understand better how things have changed with time and the new perspectives in the hiring department. It's sad though that a company would rely on behavioral answers rather than people being properly trained and having many years experience versus someone who has little to no training but can "fit the behavioral bill". In my field of work (20 + years experience transporting heavy equipment and cranes exceeding 200,000 lbs) that can get someone killed. Thank you again.
Wallace Rollins I feel your frustration! I’m in the process of applying for a new job after being with a company for almost 8 years. I was totally in the dark about doing a video interview, which I have to prepare for in a couple of days 😯 I had to do some research to see what the video interview details. Last time I did an interview it was face to face. I pray I have this...lol
I really like this video series. It's very direct, practical and not long winded. I have my phone interview next week and this has been a great prepping tool.

The WID model for answering behavioral interview questions is experience + learn = grow. I've seen this video multiple times and it's incredibly helpful!
8. Tell me about a difficult situation and how you overcame it? The situation that comes to mind would have to be at **** dealing with customers at least a few times a day we get people that are displeased with the service or have an ongoing issue that still has not been solved. The main thing I have learned from these situation is that when someone is unhappy the best thing to do is listen to them and acknowledge there problem. After listening and dealing with these situations over and over I learned that to make clients happy and solve their problem the obvious thing to do is find a solution, however, what I have found is that giving them options to pick from really helps because clients feel that they are in control of the outcome. This has really helped me overcome difficult clients and reduced the # of calls that are escalated. WHAT YA THINK???
Danial Ayub .....ooohhh thats a really good one. And being that actually does apply in the type of jobs I've had in past up to the current, I think im going to use this one. I like a lot. Thanks
Hi J.T. I want to thank you for clearing that up. I bet you ten to one odds that I have not been answering these correctly because I often let the answers come without really planning it out. LG
So far I have looked at 6 of your videos and have found them all very informative, insightful and most of all encouraging on how to move forward in my job search. I wish I had found you sooner. You actually make interviewing and job search feel fun and exciting something that it has never been for me in the past. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! I plan on watching all of your videos and recommending you to everyone I know or meet who is in the current job market.
I will be having a job interview today and I’ve been polishing up on the company’s history and stats. I’ve also been watching tons of videos on interviewing and what to wear etc. Thank you for sharing your wisdom and keep up the good work!!
Work It Daily I nailed the interview by the grace of God! They called me and set up a second interview on 12/10/18. Going to be going through your videos for help on that. Thanks and God bless!
Good advice. I watched it twice. Experience, Learn, and Grow is a great model. I've been doing the experience and learn part, but need to incorporate the grow.
Your videos are so "spot-on" and so very helpful. Your formula: experience, learn, and grow, is terrific. Following that process takes some of the fear out of doing well in an interview because it works regardless of the question. A fear of mine is the question that I have not prepared for but with the formula I should be able to provide a reasonably good answer.
Thank you so much for your videos. I actually had an Interview today where 3 of those questions were asked. I couldn’t shake my nerves and got in my own way rambling a little but I can’t say i wasn’t prepared with the help of your vids.
Not only adding the professionals related to the area you want to move, but also interact with them. As you said, build relationships isvery important!
I was taught to use the STAR format (situation, action, result) for resumes and for answering interview questions. They both seem to be similar in concepts.
9. What would your co-workers say about you if we asked them? My university and work experience has allowed me to work with a variety of different people over time. I think if you talk to my current or previous colleagues they would say that I am dependable, hardworking, dedicated, and positive. These are things I have learned over time and not qualities I always had. Also the list of these qualities is always growing and evolving as I become a better version of myself.
Honestly hating this contrived interview style that employers ask.. the question should go something like this.. “explain to me how well youve researched behavioural interview questions on the internet, guessed which ones we might ask and then how you came up with a few answers for each.. and then how you rehearsed them until they flowed well and seemed natural, even if they were completely made up. Tell us about that..”
