    Do you need to let the gasket sealant cure before filling it up with oil?

    • @sublimefreak2244
      @sublimefreak2244  2 года назад

      Yes you need to, check the back of the gasket maker and follow it exactly. These have a tendency to fail and seep out the bottom if not followed correctly.

    What gear oil would you recommend for a 2018 f150 with the electronic differential? I was thinking Amsoil or royal purple or even valvoline but all of them contain some friction modifier additive would it be ok?

    • @sublimefreak2244
      @sublimefreak2244  4 года назад

      Depending on what your doing with it , I would run amsoil , I would check on the friction modifier, I don't think I would run a friction modifier because it doesn't have clutches. I run a heavy weight oil instead of the lightweight stuff they call for, they do that for gas milage

      My 2016 has the same electronic diff, what fluid did you end up using?

    At what mileage did you perform the diff exchange?

      We did it at 60k. We tow a lot with this vehicle and it had developed a small leak on the gasket

    Should have put the Spicer heavy duty cover on with a built in drain and fill plugs.

      I actually didn't show it in this video but I drilled out the factory cover and welded in a drain bung

      @@sublimefreak2244 That works too, the Spicer is overkill unless you go off road.

      It actually wasn't bad it was leaking so we had to get it changed

    What lbs foot torque did you apply to your rear diff?

    What fluid did you use?

    • @sublimefreak2244
      @sublimefreak2244  5 лет назад

      I used 75w140 . Depending on your climate you can use different stuff this truck tows a lot so having that thicker oil was better in this circumstance

    • @gregtrew8538
      @gregtrew8538 5 лет назад +4

      Just checking because it calls for 75w 85

    • @wesleythompson7
      @wesleythompson7 3 года назад

      More than likely motorcraft 75w 140 synthetic. That's what ford recommends the main thing is as long as its 75w 140 synthetic. Doesn't have to be motorcraft ,but that's what I use in my 2006 ford f150 5.4 v8 & in my 2017 ford f150 v8

    • @wesleythompson7
      @wesleythompson7 3 года назад

      @@gregtrew8538 75w 85 in front rear is ALWAYS 75w 140 . Rear is always thicker than front

    • @audioeptesicus4076
      @audioeptesicus4076 2 года назад

      @@wesleythompson7 FYI, Ford changed this with newer F150's and now calls for 75W-85 for the rear and not 75W-140 anymore.
