Shashi Tharoor, being a Muslim from Pakistan, I like your goodself very much If People ,broad minded like you and me ,are there, world will become depolarised and a good and secure place to live.
This man has got wisdom. He is in his 60s and maybe only got a public life of 10-15 years left. Wish he gets what he truly deserves.
Even if he lives for 50 more years, the modern Gandhi's will always be the leaders of Congress
Long live Sir

A very fruitful interview! It is hard to think of another MP in our country to take on any one for an offhand interview like this.
Besides Shashi Tharoor masterclass, Seema is awesome with her command in English and questions. Enjoyed the talk.
I loved the way he uncovered our paradoxes without his party or political compulsions. Why can't RAGA learn this when he travels abroad? We as a country are loosing an excellent statesman whose party is not acknowledging his importance. God bless you Shashi Ji.
Weapon of Mass Distraction- what a great term!
I love this human being. God bless him
The interviewer is one of the few Indians I have come across who is able to rival Shashi ji's wonderful command of the English language.
So what's so extraordinary about English except that it's simple to use & like most European languages has Indian origins??!!
I couldn't agree more. English has a hideous syntax, gets all its fancy words from French, and has no identity really. It is so sad that Indians worship this language. It's fine if Indians want to learn English just like Germans and Persians do, fine, but Indians actually worship English. It's pathetic.@@rka-truthalwayswins5127

Very good interview. Mr. Sashi Tharror command on politics.
Tolerance and Pluralism is the essence of the Indian Culture and Ethos, since time immemorial ! The sequence of events in the lndian History will amply testify to this historical fact ! It's also the very premise, upon which the Indian constitution was framed ! Bereft of it, India will lose its soul ! That's what the great Swami Vivekanandji had so meticulously articulated in the World Meet on Religions held in Chicago, USA in the year 1893, amid thunderous applause from the delegates gathered there from across the globe !
Nice way to allege your opinions. At least you aren't being abusive.
@varun2250,
Hello, 'allege your opinion' !
How do you do !
I am very highly amused !
It seems - someone, who has lost the morale courage to speak directly, now finds it expedient to indulge in a soliloquy, instead - completely out of context ! How disgusting it looks !
Have I mentioned anyone, any religion, or any political party in my narrative, herein above ! It's a figment of imagination of someone's mind ! The answer is very much implicit in the narrative, itself ! What's absolutely required is - proper application of mind ! However, it's an altogether different issue, if someone feigns ignorance intentionally ! How right was the great Lao Tzu in his assessment in saying - "The truth is not always beautiful nor beautiful words the truth !"
Let it be known that I don't hold a brief for anyone and the least of all, a political party ! May someone hold it for others !
To get optimum satisfaction as also to ascribe some semblance of authenticity to it, why don't someone put this question to one's own conscience ! Because, conscience never lies ; provided, ofcourse, someone has any !
@@amarendraborah6941 Fair enough. But it would be hypocritical if you won't hold yourself of these above statements that you expect of others. Not that I'm saying you currently don't hold yourself to these values. I just don't have a way of knowing it.
Also, thank you for alleging your opinion and thank you for the word salad part of your comment that somehow got generated for stating my opinion.
@@varun2250
What a strange equation, indeed, it is - blaming someone else so as to coverup one's own shortcomings/undoing !
It's, infact, someone's meanness, narrow - mindedness, guilt - feeling, sheer frustration, pre - conceived/prejudiced mind, blurred vision, and negative mindset, which is speaking up now !
..What a rare coincidence it is - someone becoming the complainant, lawyer and judge, rolled into one, sitting on judgement, and, deciding one's own fate, with a view to corner the glory, by hook or by crook, even by cursing the counterpart, so as to coverup one's own shortcomings/undoing, having no other recourse left with one ! How farcical and hypocritical it looks !
Why does someone is conspicuous in one's silence about the moot question ! Why does someone having second thought - when one's own conscience has come into question ! Has someone mortgaged one's own conscience somewhere else !
How right was someone in his assessment in saying - "No one can wear two faces, one for oneself and the other for the people, for long, without getting bewildered - as to which is the real one !"
Let it be very loud and clear that my comment was meant for the channel operator, alone ; and certainly not for one's foot soldiers and cronies ! Does someone hold a brief for the channel operator ! Or does it require someone's prior permission to participate in its various programmes ! If so, I am quite oblivious of it ! Can someone take pains to share it with the viewers in this august forum itself for their knowledge and information anytime soon or in the immediiate future ! Is that understood ! Someone should better understand it !
I do hereby challenge someone to master the necessary courage/guts to come out of the veil of secrecy behind a pseudonym and reveal one's real face and true identity, without mincing any further word, and, without ever trying to dodge/deviate from giving a direct response ; and, share it with the viewers in this august forum itself for their knowledge and information anytime soon or in the immediiate future ; provided, ofcourse, someone is not otherwise a coward ! Is that understood ! Someone should better understand it !
How right was William Shakespeare in his assessment in saying - "Cowards die many times before their death ; but the valiants never taste of death but once !"
In this backdrop, there's no perceptible cause for any euphoria or jubilation for a self - proclaimed victory, which was not to be ! Perhaps, GOD only can save such shameless creatures !
@@amarendraborah6941 Blaming and stating my objection that you hypothetically should he holding yourself to the same standard are two completely different things.
Again, you seem to have a knack for word salad without saying much that contributes to the points the other person makes. Revel in it while it's worthwhile for you. Also too many assumptions, presumptions and putting words in the mouths of others. Not a good standard for an honest banter