I find J.T.'s experience hard to believe. I mean, she got yelled at then she calmly explained to the customer then the customer gave her a 4 star rating??!?! In the real world, maybe in mine, that customer wouldnt event bother yelping with a 4 star.
The idea is, you're suppose to give them an honest answer and not making them out. It just gives you the time to think through and figure out which experience you'd like to share 🤷🏽♀️
Instead of looking at it and thinking "hmm, I have to give a contrived answer", look at is as "what have I already done that could fit this style of answer?". Employers tend to follow a herd mentality and you can go to several interviews where the same questions come up again and again - which makes it easier to prepare. Remember, in the example question about "your greatest achievement", the answer wasn't "I cured cancer" or "I created artificial intelligence" - it was something quite basic but fundamental (i.e. I put myself in the customer's position and helped them sort out their problem and turned a negative situation into a positive one - this taught me that it's better to empathise with customers and not take their comments personally). It's showing that you are capable of adapting to situations and learning from your experiences - which often scores higher with prospective employers than a flashy "look at me, aren't I great?" answer.
I agree. Asking behavioral questions is so fake. It's just acting and following a script. It's a poor way to find a good candidate for a job, at least in my line of work.
Thank you, JT! This video was very informative and will be useful for me in my next interview. I see now that I have been answering these behavorial questions wrong. Going forward, I will apply the new approach!
My biggest mistake in preparing for interviews is that my STAR stories can take too long with so many details. I am learning from JT's example, how to shorten the story to get to the pertinent facts and focus on what steps I took to get that accomplishment and state what I learned from the experience to bring forward.
I agree. I like this version of EGL instead of STAR, because when you finally get down to results, you’re talking about the benefit for the other party versus how you learned and grew from the experience.
I just want to say that you have been very inspirational to me with your practical approach to C.V's and interview techniques. I went for an interview today that I really wanted and I got the job thanks to you. Deeply grateful JT for these words of wisom.
I subscribed, thank you. I'm interviewing for a pretty awesome position (2nd group interview) this Thursday, I've watched a few videos to brush up as I haven't interviewed in 3 years. I'm taking notes like crazy so I can remember these key tips. You're a GODSEND.
Your content has been so helpful to me when preparing for my interview. Especially during these times I want to be extremely prepared. My interview is tomorrow! 🤗
It is good to know to personalize the "why do you want to work here" letting them know a bit about you and to let them know that you know about the company and they you belong there
This question always perplexed me until I found it as a way to understand myself and identify an area that I needed to improve. My answer now is that I tend to over-commit and then my current projects suffer. My solution is that I maintain my calendar better and don't answer a request until I've checked my calendar and the status of my current commitments. What do you think?
I wished that I had found this video yesterday! I had an interview with these ? Types today and pretty sure I failed! Anyone else feel like they are being set up to fail for these question types?
Experience + learn = grow Describe a situation that suit the question , what was your feeling and how you react about it, + what was the consequences after that and what you learned ? = a great answer to the question
I have an interview tomorrow for a job post I have been preparing for 8 years now. Your videos are definitely just what I need to calm my nerves. Thank you! 👍🏼

I recommend to also review the STAR (Situation, Technique, Action, Results) technique. This is pretty much similar to the model that she is talking about. She is absolutely right, recruiters actually want you to answer questions following this model. Usually if you deviate from that, there is little chance they will call you back.
The video makes so much sense! I've been asked similar questions and stumbled through the answer. Now I will practice and learn to lead the interviewer into what may become productive for me. Thank you. I look forward to learning more and have subscribed to the channel.
Thank you so much for providing an answer, it helped so much. Just got an interview 3 days ago was asked that question. I didn't know what to say. If would be so helpful if you would have provided answers to all the questions not just the first one.
fantastic videos, thank you. I would add that job seekers need to add at least 2 answers to each of these questions ... you can get a sneaky interviewer who asks - right after you gave a perfect answer by the way - .."ok good, tell me another example":
I had a question that got me off track and the rest of the interview didn’t go so well. The question was about sense of urgency. He wasn’t talking directly about me...but I took it personal and it messed me up. I didn’t even ask questions! I may have an opportunity to interview for this same position again and after watching these videos I think I can make a huge improvement over my last interview. Things I think will improve my chances are being dressed for success and some of the tips you specified in the resume video!
