Steve is such a stand up guy to fly all the way to Texas with a bunch of parts to potentially fix Mullet and even though he didn't need to he's still going to fly to Florida to pit new bearings in it

A tip from someone who has bracket raced extensively with a car 1sec faster than the bracket. Letting out for a bit after the 60 foot then running it out to the opponent and sticking the nose infront of them is the easier way to go with races like this, not going to say its easy, but it is easier to see how far you are ahead when you're coming from behind. Just in case you are ever in that position ever again 👌

Yep, i usually just drag the brakes mid pass and ride it out the back but im usually .5 faster all out so not as hard to do as a second but i still have the nitrous armed just in case i need that little bump to stick the nose out and its saved me a couple times lol
Not to sound rude, but that sounds like you learned that with a vehicle that you became familiar with. These are all relatively new builds...In their defense.
Or be a man and do it for dale. You can still win without getting the trophy by being the fastest car regardless of the stupid classes

I’m still blown away the team put Mullet together in less than a week!!
Seems they paid for it by stuff not being quite as prepared because they were so focused on the SMX install.
@@eterlizzi what more could have they done to be more prepared? They were prepared as they could be. If they didn't put the new engine in mullet they wouldn't have been able to run it at all. Sometimes you get a bad run, it's racing & it's just part of the game.If it wasn't for the first day being canceled they would have got the regular 5 qualifying runs instead of 2 and they would have had the chance to get a better run & qualify in the bracket the cars were intended for.
@@gmula1987 they simply should have done more tests at bradenton, no matter when, if i owned a drag strip like cleetus i would test my car at 4 am also. the team was spot on with the construction but bad decisions were taken from cleetus tbh. make 10-20 passes at bradenton, collect all the datas for traction control and so on, then go to texas. you cant go to a competition with no data, thats what happens. i feel sorry for steve morris and pete tbh
@@robertofilone131 They're probably not allowed to test at 4am. There's such a thing as noise ordinances. Not to mention they were up until like 6am putting the SMX in.
@@robertofilone131 Testing at Bradenton won't help too much. Bradenton has like the best prepped track in the country, while Houston Raceway has pretty terrible prep in comparison. Mullets first qualifying run was ruined because he accidentally turned off the boost control, no testing will fix that it was just a dumb mistake. The second run was ruined because of oil or water on track, a bunch of guys were losing traction all the way down the track.
Also Cleetus doesn't own a drag strip, they have to rent Bradenton to test cars and I doubt they can do that in the middle of the night.
