They all probably walk in sync to safe a ton of computer resources as they can upload a single mesh to the graphics card and have it render it multiple times rather than having to refresh each single sim individually. Same reason why the number of colors for vehicles is limited as all vehicles with the same model and color can be rendered in the same batch.
@@doctoralfman8393 As someone who was working with graphics programming, I can tell you that it's not how it works. You don't need to upload a new mesh to the graphics card to update the animation. And coloring objects can easily be achieved with instancing by passing an array of colors. You can even see that many people walking in sync have different meshes. What may be happening here is that citizens' models share a very limited number of skeletons for their rigs. And by that, all citizens with common skeleton share a single animation frame. Another possible cause is that while all people have separate animation cycles, some group of pedestrians were synchronized by some event. You are adding the SimCity 2013 idea of citizens but with a better approach. I hope each person really lives inside a specific house and have its goals and deals recorded into a individual list. Each person has to have an opinion about the elements of the city that could interfere on the path to its job etc
Simcity tried to sell it as this but when it came out it was obvious what they promised was not close that what the game was. It became obvious when school let out all the kids would just run to the closest house and when it was full they went onto the next.
They most likely took some shortcuts. The fact that Paradox announced “Life By You” earlier this year makes sense that they’ve got the capability to keep track of all the sims in such detail. As someone who has been playing city builders since SimCity 4, these games have come a long way. I can’t wait for this masterpiece.
Not really. All games are just a database and all they have to do is have stages of life 12345, and then have life situations, healthy, sick, employed, unemployed, happy, sad, etc. and then you can randomize it 10 different times or 50 times and one out of every 50 citizens will be exactly the same. It seems random and sparse, but in reality, it’s just duplicates. And even if it was 60,000 individuals they don’t have to update each one every second or every frame you only have X amount on the street at a given time XM out in a building X amount in a car. You can update each one every minute, which would be pretty reasonable. You could update each one every day but honestly, it’s not that difficult when a computer can process as much information as they can now. And even if it’s running with some AI the computing really isn’t much if they were only 50 variables. I would assume there’s only a couple hundred citizens if that and each one follows a path and is triggered with variables based on the location in the parks, etc.

That following of the citizens is a great future! I loved that so much in SimCity in the early days. Makes it like you have a true connection with your people in game.

This! I had to scroll so, so far down to see this comment. The cims look like your average, big-brand make-up kit: seventeen shades of white and like two darker options, if that
The masochist in me (who also tried playing with teleporting cars turned off in CS1), kinda wants to try playing WITHOUT homeless sims leaving the city. Because that isnt how it works irl. When someone loses everything, they cant just pack up and "go to LA to find a condo". They're stuck, they dont really have opportunity to move to another city, and even if they did, what good would it do? Seeing your city deteriorate into a massive homeless shelter strewn across the beachfront, would give more impetus to the player to SOLVE the situation, not just have them teleport away. My point is just this. I WANT it to be possible to "ruin" your city. To have serious bad consequences. But obviously with a way to solve it. But i just dont want CS2 to end up like CS1 where its basically on autopilot and impossible to mess up.
This is honestly the best lead-up to any new game launch I've ever seen. And you've basically taken the time to explain aspects of the game we had questions for. Amazing. We are really champing at the bit for CS2!
i cant wait for the mods that completely change how the ai talks to us, and custom profile pictures for the ai with the social media thingy. Even there is even a chance modders will even integrate chatai onto it as well just like so many other games. skyrim, fallout etc etc. It may not be the best comparison but in terms of talking ai and how they can dynamically say stuff to u thatd be AWESOME. and ill say it again I cant wait for modders to make custom content for the “social” aspecy of the game.
@@thesatsui Where's that video? On this channel the one that comes closest is the road tools videos, but even they don't mention how gorgeous the intersections are.
I can't believe no one is talking about the graphic quality used for recording this video, it looks worse than the first cities. If you are making a video to promote your game, at least put the shadows in high quality so trees don't float.
