  • Have you ever wondered what the difference between tap, clogging, and Irish hard shoe dance is? Wonder no longer!
*Update: Just thought I'd provide a bit more info. In the video, I included what I think are the most basic steps for each type of dance but I failed to mention what those steps are called. (I made this video for a class, late at night, so you got to forgive me for not simply saying it the first time!)
    The Basics:
Tap: shuffle, ball change (when you transfer your weight from one foot to the other, usually back to front)
Clogging: single basic/step (comparable to a shuffle with a drag slide), double step (a single on each foot), rock step (aka ball change in tap)
Hard Shoe: treble (like a shuffle in tap), heel clicks (literally clicking your heels)
--My percussive technique is mediocre at best! Go watch some pros to see what it is meant to look like! (Tyler Schwartz Dance has some awesome instructional Irish videos. And there are a kazillion amazing tap and clogging videos out there too.)