Three interviewers asked similar questions regarding urgency. You are correct it can be a throw-off question. I try to prioritize and with this question I feel it is difficult to know the correct answer.
Then you must think quick on your feet. Meaning coming up with something so fast and make it sound good. I am not like that. I cant think quick when just making up a story I guess because as hard as this is to believe, I have a hard lying
The experience plus learn equals growth is great and it seems this question pops up on more interviews. More examples are needed though. one of the more difficult situations i have experienced has been applying for warehousing positions with dekalb and fulton counties in georgia. There are at least 12 behavior scenarios from work conflicts to crowning achievements. Worst still, that blank, lifeless expression on their faces. more examples are needed as in a battery of them for a variety of jobs.
I love the Experience + Learn = Grow. Easy way to remember how to tell your story! However, I have a question.... Because you never know WHICH behavioral question you will be asked, how can you think that fast on your feet? I seriously have been asked questions and I honestly cannot think of any particular story to tell that relates to the question!! HELP!!
Great knowledge and insight being offered on this channel! Your videos are definitely helping to prepare me and showing me what I need to be aware of during this process. What seems like such a daunting experience actually isn't meant to be!
The WID model for answering behavioral questions in an interview is, "Experience + Learn = Grow." Essentially, you walk the interviewers through an experience, discuss what you learned and the describe how you grew from there.
I have issues remembering those situations when I'm in an interview. What if you didn't experience anything difficult or too challenging and don't really have an answer to their questions?
Jasmine Vardy I'm about to have my second interview ever and so young but actually good question but I would explain what would I do if I were to have that

Three interviewers asked similar questions regarding urgency. You are correct it can be a throw-off question. I try to prioritize and with this question I feel it is difficult to know the correct answer.
Excellent, I only wish I had it for my last two interviews, phone interviews, something I never do very well. Anyway, thank-you for the advice!
Wonderful tips 👍🏽
Thank you for making this video. This advice/format has a more natural flow to me than the STAR approach. Very useful!
I used to just make stuff up. It worked.
Then you must think quick on your feet. Meaning coming up with something so fast and make it sound good. I am not like that. I cant think quick when just making up a story I guess because as hard as this is to believe, I have a hard lying
Great video! Thanks for helping me pass my interview.. I feel like it saved my but at my last interview!!
'Learn from others mistakes' and 'own experience.'
HELP!!
Same! The question about what your previous coworker would say about you? Well, that's not gonna be a pretty story to hear....
Thank you J.T. for the great advice!
Great knowledge and insight being offered on this channel! Your videos are definitely helping to prepare me and showing me what I need to be aware of during this process. What seems like such a daunting experience actually isn't meant to be!
The WID Model: Experience + Learn and Grow Model!!!
Loved it. Thank you.
Experience + Learn = Grow Model, thank you!
Great tips! The information you provide is so relevant.
Thank you so much, for this very helpful video!!
The WID model for answering behavioral questions in an interview is, "Experience + Learn = Grow." Essentially, you walk the interviewers through an experience, discuss what you learned and the describe how you grew from there.
Experience + Learn and Grow Model.
I love your channel! You always share valuable content, thank you!
Another awesome video... thank you!!!
another fantastic video from you!! thank you!!
Experience + Learn = Grow is the WID Model
I have issues remembering those situations when I'm in an interview. What if you didn't experience anything difficult or too challenging and don't really have an answer to their questions?
Jasmine Vardy I'm about to have my second interview ever and so young but actually good question but I would explain what would I do if I were to have that
Joe Anderson if you're talking to me then you're wrong I got the job lol
What a great advice!
This really helped me break down how to answer these questions!!