Good interview, Tharoor reflected his opinions & principles clearly & honestly. I just wish the interviewer had challenged him & pressed him a little more as he often prefers a vigorous debate.
That would have then reduced the number of topics that were being discussed. Plus there's a time limit to these events. Reason why Dr. Tharoor himself pressed to get to the audience Q & A at the end.

16:45 - The CRUX of Hinduism & being a Sanatani. That you respect everyone else's religious beliefs & places of worship. Trouble arises when that courtesy is not reciprocated.
It's the various Govt. fault (all the governments not just BJP) allowing minorities to live in their own areas, go to their own schools and madarsas instead of requiring that in a democracy all are equal and must go to the same schools, etc. Such madarssas schools should be banned as they only favour one religion and are separatist. Clothes and fashion should also be somehwat similar. No religious beards or burkas or clothes to be allowed in public as that encourages separatism.

Good view.
Successive Chiefs of the Congress Party including Indira Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi used to go to the “Shahi Imam” of Delhi to plead for Muslim votes. So, it was Congress Party’s official policy. You cannot brush it out as though asking for Muslim votes was only by a few insignificant Congress Party members. This official policy of the Congress Party greatly helped BJP as many voters considered the Congress Party was partisan towards Muslims.

The interviewer talks about india's failure in the G20 being another country's victory, and you know who it seems. That is so juvenile and reduces an otherwise quite intellectual discussion.

Always lovely
I am a middle class Indian. It is said that 100 People own the 90 percent of wealth. But there is a catch. These 100 people only have say 1 percent of their own wealth usable for their personal needs and say 99 percent is invested in business. So is it not different from the wealth of an individual who simply puts all his money in fixed deposit and lives on interest. The 100 people take risks for running their business and that gives employment and wealth to their employees as well. Their spending filters down to other small businesses. Nothing of the sort happens with the wealth of the other fixed deposit individual. And I don't include just Ambani's, Adanis, Tatas, Birlas but also others who invest in business for example in film industry as well because that gives employment. So we should I think want there not just 100 wealthy but given India's population 1 lakh filthy rich whose wealth is primarily invested in employment generating industry.
If Tharoor or the anchor thinks the 100 richest is a problem- so what does he want there should not be industrialists who run business and become rich and that wealth should bevwith govt who cant run businesses competitively,! Then he says he wants investment in Kerala ,_ he is confused, he should want 1 lakh rich individuals who compete to invest - do you agree
Trickle down economics was disproven decades ago. Keep up.
Dude believes in trickle down economy 😂
@yashsamuel Tricke down may be but real issue is economic national security. There are bigger sharks outside India waiting to eat u up just like East India Co did and democratic socialism can't handle business only these sharks can.
@@ratneshshrivastava6444 dude I have lived in 3 different countries outside India, the question isn't about have big corporations or not it's the question of what do these cooperation bring to the table, do they bring enough jobs or they just their to profit for their own. When it comes to Indian cooperation I don't understand why people want us to defend them like they do something more for the country than we do. The middle class is already paying more taxes than these cooperation, and even though these companies have generated more profit ( aprox 60%) more in every sector yet the salary is still the same. I am lucky enough to have an opportunity to go to Germany and work there but I want to return to my own country and start to work for my people like start a company in nuclear energy but the current govt is not allowing company to start as they are mostly getting lobbied by oil conglomarates. I wanna start various companies like that in India for my people so that not only cheaper energy can be provided but a creation of perfect competition within the energy sector companies so that an emergence of an egalitarian consumption can emerge and not the gregorian capitalism through which the most crony capitalist want to emerge in India
@@yashsamuel don't start a business - from what you say I don't think you can make a good businessman- just stick to service. And you don't pretend to want to start a company in India, because either you don't know how to go about it or don't come from business family or you have no will to do it - otherwise you would have a business or start-up without excuses.

Welath and income inequality are unfortunately a fact of life in the US too: "In the second quarter of 2023, 69 percent of the total wealth in the United States was owned by the top 10 percent of earners. In comparison, the lowest 50 percent of earners only owned 2.5 percent of the total wealth." - Statista.

I hope Sadhguru guy is not politically important!
Also a big paradox: A man who left his wife the next morning can become PM. Why did he marry her and ruin her life? In those days it was not easy for a women to remarry. Why don't you mention this paradox too? Are you selective and biased?
One line Summation Mr. ST - When the voters cast their ballots... Nobody is going to remember what you here.
Although its vital to point out the shortcomings in a society, its equally important to state facts as opposed to exaggeration of typical stereotypes. Mr Tharoor's talk her has many inaccuracies and stereotypical exaggerations that quite frankly provide no substantial gains to the Indian society.
