Watched a ton of informative vids on Rtic vs Yeti, but your video pushed me over the edge to the Rtic. Thanks! I also liked that the other coolers were also displayed here, showing other options for shorter duration trips. Great video!
I know I'm late here but I've been researching cooler's like a madman lately. I almost bought an RTIC until I started looking at reddit threads. 9/10 you'll get a good one, but if you do get one with a defect, they will claim it was your fault and not hold up on their 1 warranty. I saw 1 guy that used a RTIC 110 ONCE and the lid was cracking off at the hinges and RTIC told him he must of overextended the lid when opening it. He posted the email exchange and everything.
@@RushVoorhisOutdoors Nah, I don't chance things. I just bought a Kenai yesterday. Made by Grizzly right here in the states and backed by a lifetime warranty. Same price as RTIC, too.
Beer is 9-21 degrees.... the cooler is actually chilling the can colder than the ice around it ;-) Ice should be around 32 after chilling the cooler and surrounding contents. You're not the only one using a temp gun, so you're not off your rocker, I just don't see the point of it. If the can was above 32, then the ice would melt until the can equalized temperature with its surroundings. Thanks for comparing so many different options. I was thinking about the rtic... now I'll have to consider your results.
Just found this got the old coleman extreme just picked it up used. It's a 6 day cooler. I just loved the temperature comparisons as I find coleman colder than most coolers out there. For me on that test coleman wins hands down.
My Igloo maxcold holds ice just as well as my Pelican and Rtic coolers. Probably about to sell them both. Kind of over the heavy ass coolers that don’t do anything better than my old Igloo.
They are heavy for sure lol. The biggest difference to me is on the really hot days. The roto molded coolers do just a little better in the extreme heat. Take care buddy
Good video I ordered a rtic 45 a week ago. I've been wanting to get one for a year. I hope it comes by the date they say.i hear a lot of people saying they keep changing the dates
That's a cool challenge get it cool ,,,, cooler any way I never seen it done for 10 days nice video , I subscribed a while back brother u have a nice channel going on with a lot of interesting ideas 🖒
The can is silver, it’s reflective. the infrared thermometer will pick up reflection what you need to do next time is to put a piece of black tape on each can and that would be where you would take your measurements from.
seems like the igloo is the best bang for the buck. would be good to help get through power outages and keep the food around for a bit longer. helpful vid man. liked and subbed.
Your coolers are of different sizes...that affects the difference of how cool they can stay. The larger the cooler, the longer it will stay cold when filled to max.
Great job! That was very interesting. Personally, I think the Igloo won. At least if you factor in cost. Yeti is an over priced product with great advertising. Rtic isn't much different. The igloo is so much less money you can afford to replace the ice!
Or... take an extra cooler full of ice😂😂 I've done that once, and it's worth it if you can deal with a cooler full of ice taking up 40lbs and space in your truck lol
This video was super helpful! We do some island camping in the adriondacks so we're looking to upgrade for less trips back for more ice. Think you convinced me the rtic was the way to go but the comparisons and temperatures were amazing to see. We gotta keep those mountains blue ya know? Thanks again!
Thank you for the sub I got you covered I subbed your channel this morning I saw this video a long while ago gave me some great info on the coolers so thanks for that also
I will say the test fair, albeit totally unrealistic unless you ten percent of the population that lives north of the Great Lakes. Now try the same test with the same coolers when the air temp is north of 80 deg F, and ground surface temps around 90. Then let’s see how long the ice lasts. Good job though.
Awesome review man! I actually just ordered the RTIC45. I’m glad I watched this. Made me happy about my purchase. I do HVAC and look forward to using the cooler in my van all year round. Thanks for the review on them. Keep up the good work!
J Fike I would agree they are a little expensive, but the reason I say this is because I bought a 8$ tumbler and the lid warped and the inside cracked. It was one of those "yeti killers" haha.
definitely make the video...we use 2 of the RTIC 30oz daily about 8months, so far I cracked a lid dropping on concrete driveway...other than that no complaints yet.
Thanks for this, I hope you get more views. You have basically proved that I can get the same performance from a 50 dollar igloo max or coleman extreme cooler as I can from an overpriced trendily named cooler for nearly 7 times the price. I own two of the coleman extremes and an igloo max and have been very pleased with their performance.
RTIC has been sued by Yeti... Yeti is forcing RTIC to change their products, will be changing Spring 2017. so if you want a Yeti Clone...get one while you still can.
I have both a Yeti 65 and a Coleman Xtreme...I can tell you in real world usage in temps of 80's. None of those coolers will last 10days. Coleman Xtreme might be close to ice retention compared to Yeti or RTIC, but lacks durability in the lid, hinges and drain plug area. The Xreme says on sticker 5days at 90F...sorry not gonna happen
J Fike yea I would 100% agree with you that in a real world scenario these coolers would not last this long. I just wanted to see what maximum effectiveness of these coolers were, but as this test proved the YETI and RTIC were very similar and held ice the longest. I may try this test again this summer and mix it up a little. thanks for the comment!
I had previously calculated the distance to the sum beforehand, should have been the correct temp 85% of the time at least. I did consult multiple engineers on this build as it was specifically challenging to get the correct space between coolers aligned with the sun 🌞. Yea, super scientific
@@RushVoorhisOutdoors using a infrared thermometer is not accurate because it has to account for surface texture, surface reflection of light, and surface color, all of these will give different temp readings. Ice and water will always read close to 32F. Since you never mention BTUs of heat gain or loss you did not consult a engineer. It takes about 144 Btu/pound to melt ice. BTU is a critical unit of measure for heat. Question is: how many BTUs of heat gain does it take to melt 20 pounds of ice in each box cooler?
why all these videos are samething(bullshit). cooler are fill almost full and one drink. people buy cooler for parties or camping, sport day with 8 team pleayer. at least wich people fill with 80% drinks and maybe 20% of ice. and cooler on parties or camping, cooler opens at least 36 in one days or two
A suggestion for the next video would be to compare apples to apples regarding sizes along with colors as well. And yes color make a difference. If you have ever done the classic egg on frying pan test you'll see that on black frying pans compared to white that (depending on the outside temp, time of year and wind speed) the black pan usually will fry an egg quite a lot faster. So to compare a brown cooler with a white cooler might now be the most accurate test.
MONTANA WALLEYE CIRCUIT VIDEOS PART 3 COMING THIS WEEK🙌