The reason is because with all due respect people don't care about that, they know that if something is missing the modders will do it, but for consoles it's very worrying because you can't use mods
I reckon there's going to be new music tracks/radios for this game. But honestly I'm hoping there will be a Legacy Radio DLC or something bringing back the radio stations from CS1. There's just so many good tracks that I want to keep listening too as I build my new cities.
Why do cims walk like they are zombies with a cucumber up in their butts?🤣 Also, please please make them have umbrellas when it’s raining, it’s unrealistic that they just walk like it’s fine to get wet.
Dense cities are actually great places for kids to grow up. As a kid, it's better to have a park in walking distance down the street where all the neighborhood kids go than to have a backyard that's in the middle of nowhere suburbia and have to be driven anywhere to socialize or play.
I want this game banned! CS has consumed 7000 of my hours, and CS2 must not be allowed to consume anywhere near the same amount of my time. And no, I can't resist temptation. I'm even here anticipating a release of what's going to be in the game. So ban CS2 please or let me have it now so I can o'd already!

@@dcobwam you can make it a native mod. I definitely always wanted a realistic building mod, but I also liked having it done instantly sometimes. Basically depends on my mood on the playthrough, so a mod like the unlock all achievements would be nice.
0:50 Saul Goodman casually hanging out with Heisenberg
Those are some... interesting walking animations.
I'm super happy to find out about this feature. It's exactly what I felt like missed in the previous version. More history, more personal, more deep.
This is almost like Sims meets SimCity, they pretty much have a story of their own.
This feature consumed ALL the computers available resources while running the game.
I wonder if the cims and their animations can be modded easily in future. Would be cool to see the modding community improve those textures and animations little a bit
I don't remember C:S1 ground texture being this bad.
I've heard those textures are still being optimized and I can definitely see them being modded eventually as well@@TheSchwarzKater
That following of the citizens is a great future! I loved that so much in SimCity in the early days. Makes it like you have a true connection with your people in game.
I just hope population numbers are realistic. If they can't simulate all individuals because of playability constraints, just multiply by 2 or 3 and one someone dies or moves out of town, you reduce the population by 2 or 3.
So I think if they do it then all or nothing. Both the Game-Engine and the PC Hardware should be able to do this by now. 😉
The speaker has such a great voice. Great video
Chirper was ANNOYING in the first game, HOPING its not in the second game.
The details of being able to see life history is super impressive!!! There is so much detail in this game you get nowhere else, it’s stunning:) Cities in the Sky was super fun too!
0:33 why does everyone walk round with their arms so wide. They trying to act hard? 😂
0:37 their walk looks a little bit strange, almost like they’re marching rather than walking
It's crazy to think about all these features in the game from the start. I can't even imagine how great all the DLCs are going to be
And another amazing showcase of the game! I love, how a city now develops even more story with all the details on life cycles. I am extremely excited about the info features.
can't wait for the release on my birthday
happybirthday man!
0:52 say my name! Heinsenberg!?
Ngl quite interested in being able to follow the specific lives of some of my citizens
Still not over the horror of the old chirper but i am willing to give it another go as long as it isn't getting randomly spammed every half second
I want to see more realistic citizens use my city.
Examples are:
People leaning on balconies
Picnics in park
Construction workers
People eating in outside restaurants
Just want a more realistic city with life to it
People using the pool in their gardens.
It seems like there is still a long way to go before it feels realistic.
I'm a black guy, and now I'm wondering where the black models of the game are. Is the world only for white people?
I saw some black ppl in this video so dont worry
But i just dont want CS2 to end up like CS1 where its basically on autopilot and impossible to mess up.
looks stupid that everybody has the same walking speed, like an army of robots
IKR LOL
Just WOW! This by far the most exciting and most unique feature that I have loved!!!!!!! You are awesome whole Paradox team!
Just a quick comment to confuse those who see it tomorrow and wonder how this appeared here before the premiere
Okay but please tell me that I don't need a Hospital on every block.
