That was great advice! Thank you so much! I was going crazy with all the choices out there and I have small band. I started to think I’ll just use my iPhone but I do need it for other things. Going to purchase that camera. Good health and blessings to you.

Great video!! What are you using for the audio??

Thanks for the video. But is it true that the camera has a video recording limit of 30 minutes? If so, how can it be a good camera for gig recordings!? I'm looking for a camera that I can just put on a tripod, start recording and play a 2-hour show without worring about the camera stopping some time in the middle of the gig.

Yeah, me too dude. I had a GoPro and it was pretty good and didn't over heat, then on a gig, it got stolen. I replaced it with the Insta 360. It overheats and I lose my video. Yep, I totally want a camera that I can set and forget for a couple of hours without overheating. On the upside, it will allow me to plug into AC with the battery in the unit.

Thanks so much for this specialized information. Almost all the recent concert videos on my channel were filmed with Canon Vixia 800's, this looks like an upgrade in several ways!

Do you have any solution for the 30 min limit?
We need at least 2h. You don't want to drop the instrument in the middle of the concert to go and check the camera.

Can this work with zoom h2n? Looking for a good camera & mic to make videos for sound therapy. Thanks

I'll ask the same question as Eric......how about the recording of the audio? I understand that this camera is great for the videos/pictures of your gig. However, sometimes live sound recording doesn't sound too great on cameras/phones that are more aimed toward visual quality rather than audio quality - it can sound very 'thin'. Are you just using the live audio from this M50, or do you recommend a live sound recorder?

There are several options for recording audio. What I do with my band is, since our sound guy uses a Behringer X32 sound console, I run a USB cable from the console to my laptop and multitrack record everything. This is an easy solution and the tracks can later be mixed in the studio and synced with the video.
Also, most modern sound consoles are capable of recording a stereo mix of sound on a simple USB flash drive.
If these aren't an option, I recommend getting something like a Zoom H6 recorder to record your audio directly from your sound console.

@@TerenceFisher1 thank you for your help Terance. I thought it might be something along those lines. Looks like I'm going to need to get a degree in IT 🤣. It's a pity there's nothing simple out there that records a decent live sound (something that picks up what it really sounds like without being mixed later or needing to be plugged into a desk) . I'm a solo acoustic musician, so don't usually use a mixing desk. My PA is simple and effective.

@@weezylistening Perhaps you should be looking at a Tascam DR-70D. Has some built-in mics for a 'quick & dirty" setup .. but you can plug 4 proper mics into it to help capture the best "off the floor" sound.

Might be a great camera, but it doesn't check all of the boxes. If you're playing a three hour gig which includes two one hour and fifteen minute sets, the thirty minute shut off limit is a deal breaker. That's what we've been up against with my Rebel which is also a fantastic camera with a solid built in mic. Starting our search for the best actual video camera, not a dslr.

Where do you place the camera:
    a. On stage for a side view
    b. Out front by itself
    c. Bye the technician

This depends on the type of shot you want to get. Any of these work/ The only thing I would say is if you are trying to get your entire band in the frame, use as wide of a shot as possible.