they might have. they had mass orders before the first cooler shipped out. hopefully they pull it together before summer hits haha
+Rush Voorhis Outdoors mine shipped yesterday that's only 2 and a half weeks since I ordered it so that's pretty good
+fbenton2 dude I'm stoked for you! you're gonna love it
Thanks for the review dude it was helpful. I ordered the RTIC 45.
nice choice man! gonna love the durability and usefulness of RTIC, at a decent price range :)

thanks for making this video. Im going to get the Coleman Xtreme or the RITC.
Rtic is having a sale right now...i just picked up the 65 for 180$
The xtreame is nice, but if you can come up with the extra 100$ it's totally worth it
right on the main site? what size is on sale I dont see it. thanks in advance
They are having a Facebook sale type in FB25 in checkout and it should take 25% off
thanks I just ordered one ;-)

What model of Igloo is that?
igloo Max cold 60 quart
Day 7. You changed last two. Bias
Lol i mixed up the names didn't I lol
Solid review and good info! For the price difference one would expect a little more from the yeti, but the RTIC won out! Well done!
Kinda surprising for the $$$

Love my RTIC 45! It's been on my pool deck all summer long and getting plenty of use by the neighborhood kids and myself, of course!
awesome to hear! my white one has gotten a lot of use,and I can tell their are a few black blemishes All over it. have you noticed the same thing?
I bought a yeti because...yeti lol
Your coolers are of different sizes...that affects the difference of how cool they can stay. The larger the cooler, the longer it will stay cold when filled to max.
A better test would be to fill coolers of same sizes and compare.
+RiseUpBlue oh damn, I had no idea.
Yeah most people don't need cold coolers when it's freaking freezing outside
That's actually a great time to have a cooler!

Agreed 100% the igloo is a hell of a deal! Not going to lie, if I have to take one cooler camping for 5 days it's the RTIC.

Good test just don't see how doing a cooler test on a day that is only 48 degrees is accurate
that temp was taken at like 7 am in the morning. The concrete was still cold from the night . it warmed up

thank you everyone for your comments!!! I'm thinking of doing a "yeti tumbler video and why it's worth it" thoughts??
Have an RTIC 30oz myself and since they have dropped the price to $10...so I would say not worth 4x the price on the Yeti.

haha thanks man! I appreciate it! my coleman extreme is like 12 years old/ warped lid and still holds ice for 7 days. talk about "bang for your buck"
Suggest you hold your temp gun about 12in. From the target on all measurements. That is the directive on my temp gauge.