I'm sorry this is really cool but the citizens walking like Vince McMahon is cracking me up
0:50 is that Saul Goodman and Walter White? I can’t be the only one💀💀💀
Man every start of the week I get hyped to watch these ideas that make me more hyped to buy the game
That's the whole point of this marketing...
This is honestly the best lead-up to any new game launch I've ever seen. And you've basically taken the time to explain aspects of the game we had questions for. Amazing.
We are really champing at the bit for CS2!
Will there be a citizen CEO that buys out Chirper and renames it to Z? 🤣🤣
i cant wait for the mods that completely change how the ai talks to us, and custom profile pictures for the ai with the social media thingy.
I haven't seen anyone mention intersections, but they look so damn good! No more giant slabs of unpainted concrete
A lot of mentions on the video about intersections and roads.
The reason is because with all due respect people don't care about that, they know that if something is missing the modders will do it, but for consoles it's very worrying because you can't use mods
no@@jairarana2459
The walking animation for cims is so funny, they all look pregnant LOL
The kids are the funniest of them all
Cities Skylines about to create Detroit Become Human. Citizens about to hate me dearly.
Citizens animations are uncanny
I reckon there's going to be new music tracks/radios for this game.
But honestly I'm hoping there will be a Legacy Radio DLC or something bringing back the radio stations from CS1.
There's just so many good tracks that I want to keep listening too as I build my new cities.
This is the coolest feature they've shown so far for the game and the rest of the videos have been great. I'm pretty excited for this game.
"Healthcare is non-negotiable"
USA's Healthcare System: "And I took that personally"
Why do cims walk like they are zombies with a cucumber up in their butts?🤣 Also, please please make them have umbrellas when it’s raining, it’s unrealistic that they just walk like it’s fine to get wet.
Its because they all walk the exact same speed.
look at their fucking arms and legs sticking out like the're half-t-posing @@apothic0n
Everyone be walking around like it was back day...
Very wobbly walking... LOL
Looking forward to this new Sims game.... 😊
Guys your work is amazing, congrats to the whole team of Cities skyline. Is really amazing where this game is going towards to.
I stil think that I'll stay with Cities 1 for quite a while still. I feel like not having discovered all there is
love the way heisenberg is in every video
Cities skylines 2 was my dream ,
Now i know the feeling when your dream is happening in real life !
Dense cities are actually great places for kids to grow up. As a kid, it's better to have a park in walking distance down the street where all the neighborhood kids go than to have a backyard that's in the middle of nowhere suburbia and have to be driven anywhere to socialize or play.
Why does it look so robotic when Citizens walk?
Why are 2 dogs out for a walk perfectly synced?
Fix it.
It's cities Skylines 2!!
00:17 not the jacket clipping 💀
Could I favorite a single citizen so I can track their lifepath as I play?
Yep!
The guy in brown t-shirt at 0:43 changing his mind and going "uh, college graduation? Nope" and turning around.
Can’t wait for this vid to drop! Getting up close and personal with my cims is something I CRAVE so I’m excited to hear about their lives in the game!
"Healthcare is non-negotiable"
*cries in USA*
Showing that citizens could have a bad day and then cutting to the top of a building had me worried there for a second. Glad the sim is just sick.
Why does it look like everyone is returing home from an awesome benchpress workout at the gym?
I want this game banned! CS has consumed 7000 of my hours, and CS2 must not be allowed to consume anywhere near the same amount of my time.
And no, I can't resist temptation. I've already preordered the dearer version and can't wait for release day. And what's worse is, since CS2 release announcement, I've lived in anticipation. Golly! I'm even here anticipating a release of what's going to be in the game.
So ban CS2 please or let me have it now so I can o'd already!
Haha great reply. So true!
Dude the amount of simulation in CS:2 is crazyyyyyy because your telling me that EVERY citizen will have, routines, a family tree, everything! I also love the new chirper integration so its a lot more similar to actual social media apps with likes to the posts.
