  • After a long day, and month of surf fishing across New Jersey, I tried my luck on the local flats to target one of my favorite spring run species, the gator bluefish.

    I switch out the treble hooks with singles on all my bluefish poppers, etc. Much easier to release and it won’t effect the hook ups.

    Gotta give it to you, you definitely put in the time to fish the waters and make sure you cover a lot of ground. Good stuff..glad you avoided the skunk.

    What’s the app you use for water depth?

    • @joegrande4848
      @joegrande4848 17 дней назад

      Navionics. They charge for it. I had the app then discontinued using it. Only app I use is pertaining to local tides. That's all I use and I do ok. I move after 10 minutes no bites. After 3 attempt I'll change rigs and lures.

    • @joegrande4848
      @joegrande4848 17 дней назад

      The app for tides is free. Just move after 10 minutes. Bring 4 rods. Throw 1 close midpoint and then far. Keeping rods a descent distance apart. Use the 4th rod to locate fish. You can use a spinner swim jig crappie jig. Good luck

    From my experience, even though you were catching you’re working that Tsunami Talking Popper too fast. You’re working it more like a pencil popper. Next time, try giving it 2-3 hard pops then let it sit for anywhere from 3-10 second, reel in slack and repeat. You’ll be surprised on just how hits you get when the popper is just resting/sitting on the surface.

    It's the navionics app. They used to offer a free version. Not sure if they still do. But if you're just learning about this app now you're behind the 8-ball lol.

      @@dillonfishing I use tons of Tsunami tackle; rods, reels, pliers, plugs and never really had any complaints. I’m good friends with a Tsunami Rep and always tell him how impressed I am with their products. Just picked up a few of their new Tidal Poppers this morning. If you ever fished a Smack-It Popper than you’ll like these.
