Phenomenal! We just saw the show Feb 1st in Vegas. I brought my family for Christmas and we were running late because we made custom shirts for ourselves so we missed this song 😢I’m so happy for this post especially with the drum cam angle on Todd. You’re awesome man. Love your new kit!

Of course, @@drew-shourd, but even when you take that touring catalog out of the equation, his playing and educating is still helping to move the craft forward, inspiring the rest of us (like many others, whether they're in the spotlight or not) to be our best, or at the very least, to get better. When I first saw Todd on the Styx Live DVD from the 90s concert I thought he was just all over the place and overplayed. My, how my opinion just went 160 degrees. Phenomenal player.
From simple to complex, there are an endless number of ways to be an amazing drummer. This leans toward complex (especially starting around 4 minutes in), but it's the fluidity and conviction that takes it to another level.
He just became one of my new favorites, with traditional grip none the less , I'm blown away , I wish it wasn't 2 am or id go to the set and see how many seconds till my matched grip normal left wrist will give out
Todd's style incorporates the best chops of every drummer I have ever learned from. Throws in his own mastery of rudiments and his natural rock grooviness. He makes it all look so easy. His seamless switching from match grip to traditional is fun to watch also. All without breaking a sweat. For my money? The best all around pro drummer out there. I would take lessons from him in a New York minute. And I have been a competant pro drummer for over 50 years. This old dog could stand to learn a few tricks.😅
I remember the first time hearing Todd. It was on the 1996 “return to Paradise” album. He played so well on that album. Not to take away from any other albums that he’s played on. Truly, a modern day great!!!
If you doubt this guy isn't a top 5 drummer right now, listen to Styx The Mission from 2017 start to finish. I can't ever comprehend some of what he's doing, much less replicate it
nobody knows who the top 5 are.. how do you compare a george kollias to a nate smith to a virgil donati to a todd sucherman.. simply not possible. he's undoubtedly world class. he's got insane chops, fantastic groove, i cant recall seeing him mess up, ive been told he's one of the nicest guys in the business and he seems to have his life together.. if you got all that, i cant imagine caring too much about wether youre top 5 or top 50. like samuel l jackson said: if you need a sam jackson character in your movie, youre gonna call sam jackson.. it doesnt matter if he has 0 or 20 oscars
Todd Sucherman is such a joy to watch. I grew up in the 70s a big Styx fan, and was a big fan of John Panozzo. While John wasn't the greatest drummer ever (I can poorly play MOST of his stuff), he was very good and his style and the parts he wrote for the "progressive" sounds of Styx were perfect. I love how Todd stays true to John's playing, but his skill allows him to augment the songs and take the playing to the highest level without departing from the basic sound John created. RIP John, your tracks will live forever. And Todd, keep on man, keep on.

Just watching this again for like the 3rd time. I just can't bow deeply enough in respect. There is so much to admire here. Your technical abilities are obviously world class.
