Wow! How fun! I've never seen different disciplines of dance performed together like this. What a unique and clever way to show off the differences and similarities in style!
I can see the differences, but I can mostly HEAR the difference between the "normal" tap dance and the clogging. Someone told me once that cloggers have metallic plates attached to their shoes, and I can hear that in contrast to "normal" tap. All three styles are awesome!
the cloggers were my favorite they Definately look like they are having the most fun and they didn't look all stiff and uptight or out of step with each other. their sound was distinct and fun.
The first season of So You Think You Can Dance, there was a clogger. The judges had no idea what it was and thought the person was trying to do tap dancing, but wasn't really doing it. That made me realize the judges were restricted in their view about dance and were going to exclude any chance to dancers who did not conform to their narrow outlook. They of course rejected the clog dancer. It would have been understandable if they gave advertisements, on what they actually were looking for, instead of asking people to open auditions, which wasted the time of dancers of different styles.
@@alanguages ughhh so you think you can dance was about finding the best overall dancer. Usually they would jave unorthodox dancers go to the dance in trials at the end of regular auditions of the day to see if they went to vegas.
@@pennydropper6875 They weren't looking for the best overall dancers. They were looking for specific type of people, that could dance the styles the judges knew. Seriously, they had no idea what clog dancing was and thought the girl was trying to do some sort of tap dancing, but wasn't sure exactly.
@@pennydropper6875 Only genres the judges knew about, which they could market. It was a cookie cutter type of auditions. Anything outside of their knowledge, they did not want to even consider. That is how American Idol is also. Only specific type of songs and music genres they want for marketing reasons. Wow wow wow wow that was awesome brought tears to my eyes all this performance does not happen easily and I know it takes a lot of practice thank you guys for putting in the time effort and thank you for having the talent and God bless you all
I like how each group shows their style of dance, but I Love how they come together and show their unity! How I wish, hope and pray that people would do the same! We are all unique persons, family, tribes, and color. Yet we are all humans and can unite in America to celebrate what our constitution affords. We can go on then to Bless other nations!
Clogging is traditionally an Irish/Scottish/British dance. It was just immigrants passing it on were influenced by Native American and Slave dancing styles.
This is so great! I keep getting goosebumps! Still can’t distinguish tap from clogging, but as I told my friend: “Clogging is like Irish dancing but more arms and loser pounding.” lol. (I don’t know much about either but this video helped a lot!) Thanks for posting! 🙌
Cool comparison video. If you've watched advanced Irish dancing they seem to have a wider variety and range of movements compared to the other two. Tappers swing their legs and bodies forward and back, Irish dancers criss cross their legs with a straight posture and cloggers tend to lift their knees up with an upright posture.
I like the Irish because they don't move their arms. Tapping flails a lot. Clogging half flails. Irish is like nope, not today satan. Arms ain't movin'.
I think cloggers aren't supposed to move their arms, though. I think the guys hold one arm bent in front of their midsection. These aren't professionals, I think.
Clogging is amazing and so is Irish Step. My girls clog and are amazing, my cousins are Irish Step dancers and my cousin just won first at the world clogging championship. I was a tap dancer and clogging is way harder
clogging, because its a dance anyone can do at anyone's house. roll up the rugs, break out the mountain dew and banjos and fiddles, have yourself a time. all of which were imported from ireland a few hundred years ago.
I love them all. But I must admit that I love the green Irish clover best. They just look at look more fluid and clean. Just my opinion. They all had fun and is a credit to the art. 💖💖💖
I do not see how clogging and tap did not come from Irish dance yet experts have said there is no connexion. I am very glad to see this video. I have done Celtic dance years ago before River Dance made everything a lot more complicated.
Tap isn't even even in the competition lol. I've done tap and clogging and clogging is way more difficult, and I've heard Irish step is as well. But clogging is always going to be my favorite but that's just because it's part of my southern culture and heritage lol
