On the one hand having digitized patient records is huuuuuuuuuuge improvement, but this software is woefully inadequate for everyday medicine exactly because it focusses the physician on using the horribly designed software instead of focussing on the patient. This software is specifically designed for BILLING; it was designed by accountants and software idiots with taking into account the way medicine is practiced. It's being rolled out now and if I was a patient I would definitely ASK if they are using at your hospital BEFORE you go there.
Is there enough on that screen and after clicking here, there, everywhere, is there any time to talk to, examine and get to know your patient. I think not! What a crock of shit! If you are a patient and you like seeing the back of your doctor while s/he makes sure the record is documented just right (and incidentally for his/her own money making benefit, not for your well being) then by all means seek a "latest and greatest" technologically chocking practice. Otherwise see your local, friendly, independent physician that is less concerned with reimbursement, medical records, and technology, and more interested in your well being and improving your health.
Thank you.

If that is the perception of your patient, then you have terrible bedside manners. A good clinician never hides behind a computer, a pen, or a chart.
+K Mouser That was sarcasm, probably by a clinician complaining about how most computerized system do not allow for better bedside manner.
