I think I first ran across Norma Jean around 1999 in Atlanta when I was playing in bands. Now I'm old, and I've heard a lot from Norma Jean over the years, but what I've heard off this new record Polar Similar is the best yet from this band. And I love that they recorded the new record where In Utero was recorded. I wish the band well.
It's one of the best albums I've ever heard. Front to back, I never grew bored from it. and listening to it over and over again, I'm hearing new things and expanding the audio universe in the album. Rock solid.
Saw you guys in Dublin at 2:00 am back in June with about 40 other people....been to hundreds of shows but that was hands down the coolest experience of my life...This album is the pinnacle of Norma Jean thus far.
This year has been great for music. I've seen Norma Jean, Every Time I Die, Russian Circles, and Trap Them release what I consider their best material. Now, I am in no way taking away from past albums. It isn't about ranking or old stuff vs new stuff. It's just THAT feeling you get when you listen to an album. I had a smile on my face all the way through Polar Similar. Same with ETID's Low Teens. The sound, the structure, the passion. All of it really comes through on the records I mentioned. Great job guys! Polar Similar is a masterpiece.
Been listening since Bless the Martyr but lost track of the band around the anti mother album. So glad I found this on Apple Music! Also love the album cover.
This album is so fucking good that its a crime that they dont seem to get as much recognition as cookie-cutter metalcore acts. Theyre great live too. They opened fot periphery back in like...2013-15 something like that, and it was the first time id seen them live. Blew me the fuck away. The energy, the talent....Norma Jean is a surviving collective of everything thay was good about this scene from 2002-2009. This band is amazing no matter what the line-up is.
How i can i get my hands on this now that the album is released? I really want to see it, i listen to Polar Similar every day at least once please put it up for sale digitally!
Yeah dude, I've been feeling a mixture of early 2000's and even newer UnderOAth in there and I haven't with any other Norma Jean albums in the past, it's pretty strange.
From the clips here there's a intense brooding darkness which disambiguation had too, this still sounds very much NJ to me, however two great unique bands imo.
Is there any way to still get this full documentary? I'm probably getting this album because its amazing soon, but I really want this documentary as well. Any help?