Everyone needs to remember that dance is an expressive art form for all individuals. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions. No one's opinion is right or wrong. I am also a fellow dancer of other dance forms including tap. However, I respect all dance forms and have always wanted to learn clogging and Irish step. Remember that dance evolves from expressions of cultures and can also be away for different cultures to learn about other cultures.
I like them all, I am an irish dancer but I kind of wish the irish did some more advanced steps here then they would of have won I reckon but all of them are so talented. 😊
This was really good/impressive. What brought this great performance down to me was the Lack of Excitment and Energy from the Audience. Very moderate standard cheering and applause. This should have been a Standing Ovation.
I would give it to the Irish step because it was more coordinated and unified making an overall smoother and more powerful sound. Tap gave a happy but all over the place sound while clogging was competitive but a little off sync
I think you must not know clogging to say they were out of sync. The Irish were out if syc and definitely tap. Clogging has 8 taps on their shoes so you head a more complex sound.
@@romishafranks I don't know anything about any of it and haven't watched any more videos on it since I posted this but out of respect for their teamwork I just spoke on who looked more coordinated. I will say the others had more character which probably made being coordinated a little harder
We are a clogging family. We've unashamedly stole steps from tappers and step dancers. We will integrate and use anything we can to give a great performance!
I like the tap the best as a form of dance art, because it is exciting and uses the whole body. I think the Irish step dancing requires more skill and precision and can have more power moves, but there are relatively few kinds of moves, compared to tap. Clog dance is very energetic, simple, can be more easily done by groups, so I'm guessing that's why it was so popular among regular people who weren't trained dancers. Fun to do at gatherings & such. I love them all.
The clogging drowned out the tap an Irish dancing. I prefer tap. The great tap dancers can get the same number of taps as those who clog without having to add extra taps to their shoe.
I'm not sure you can call it the hardest. I personally consider Irish harder, becasue it doesnt allow for the natural body movement that comes with the stepping, and because there are irish hardship moves that dont appear in tap that are amazingly ard to do without stepping on your own toes... (but im a dancer so I'm bias) however, I can't say Irish is the hardest ever, because there are other difficult styles (ballet for example).
Actually,Id have to disagree. I irish dance, and it is very difficult. What your seeing here is a hardshoe round, and it's not really specific. but if u look up hornpipes or reels,u will be amazed. it takes amazing strength to jump that high. I'm not disagreeing with u,by the way
Wow! How fun! I've never seen different disciplines of dance performed together like this. What a unique and clever way to show off the differences and similarities in style!
I absolutely love direct comparisons like this
now I can finally see the difference when they are side by side. awesome job guys
I can see the differences, but I can mostly HEAR the difference between the "normal" tap dance and the clogging. Someone told me once that cloggers have metallic plates attached to their shoes, and I can hear that in contrast to "normal" tap. All three styles are awesome!
I'd say Irish won for grace, clogging for power, and tap for creativity
I agree!
Agreed
You just described characteristics of their styles
@@3jami :: Pounding the Floor is Clogging. No Beat!

I have to say it, these guys are fantastic!!! The Geico commercial brought me here :-)
They are all as brilliant as each other. Except the Irish who were best.
Fairly Vague YAS
I think tap is best
*its my opinion don’t war on me*

I don't think tap dancers shouldn't be flailing their arms. If they are, it's probably just that they need to work on that skill

Irish Step is my bet

#1 - Irish Step
#2 - Tap
#3 - Clogging

I'm glad I'm not judging this. They are equally talented.
I love this. I've been wondering the difference between these three dance myself.
Ancestors are from Ireland, danced to music all my life!
Looks like you added a bit of Bavarian Schuplatteln to perfect it all 😉 Very nice to compare the three, thank you!
Because the Irish step dancers hold their arms down together - the overall look is cleaner vs the cloggers whose arms are moving randomly.
I think cloggers aren't supposed to move their arms, though. I think the guys hold one arm bent in front of their midsection. These aren't professionals, I think.
