This devil dragon is awesome. I tried it myself. It worked great and this one is the complex origami I've ever tried. Thanks Jo Nakashima you are amazing :)
2 hours, but done all i can say is it is not `complex` at all, but just time consuming, other than a few folds, a few intricate ones, most folds are really really simple and can be done by an intermediate folder, just that theres quite a lot of them. i did it from a 20cmx20cm square, thats the minimum you should go for, the bigger the better. and the only tip i can give, which i believe is the only tip you need- *use a thin paper but a very durable one* the wings were actually kinda hard tbh, but its still very doable. dont use paper smaller than 20cmx20cm, dont go for thick paper, dont go for weak papers, and be sure to keep your fingers and hand extremely dry to prevent ripping in parts like tail spikes, or fingers do not get intimidated by the video duration or the `complex` difficulty it has been rated with. and with all of that being said, Jo, this model is absolutely scintillating, nothing to say, the extremely subtle folds which lead to such great results, awesome, i was especially amazed by how you devised the method for the fingers and eyes, i was kinda surprised to see the first few folds, although it was clear it had something to do with the head, but it turns out, those fingers too! great, great model man, never have you failed to amaze me, supremely great creativity, i can never praise it enough. and how can i forget the crystal clear instructions and how perfectly youve folded it, picture perfect. the instructions were so good, no one can go wrong, very very well written subtitles, and the diagrams make it exponentially easier, the subtitles also provide certain details which might be hard to convey through the video or diagrams, everything fits in like the pieces of a jigsaw puzzle and end up giving the most wonderful results, amazing, amazing, amazing job.
+Jakub Krajewski (Origaming) I just finished the model and it looks awesome. For those who will want to try and make it: don't be afraid, it looks complicated but it's not that difficult. And I can confirm that with paper any less than 40 cm X 40 cm some sequences are tricky (but still doable) as they require quite detailed folding. Regards, Jakub Krajewski
I love these dragon tutorials !!! I did lots of them and tgey all turned out sooo beautiful... your way to show how to fold them is really easy to follow, I love it !!!! Never, ever, ever stop doing origami !!! I hope you will keep on making dragon or other fantasy creatures tutorials... I would really love to see and make more !!! You were my motivition to start origami because what you do is so amazing, that I also wanted to try it !!!!
Very good tutorial, mostly very easy, it was only because of the size of my paper that it took much more time than expected. Still, fun to do nonetheless, and the base was basically the same as your original Devil Dragon, which I made a couple of days ago, so that really helped. I've been watching you since aroundddddddd 2012 iirc??? And I used to be a huge origami nerd, and I recently got back into it, so thank you a lot for your awesome tutorials and I really really appreciate the diagrams too, keep it up man
Hi bro today i make it this devil dragon v2 This dragon so hard moment is 1} legs 2} neck ,nose , eye Jo Nakashima your 20 minute my 3 hour And your 51 minute my 5 hour SO HARD BUT I MADE IT 🎉😍
To be honest, i was wandering how Jo do the AMAZING origami in RUclips... btw i was using your tutorials for my art projects. I'm thanking you for the tutorials that you've made to impress my Art Teacher... The thing is by creating your "Origami" in different models is one of the best art that i've ever seen in my life... I mean, dude you make the best tutor/teacher in origami. (I forgot to say you have the best origami channel in the world)
It's since it has both real and imaginary parts. It's real since you can fold a real one with origami paper, but also imaginary since you'll just have to imagine that yours looks as good as his.
Thank you for the awesome guide! I followed it through to folding the neck, then starting to encounter a serious problem: The base of the dragon keeps spreading out I can't find a way to keep the left and right legs reasonably staying together. Is there any tips for keeping the shape of the dragon like in your video?
+Alexander Y. Chen Thanks! Yes, I have a few tips: 1) use a larger sheet of paper 2) use a thin paper that keep the creases well (i.e. tissue foil) 3) wet-fold if you have suitable paper (like elephant hide) 4) use a paper clips inside of it
+Jo Nakashima Thanks for the tips! For now the paper clip way works extremely well :D Next time I'll use a larger tissue foil and try this again. Thanks again for the great video! I love your dragons!
In my experience, no. the paper he uses in the video works well to mostly solve this problem, yet even it eventually spreads anyways. Edit: unless you do what Jo says, I guess
Thank you again for this amazing tutorial!!!!!!! I have my dragon up in my collection of all your other beautiful creations! *THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOOOUUUUU!!!!!!
Hey Jo amazing I genuinely am not going to lie but for how good the dragon looks it’s probably one of the best origami dragon because of how simple ot is for something so detailed really nicely done i just had a question that i have made all the dragons on your channel, but all of them even with the exact paper measurement look good but the size of the dragon is a. Little smaller than yours why is that?
It's beautiful! I already failed at a video i keep rewatching but can't seem to get the hang off (i fail everytime). It's the dragon egg, it's extraordinary hard for me. Can you help me understand it? I understand your instructions, but i can't seem to recreate them. Thank you anyway

your work has been an inspiration to me for years, and how generously you share it even more-so. thank you, so much.
What I find so cool is the fact that after the beginning it begins to become like the other dragon models
I like to think of this as an advanced crane origami, they all have some similar patterns.

Hello sir,
I find it hard to make estimated folds; without reference crease(s). I'll appreciate if you could help me.

That's so amazing!Your videos are very useful for origami funs.Good job Jo!!
why is this origami complex?
is it because not all the people can do this
or
is it because its almost an hour to make
so true
first one probably
You can't do it because it's way out of your league

I think first one
Cuz babies cant do this
So its complex
