Lol I started off learning Cerner as a new grad, I was always perplexed why people complain ones about it cause it wasn’t that hard to learn 🤧 but after using Epic I realize cerner just makes you document some of the most unnecessary stuff and it’s just so time consuming.
I study information systems and I really dont understand why clinical software is set up that way. How can hospitals work with this? I cannot imagine that a person actually knows what all the buttons and fields do.
Intriguing as I'm a nurse who is trained in EPIC, and SCM. I compared them to what you showed so far. I imagine its helpful to know Cerner should I venture into Nursing Informatics work. Thank you.
PowerChart (version: 2011). This video is 2017 and we're still using this dreadfully designed software in 2019. Cerner needs to employ an expert in UX & UI design. Poor design costs lives.
@@chancelynwalker3007 because it is!! If you used Epic before, and going to Cerner, you will hate Cerner. Even if you use Cerner first and going to Epic, 8 times out 10, you'll like Epic more.
Yes, my employer started using this software a month ago, it is horrible, especially if you were using Epic before. Eventually we will know how to use it, but just so many unnecessary things
I’m devasted that my hospital is switching from Epic to Cerner… does Cerner have a search option once you’re in the patient’s chart? For example, Can I type the word “discharge” and gave every note with that word pop up?
Yes, there's a feature called Chart Search. What features your health system uses depends on what they've purchased and how it has been configured. The option exists, though.
@@youtubegirl149 The health systems I've worked with haven't used it, even though it's available. If you have it enabled, it'll likely be in the upper right of an MPage, under the Refresh button. You could consider submitting a help ticket within your organization to see if the feature could be considered. There are other features used for medical records management and reporting but only relevant to limited roles.
The simplest way is by adjusting your screen resolution. Some aspects of the application can be changed, like font size in Interactive View. Most cannot, though.
I dread going to work and I've only been there a week. All because of this horrific Computer system!!! It's terrible! I much rather use EPIC!!! This Cerner program is making me sick thinking about it. Terrible, horrible, awful!
I'm starting g a job soon that has this, vtravel assignment, id love to get ahead of the game... any other trading videos? The screen/font here is way too small.
I work in Health information management, night shift. My main duties are releasing information and scanning in discharge paperwork through batch manager and validation apps. Are there any training videos for this job specifically? An issue I recently had was trying to date change a document for a physician, the document had already been scanned in. Is there a video showing how to edit the date and the time a document was scanned in? Are there any training books available? Training Videos for Health Information Management would be helpful. As it is our training is a learn as you go without any real structure to it and I would love to learn more.
I'm also in Health Information Management. We jadopted Cerner 8-mths ago. Yes, it is horrible. I'm still learning the functionality of it. I've discovered another way to modify a document. Use the 'Add Documentation' menu, choose 'Dynamic Document' and select 'Free Text'. You then copy/paste the original document, use it as a template onto the new blank canvas. I think there's a youtube video on this. Search for 'dynamic documentation'. Good luck!
Cerner is terrible bc it's at least 3 ways to do a task and this makes it messy and complicated. Whoever devised this program did not have the slightest idea nurses responsibilities. In short we need nurses to make programs for nursing. Whoever these people are they were only flexing because it doesn't make sense to make charting this difficult 😑
Does anyone knows where to find a video with the explanations of how to input flu shot information , activate labs and etc etc please , I’m new in Arizona where they’re using Cerner I came from epic and completely lost here HELP please
I did a travel assignment that used epic.. when they asked me to stay on... I declined, I didn't tell them it was because of their software/charting program but technology has killed my joy for nursing.. and realize even If I do go on to get t NP or PA.. I'll still be required to use a computer and will go into gardening.
Cerner is an awful system. It makes nursing much more difficult. Epic and other systems are intuitive. When I go to hospitals with Cerner, it is a general concensus that cerner is a huge challenge. This video isn't helpful because I can not enlarge to see. I am trying to get geared up to head to another Cerner charting system. 😢
Looks like a very slow software. Not optimized at all.... This is what happens when you have Programmers and incompetent Healthcare workers build a program...
I doubt very seriously that a healthcare workers did this. That's why this program is terrible. Do you honestly think we would try to make our job more difficult? Think about that!!
Thank you for taking your time (for free) to create these videos!
I used Epic and getting to learn this outdated systems is crazy to me.
Say that again!! Cerner is horrible, they make it complicated for no reason.
Wow. I’m so glad my place uses epic
I've looked through several videos just trying to find how to update ROI'S. No help whatsoever! This is nuts! No videos available!
Totally agree!!! My place was using Epic, and recently started using Cerner 😤😤. Cerner is horrible

Epic and sunquest are great!!
Well said!!! We were using Epic, then recently changed to Cerner 😤😤. Horrible, as you said, it's complicated, so much unnecessary stuff.
Are there any helpful Cerner videos that can easily be seen? It only reminds me of how challenging this system is.
I used cprs and actually fell in love with it after really getting my system down pat. I’m sure this is at least a step up from that

@@rcpetty16 just out of curiosity... Why do clinicians use this system (as well as other poor designed systems) if it's known to be bad?
@@jondhanapala Yup, A lot of clinicians wont want to switch as they're so used to this now
@@jondhanapala Most clinicians don't get to choose the EMR they use, that decision is made by the hospital or health system admin.
Really? Have you guys witnessed the atrocity that is Meditech? Please. Epic is the easiest system I've used, but ill take cerner any day over Meditech
Please do you have a video of how to design and build Custom mPages and Advisors within the Oracle Cerner application?
This is by far the best system I have ever worked with or seen. Way to go Cerner.

Cerner needs to automatically refresh instead of refreshing every 2 seconds
Some Cerner applications refresh in real time automatically. Others can be set to refresh automatically at specified intervals.
